Elijah Cummings, Representative for Maryland, hospitalised once again - this time for a bacterial infection, although the article details his medical issues over the past year. His wife has suspended her campaign for Governorship of Maryland citing personal reasons. His name has been mentioned in most British newspapers as he is the most senior Democrat on the House Oversights Committee, which has been in the news recently relating to the Trump-Russia investigation.

Philipp Jenninger, a German CDU politician and diplomat, has died aged 85. He served as a Minister of State under Helmut Kohl from 1982 to 1984, and also as the 9th President of the Bundestag from 1984 to 1988. After his political career, he served as Ambassador to Austria (1991-1995) and The Holy See (1995-1997).
