Well I finally took a look at the entire benefit concert to see what you guys are talking about: OK, Let me tell you that this is George HW Bush at his most weak physically, he was at times unable to even clap to what the other presidents were saying. And there is this particular moment (first picture) that, had it been any other individual that night, would have been considered an insult to the flag. But mentally, he was still as sharp as ever, he was aware of everything, especially to the five (!) standing ovations he received . There was one particular cute moment where the MC of the ceremony made an allusion to his library, and he raised his hand as to say "I'm the Bush he's talking about". It's also nice to see Clinton wheeling old Poppy Bush away. It was also great that he spoke on his behalf. Just shows how much they have become good friends and almost like father and son over the years. His sock game is also as strong as ever! PS: One thing you guys forgot to mention: mother Barbara was using an oxygen tank for the first time, and it's never a good sign. She just HAS to be on next year's Deathlist.

I read that in the beautiful nasal voice of another Deathlist pick, Jerry Garcia.

This discussion reminded me of one of the greatest bits The Simpsons have ever done. "I died in 30 days!" LOOOOOOOL

Google William Henry Harrison. He was much, much worse. Believe me. Total disaster. Sad.

Nope, I'm a sperm gargling Madridista. Modrić and Bale said hola by the way.

Maybe it's a little too early to call Donald Trump the worst president ever, ain't it my friend?

Laugh all you want, but Ford or Reagan were doing even less at 93. It's nice to see Papa Bush still rallying for a good cause, he's one tough cookie.

This sounds more like a eulogy and less like an article about someone who is still breathing Ahead of his 99th birthday, his son says that his father "is doing well, but he does have the physical challenges that come with his age." Geez man...Wanna know how ancient this guy is? He's had an audience with all US presidents since Harry Truman and all the way to Obama.

If this is a recent picture (and it looks like it), he will be the second rock legend to reach 90, and unlike Berry, he might surpass it.

tie between Princess Leah and King Mike so Mike.

Very sad indeed, But I really wanted him to survive, and I also wanted the record to be broken by a DL legend, but here we are...our 15th death is somebody 90% of people here didn't know about before his awful illness (and don't try to pretend otherwise!) Again, RIP Gord, you were a great fighter, but you are never called a "dead cert" for nothing. I'm looking at you now, Michael I.

Jimmy Carter should also stay until the end, it would be a shame to get Nixon, Reagan and Ford and then miss him. He's 93 and near the peak of the US president's age, let's not forget that. Also, de Cuellar should stay as well for being so universally acclaimed. -

I wouldn't call using an oxygen tank at 102 being very ill, but yes, he's undroppable. -
What a sorry ass country...

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Predictions
Life Is Beautiful replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Wait! Are you telling me that, somewhere, there are people who don't like those exact things you like? Get out of here! How DARE they!! Edit: Yes, the Hall IS a bit s**t. -
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Predictions

Yes, Kate Bush is more popular than the Clovers, and so are Celine Dion, Barry Manilow and the Backstreet Boys. Shall we put them in the Hall too? The Clovers were the first rock vocal group of note, they've had like 15 Top Ten hits in the early to mid-50's. Most importantly, they set the model that most other vocal groups followed and were the biggest group of their era. They're a dominant force in rock's evolution and one of the Hall of Fame's most indefensible exclusions. -

UK, Bibliogryphon, the missing key here is UK! And for the record, you mentioned "impact" and "influence" but what you are describing here is "popularity", which is what singles are for. In a perfect world, an artist like Kate Bush would have no business visiting the Hall without a ticket while LL Cool J, The Meters, Chic, The Clovers and other much, much more historically significant artists aren't there yet, but that's the Hall for ya. Your last sentence is all kinds of distressing (not to mention TOTALLY WRONG!) it literally gave me physical pain. It just hurts to read that. -

If this was a detailed breakdown of the current health issues of 50 famous UK nonagerians and centenarians with personal and random predictions about their death, 49 of which time will prove to be wrong, you'd be reading the living (and dying) shit of that But don't worry, there wasn't, atleast not for you. -
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Predictions

Wikipedia? Really, man. Really?! and by the way only TWO of these seven subgenres mentioned there are related to rock, so that's not really helping you. The vast majority of her input falls outside the genre's scope. Should they include Johnny Cash too because he made ONE rock song in his lifetime. Oh wait...They did!!! Like I said I am almost positive that she will get in. On the account that she and RatM are the perfect political picks that the Hall is fond of. Expect a long, touching speech full of allusions to the current political standpoint, expect tears and cheers, but that doesn't change the fact that Ms Simone, as great as she is, doesn't belong in a ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame. -
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Predictions

That's one of the saddest things I have ever read on this forum (and it's a forum dedicated to death, guys!!) Look, soul and hip-hop are 100%, irrefutable subgenres of rock. Not only that, but they are one the MAIN subgenres of rock and roll. Stylistically, historically and musically speaking, NWA and Marvin Gaye are AS ROCK as your Zeppelins and your Hendrixes. It doesn't always have to be white guys with loud guitars to be considered rock!! (I'm not accusing you of anything here, but you can't define rock the way YOU want Joey!). As for Nina Simone, it doesn't matter if she is talented or not, that's not really the issue here. The issue is that she never made a rock record in her lifetime and it's really an insult to her legacy to include her in a Hall that celebrates a genre she had nothing to do with. PS: Rap as a subgenre is much closer to the music of Chuck Berry and Fats Domino and other "roots of rock" than something like grunge, keep that in mind.
