Would like to see at least one cricketer included. Gary Sobers, Geoff Boycott, Dickie Bird and Neil Harvey are all good candidates. Not a cricketer but I'd like to see Colin Jeavons included if he makes the starting line.
-
Not sure about Fergie. I know he had a brush with death a few years ago but he appears to have recovered well and is still pretty active despite his wife recently dying. Redknapp doesn't feel ready yet either. Brazil could easily spontaneously combust at any time.

Is Fred Haise famous enough? I'd say so given the Apollo 13 film.
-
Respect to Rosalynn (RIP) but Joss Ackland was famous for a lot more than being married to someone famous. A top actor who I'm amazed lasted as long as he did given he looked really old in the 1980s and was quite overweight in later life. RIP

She is still remarkably good for someone in their 90s who was diagnosed with dementia over 20 years ago.

Bill Wyman is doing a book signing on the Kings Road tomorrow

Fair excuse I suppose

The one person I would have expected to have been at Charlton's funeral but seemingly wasn't is David Beckham. I know he's a big name but pretty poor form him not attending in my view unless there was a very good reason.
-
According to the Mail, Alex Stepney, Paddy Crerand, John Aston, Brian Kidd, Sammy Mccllroy, Alan Gowling, Lou Macari, Willie Morgan and Martin Buchan were all there. So one assumes none of them have late stage dementia at least.

I don't expect her to go for quite a good while yet. None of the surviving Prime Ministers are obviously in especially poor health.
-
She doesn't look unwell. Nothing to see here in this picture for me in relation to any of those pictured.
-
For what it's worth, I doubt whether any former PM will die a natural death this decade.
-
She's diabetic and looks quite frail in person. I have met her in the past few years. Mentally very sharp though.
-
If I was a betting man, I'd expect them to go in the following order: Brown May Major Blair Johnson Cameron Sunak Truss I've met four of them so that's not totally speculative but it is mostly.
-
Wouldn't be surprised if Major survives Brown, Blair and May. Despite the stresses he faced in seven years as Prime Minister, he didn't appear to let it get to him as certain others.

Jonathan Aitken looks very good for 81 here. Could easily pass for ten years younger
-
He still has that characteristic deep voice and a brilliant head of hair. Still very recogniseable as the Robert Wagner of old all things considered.
-
Pearson was definitely out of action for some weeks due to Covid
-
Lots of potentials in the appropriate age range - Mary Berry, Prue Leith, Josceline Dimbleby for example. Also Dave Myers from the Hairy Bikers given his long-running cancer battle. Graham Kerr would be good given he was most active in the 1960s and 1970s and most people old enough to remember him would probably not be aware he was still alive.
-
89 is a very good age for an English footballer of his generation (of high profile post-war English players I can only recall Tom Finney living longer) and clearly he's still got his marbles which is a rarity in itself. Certainly been dealt a better hand than many of his contemporaries.
-
I note that Stepney, Kidd, Aston and Crerand are four of the five survivors of United's 1968 European Cup triumph. No sign of David Sadler, the fifth survivor. I also note that there are currently five surviving players from the Benfica team - Henrique, Calisto, Cruz, Augusto and Simoes.
-
Not so good on his feet as Stepney. As you can see he's carrying a walking stick but based on this appearance he doesn't look in imminent danger.

Did anyone see the tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton on the Old Trafford pitch ahead of the Manchester derby today? The players who played with and against Charlton were in the photo from left to right Alex Stepney, Tony Book, Mike Summerbee, Pat Crerand, John Aston and Brian Kidd. Book looked extremely frail and several of the others were also struggling to walk. Stepney (who looks very good for 81) comfortably looked the healthiest to me. It should also be noted that sadly there was no sign of Denis Law.

Cricket Thread. Only Mad Dogs And Englishmen

Farokh always goes to the English Tests at Lords and Old Trafford, usually with his old Lancashire colleague Clive Lloyd. Love the surnames of some of the old Indian cricketers like Engineer and Contractor. Did any others have professions as names?
