Reading Schofields statement I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Sunday tabloids has an exclusive interview with the younger guy and he's getting his side of the story out first. If he confirms the allegations of underage grooming/relationship then Schofields public life will be over if it isn't already. Longer term I think ITV will be heavily criticised for not investigating this more thoroughly at the time and letting him quit rather than sacking him earlier.

On the 27th April episode of ‘The Rest is Politics’ podcast Alastair Campbell revealed that he had recently participated in the preparation of an obituary for Rupert Murdoch which concluded with them being asked if overall he was a force for good or for bad. Apparently this is a common thing now with public figures but the most high profile example I remember of this recently was the Queen and it appeared she wasn't around very much longer after the interviews took place.

Although inevitable, it’s a shame that when they die that they and their creations also go at the same time.
