Genuinely sad about this one. A real talent and someone who triumphed through adversity.

It's a human zoo! Everyone from Hillary Clinton to 3/4 of the Black Eyed Peas.

Pretty decent longevity in that sample. Certainly better than the likes of Sid James, Hattie Jacques and Tony Hancock himself.

Have you not listened to The Seekers? -
Thought it worth mentioning Helmut Berger in here as well as the D-A-CH thread. Studied in Perugia and remained in Italy for much of his life, was Luchino Visconti's partner for 12 years, and built his career on Italian productions and co-productions, including winning a David di Donatello for Ludwig.

Actually shocked, as I watched Conversation Piece, which Visconti directed him in, only last night! I watched their prior collaboration The Damned last week. (As you may gather from my avatar, I'm a fan of this period of cinema, and the likes of Visconti in particular)

About halfway through my listen to all of them. Definitely noticing that the first half of '64 was pretty dire, the latter half pretty fantastic. -

Lukashenko is also 'Chairman of the Supreme State Council' of the Union State, an obscure political union of Russia and Belarus that has never really amounted to anything, but could well serve as the most convenient vehicle for Putin to formally annex Belarus in the near future. Lukashenko has theoretically kept Russia at arms length for almost 30 years because of public pressure, but the extent to which he rules a truly independent country is highly debatable. Should he die, chances are that Putin would move quickly to take over.
