Notable Victims of the Russo-Ukrainian war
CastAway replied to the_engineer's topic in DeathList Forum
I mean, this has already happened. Per Wiki, US numbers in Iraq - 4.5k and in Afghanistan, 2.4k. UK lost ~600-700 troops in both combined, putting you at about 7.5k deaths for both countries across both wars. Russian death numbers in Ukraine range from 7-8k (per the US and Europe) to 14k+ (per Ukraine). I'm more inclined to believe the latter myself, but even going by US numbers, Russia's already either nearly lost as many people as the US+UK in Iraq+Afghanistan, or slightly more than that. And that's without going into equipment losses, or number of generals lost. On that last part, btw. Per all sources, Ukraine has killed 4 Russian Major Generals that we know of so far. Major General is basically a 1 star General in the Russian armed forces. A couple of hours ago, this was reported: It's still unconfirmed by Russia, and based on Gerasimov's death, will likely take a couple of weeks until the family gets the body before it's officially confirmed. However, if it is accurate, this is the first Lt. General killed by Ukraine - Lt. General being the equivalent of a 2 star general. The officers are falling like flies tbh. -

they may have found out something new when they were informed of Zakrzewski's death, but IDK. there was twitter chatter that there have been 3 international journalists killed already earlier today. 2 we know, and if the twitter chatter was real, Hall may have passed of his injuries - remains to be seen though -

first American journalist killed on the ground per reports on Twitter. 2 NYT journalists shot by Russians in Irpin, 1 killed - still a bunch of confusion on Twitter re: who is dead and who lived EDIT: name of the dead seems to be Brent Renaud. explicit photos of his body all over Twitter, approach with caution - most tweets that name him also have the photos included at the moment, so not adding tweet sources. I'm sure we'll get a confirmed obit soon. -

From his wiki: "Ukrainian sources said around 20 major generals had been deployed to the Ukrainian front, of whom three have been killed." Again, this is just embarrassing for the Russians -

Apparently either the Ukrainians or reporters hacked his unit's comms, so there's audio footage floating around Twitter of his next in command calling their higher ups to report he's been killed. Seems like he got caught by a Bayraktar -

while Chernobyl going offline isn't as much of a concern given the fuel rods are basically spent and there's little risk of another leak from there, this is concerning: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-03-10/un-watchdog-lose-data-chernobyl-zaporizhzhia-nuclear-power-plant/100898202 Zaporizhzhia no longer transmitting data to UN nuclear watchdog + reports staff have been tortured and the same shift has been working w/o a break since the takeover by the Russians. neither is a good option for the largest NPP in Europe, and both risks catastrophe

For anyone interested in how things are going for Russia, read this thread. Journalists on the ground - not UKR intelligence, journalists - have managed to tap into FSB comms and identify senior agent by essentially looking up their number in the phone book (in this case, an open source app). -

VDV figures are falling like dominoes, at this point I'm only going to update re: them if they're significant enough to have an English Wiki page. With how badly the VDV is doing, one wonders if it will even exist after this, at least as a branch of the armed forces. -
I mean Nexta TV over on Twitter was reporting that Shoigu has a coup being planned, Putin knows, and will arrest him this week. Not sure how valid it is, but there are rumblings already. Shoigu's main issue per Russia watchers is that he's ethnically Tuvan, not ethnically Russian. But China considers Tuvans to be part of China, so if Russia falls into their pocket more they may look to Shoigu as a puppet better they can control when Putin's out of the way. + if newest info re: Russian demands is true, at least backdoor they're starting to consider withdrawing. Newest list of demands per Bellingcat is they appoint the PM and Zelenskyy stays President, Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk get "independence," and Ukraine commits to no NATO/EU. Already backing down from the "stop fighting first and give us Kyiv" nonsense that was happening.
