    Summer Olympic Deaths/Dead Medallists

Omg, that is a shock ! I had a big crush on him a few years ago, I just googled him a few days ago while talking with friends… I don’t know many sportsman, even less in athletism, it’s weird to see that with Pamela Tiffin a few years ago, he’s the 2nd name (obscure one to clarify) that I knew prior to deadpooling to die out of nowhere and to make me feel weird about knowing them prior to deadpooling

    Derby Dead Pool 2024

Am I the only one who don’t get most of the headlines for the hits ? I find them quite far-fetched at times but it maybe because of cultural and verbal distance… « Glynis voted out » ? While something like « Glynis popped out » or « The Sundowner » would have been way more witty and efficient imho

    What are you drinking?

Chartreuse comes from my hometown ! It is said that only to priest of the Chartreuse order have the recipe and they are the 2 only priest Who can talk in order to control its production in some factory nearby. It’s fascinating how the liquor is fancy these days. Apparently the americans are mad about it since it appeared in some Tarantino movie. I tried to buy a bottle for new year’s Eve and every supermarket I went to were out of stock cause the Pères Chartreux refuse to increase their production. they plan to open a dedicated shop for Chartreuse in Paris for the Olympic Games this year and since they control so tediously the number of bottle produced, it explains the rarity. don’t know if you ever ran into these, but they also produce chartreuse candies which are Absolutely amazing. My grandfather is crazy about it.

    Hospitalised!

But the accident factor played a lot in the dramatic effect and how we remember it. A death at hospital following god-knows-What disease would be a shock but wouldn’t have the Same impact as Diana did imo

    Twisted DL 2023-2024

Well Anders Vendel it goes then ! Not sure he'll get a proper obit, in which case he'll be the first miss of the year. Also, Trump look-alike ? really ?

    Derby Dead Pool 2024

José Maria Marin (wiki), former brazilian politician and Fifa corruptor is a solo pick for my main team. Recently hospitalized after having suffered a stroke aged 91. Will probably obit as there is plenty of articles about his jail sentence a few years ago.

Barczyk isn't anymore ! Brian Barczyk is a solo hit for @Perhaps here and a miss for @gcreptile : one sub needed for both of you and a point for perhaps, congrats ! Chomsky enters your list Also, @CaptainChorizo : I subbed Stafford after Battersby's death (which was a miss as you said), but who the hell is Anders Vednel ? Can't seem to find anything about him…

as horrible as his crime were, we're not in middle ages anymore. Violence doesn't resolve anything, prison for life is a better option.

    Derby Dead Pool 2024

Wonderful work thanks ! Is it normal that both my main theme (La Faucheuse) and my french theme team (A la vie, à la mort) appeared « first year in DDP » Whereas they were there last year, I just changed the names

    French Deathlist 2024

Edgar Morin to publish a book lost over 40 years ago Line Renaud crying over the fact Françoise Hardy can't get legal euthanasia Phillipe Bouvard looking and sounding as sharp as a 80 yo man 3 weeks ago and coming back to the Grosses Têtes with Laurent Ruquier Florent Pagny saying he doesn't have the control over his cancer anymore Frédéric Mitterrand gains a ton of weight amid cancer (?) battle André Chandernagor now wheelchair-bound but still out and giving speeches Judith Magre and Pierre Richard (and Popeck) still in theatre Charles Dumont giving interviews about Edith Piaf but looking quite rough Also, just realized that Micheline Presle is quite similar to Olivia de Havilland and Roland Dumas quite similar to Henry Kissinger in terms of position in their field, age and notoriety in France.

    Alain Delon

beginning to think the rumors about his ill health are true. He might be a goner this year and should have been put instead (or in addition to) BB. He's making the front page for at least two weeks now and I'm beginning to doubt he'll see 2025 given he's not taking any medication and all his family feud might be a blow in his face. Almost left him out of my french DDP theme team. I'm glad I didn't.

actually, I'm glad it's not solely based on qo since it allows non-UK picks to be taken.

    In Memoriam 2023

Just sum up all your votes. A pretty interesting year and a lot of diverse answers, especially for the saddest one category in which only 2 people have 2 votes. Just one category has all votes (except one ) going for the same person, I'll let you guess which one

I think the rejection comes from the lack of wiki page ain't it right ? which is surely debatable but as much as qualifying obits so

    Alain Delon

apparently "very weak" according to his family : can't talk properly anymore, his son putting him to bed and waking him up in the morning, wheelchair-bound as we suspected, has lost his mind too. Has also failed 5 cognitive tests between 2018 and 2022 which (this is the best part of the article) led his son to fill a complaint against his sister cause she didn't let him know. Apparently his daughter Anouchka (who spent New Year's eve in hospital for whatever reason) wants him to be treated in Switzerland for "important illnesses". Has stopped medication and according to her and her lawyer this condemns him.

    French Deathlist 2024

11 janvier 2024 Hit n°1 Extinction de voix French actress Laurence Badie has died aged 95 to provide the french deathlist with its first success. Badie was born in Boulogne in 1928 and began her career in the theatre aged 19. She quickly turned to film, playing along with the most famous actors and actresses of the time such as Louis de Funès, Claude Gensac and even Kirk Douglas in Lust of Life (1956). After that, she became a recurrent boarder of the Académie des Neufs, a french cult TV Game of the 80's. She also was famous for her distinct high-pitch voice which she used for decades while dubbing some of the most famous sitcoms and cartoons of the times (such as Vera in Scooby Doo). She was selected this year at number 38 and becomes the first french deathlist hit ever. A quick and surprising one which, we hope, is just the beginning of a long serie.
