French chef Francis Darroze has died last week at the age of 90. One week later, on Friday, his own brother and chef Claude has also died, aged 80. They used to work together and were well known in the south of France and in their field apparently, mostly because Francis’ daughter is the famous (in France at least) Helene Darroze, « chef étoilée » and judge in « Top Chef » (the equivalent of Masterchef here).

I doubt it's serious. Yet her surroundings say she has "important and severe spasm". The most pessimistic one think she's bedridden and really weak, which I doubt. Her sister has whispered something about menopause so… I was supposed to see her in Paris in 2020 but apparently it won't be possible until 2023. We'll see. edit : in an other French article, it is said that she has again lost a lot of weight which (I quote) "could severely put her in danger". Anorexia ? I wouldn't be surprised…

I know. It’s my first time organising a pool, I rarely take part in any pool in here (only AO Deadpool) so I didn’t know about the timing. If this game works this year, next year I’ll make it start in March or something like that to please anyone Anyway, hope it will be fun and successful !

I agree that I don’t want to start it on the beginning of January with all the other usual pools. I thought making it start in December was better Also you were one of the only who showed enthusiasm about this game so I didn’t want to go against and annoy you.. I don’t get why everyone is so upset about the date, it doesn’t change much considering all the lists for some others pools are already pretty much done...

Agree. That’s also why I would love to begin it a little before the end of the year. I don’t wanna wait the next 6 or so months but anyway you’ll be able to add people throughout the year. Entries are now opened for those who want to participate. I myself will post my list in the next few days. Maybe you’d like to wait for the end of the months before giving any list but know that you’re allowed to change your list till the end of the month (30th November at midnight) by editing your post. also : I may add some « points system » updates in the first post before the end of the month if I think about some other events when we could gain or loose points. I’ll keep you updated.

The interest of beginning the pool on the first of December is to avoid putting the same list as AO for example in the beginning of 2022, in which case (as there’s only 20 picks here) you’ll be pretty insured to have the +20 pts corresponding to you entirely renewing your original list. If you don’t want your team spoiled, then you’ll have to go with more notable and obvious picks and keep your most unique and interesting one for later. The game is pretty simple so it has to be a little more strategic and complicated than just putting obvious names on the first of January. Here, you can in theory put everyone that you want since the beginning but the thing is, to avoid spoiler, you’ll probably be forced to make it little by little every time you’ll have a hit. It appears funnier in that way I think. You’ll have to take more risks than it first appears. let me know if you’re interested in participating. If the beginning in December is crippling then I’ll change for January but it would lose one of its interest. thanks !

the principle of a Deadpool is patience. If you don't wanna spoil any choice (ao Deadpool or others) then don't put them on the first month, anyway these are picks that need to be alive on the 1st of January for ao for example so it won't change anything. It forces you to take risk and not put people who are vaguely known and on the edge of death in the first month. Maybe they'll die and you'll feel angry to not have put them in here, maybe they won't and you'll be able to put them both in here (when you have a hit) and in your ao pool on the first of January for example. The only thing that you need to avoid on the first month is to not have any hit in which case you'r bossing a point. In order to do so, put names that are largely known and could die in a near future. This is the very principle of this pool !! it’s a race against time : if you don’t wanna put some of your choices in here since the beginning, then you’ll have to wait for one of your hit to place them, taking the risk that your « original choice » might pass meanwhile. That’s how it works
