Will update the score board and everything this week end as I'm a little late due to a lot of work. If you can, please check your list and let me know who died on it in addition to Navalny, McMillan, Bertin, Bowles and Myers

So .. What Do You Watch On TV?
Lafaucheuse replied to Banshees Scream's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
watching the crown for the first time (Yeah I know… I'm late…) and I thought what a shame they didn't cast Charles Dance to play old Philip, their resemblance is uncanny -
Mahathir Mohamad

Well, I’m not regretting my numerous mentions of her then. Has been on my lists for some years now and will stay in until she goes. Could this news qualify her for next year’s list ?

Oh wow that one is a shock ! I studied him a lot in my fashion classes, he was a key figure of the 80’s with Mugler and Gaultier, particularly known for his leather work if I remember well. A-lister for me but doubt he’s that famous for people non interested in fashion. what’s going on with french deaths ??

"fun" fact : Guillemin died on the 103 birthday of his wife who died in 2021, one month after her 100th birthday, as Roger.

Nobel Prize In Death
Lafaucheuse replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList Forum
Andrzej Wiktor Schally (wiki) who worked with Guillemin and received the Nobel Prize with him is till alive at 97 ! -
21 février 2024 Hit n°5 We've got a Prize ! " leaving 6 centenarians left. Given the current state of affairs, it is doubtful that there will be that many left at the end of the year…" we wrote yesterday after Presle's passing, unaware that on the same day, French-American neuroscientist Roger Guillemin made that prediction come true sooner than expected ! Guillemin was born in Dijon in 1924. After several years as a doctor in France, he moved to the United States were he pursued his career as a teacher and where he was ultimately naturalized. In the 1970's, him and his work-team discovered the existence of neurohormone, a chemical messenger produced by a neuron which acts like a hormone. This discovery earned them the Nobel Prize for medicine in 1977. His co-worker on the project, Andrzej Wiktor Schally, with whom he got some feud, is still alive aged 97. Throughout his long career, he received many prices amongst which the National Medal of Science and was inducted into both the American Academy of Science and the French Academy of Science. After his medical career, he began painting and was also inducted into the American Academy of Science and Arts. This year, he occupied the 45th spot of our list and becomes our 5th hit, the 4th of which in february : a spectacular month for french deathlist, and a devastating one for french centenarians. Let's hope it continues that way !

Roger Guillemin is a solo pick. Waiting for a qo…

21 février 2024 Hit n°4 La Sainte Chérie au Paradis Retrouvé Legendary actress Micheline Presle has died aged 101 to provide the French Deathlist with another quick hit. Presle was born in Paris in 1922 and started her film career in 1937. In 1940, "Paradis Perdu" launched her career and propelled her to the centre stage. In the following years, she became one of the leading-ladies of french cinema, alongside Michèle Morgan and Danielle Darrieux. In the meantime, she pursued her career in the United States where she met her second husband, actor and producer William Marshall, with whom she eventually had a daugther, the only female screenwriter Cesar-winner Tonie Marshall (for whom she played in ''Venus Beauty''). At the end of the 1960's, she stared in the succesfful TV-series "Les Saintes Chéries".During a career spanning 9 decades (!), she played alongside the most famous actors and actresses of her time, including Gerard Philippe ("The Devil in the Flesh", 1947), Paul Newman ("The Prize", 1963), Marcello Mastroiani ("L'assassino", 1961), Gina Lollobrigida, Alain Delon, Lino Ventura (and even @Book's favorite, Liselotte Pulver !), becoming herself a legend of french cinema. At the time of her death she was the doyenne of French cinema and occupied the 4th spot of our common list, becoming also our 4th hit and leaving 6 centenarians left. Given the current state of affairs, it is doubtful that there will be that many left at the end of the year…

Of course you don’t understand the implications of this, because if you did, you would have understand that there is none. Hence, you would have figured by yourself that it’s worthless posting

Obit to come. French deaths are pouring these last days…

J'ai failli le mettre jusqu'au dernier moment… j'aurais du ! l'année commence vraiment pas mal au niveau français, par rapport à l'année dernière

I predict the grim reaper is going to confound sceptics and be its most powerful yet like a super strong enema in 2024 moreso than recent years equalling or even beating 2020
Lafaucheuse replied to Gooseberry Crumble's topic in DeathList Forum
I get that its not a particularly exciting period in term of deaths but I don't think it's that bad. I think we all had great expectations after a busy first half of january and we thought it would go on forever but even if it has slowed down a bit, it's not as concerning as it may seem. I mean Navalny's death, as expected as it was, was still a shock. Jorge Toro, Dries Van Agt and Epstein were notable on the forum, Badinter and Pinera were high profile politicians, Toby Keith and Jonnie Irwin both forum favorites and drop 40 picks, not to quote Malaurie, Jayston, Weathers, Vitorrio Emmanuele… I know they are mostly first-half-of-the-month deaths but still, overall I don't think february is that bad. And the month is not over, I feel like a prominent death is coming soon for the list. Keep faith ! -
I know there is a connexion somewhere with fashion designer Diane but can’t see where
