    Twisted DL 2022-2023

I will be glad to host the 2023-2024 edition of this pool ! I was thinking of establishing the qualifying obit rule of DDP and other pools here to avoid arbitrary judgements but I don't know how to set this up in order to avoid conflicts betweeen the sub names and the official names in case of a late obit. What do you think ?

    1. Jimmy Carter

Yes but the simple fact that he’s still able to take a car at 8 months on hospice care prove that his death is not imminent. He’s not bedriden for example. Prince Philip was discharged from hospital it’s another case. Here he’s still at home and clearly really week but it doesn’t mean death at all cost. He’ll see his birthday, maybe even 2024 but I doubt it (and if he does, please, put him at nº1, we do not care about this healthy DVD). or maybe this trip will have exhausted him and he’ll die tomorrow, who knows at this point with him

Spotted in a car in the plains for the peanut festival with Rosalynn. Don’t seem at death door. https://x.com/cartercenter/status/1705614230370541856?s=46&t=VLQV8Ut59pZ23BJfBvk4Lw
  10. Napolitano and the others mentionned linger for years. He could have died now or in 2-3 years. It’s not psychic it’s just guts and I could have mentioned hundred of old/ill people. Juste mentionned some whom I think will die soon.

    World's Oldest

New calment interview from 1988 resurfaced (in french) from Paris Match. She was interviewed aged 113 when she became world oldest person alive and there is plenty of precise memories of her childhood which I never herd of : her father constructing a boat named Jeanne and the departure of it, the Mistral exhibition in Arles in late XIXth… She also talked about her daughter which is rare. On another note, just found this picture of Camacho Quiros at 100. She looks 20 years less, impressive. that’s all, good night.

    Giorgio Napolitano

I hope he’ll linger a few months more just for the sake of having an immortal battle between him and Carter. Doubt we’re talking months here though. Maybe days.

    Non-British Royals

Only source is this french blog about royalty. Her french wiki page states She died on the 13th and her funeral are planned for the 23th. edit : death certificate (in french). Interesting to see she’s called by the name of her late husband in official document (not here though)

    Chirac's couple

How long will they last ? I'd give Jacques 1 year max

    Bernadette Chirac

Read your screenshot instead of rephrasing It : « expected to be reported by the UK média ». I can’t see a single scenario in which She didn’t get decent UK coverage When she goes. Again, if you do not care, move on. Some people (even british) care if I judge by the reaction of the first post of this thread. Won’t be answering anymore, I made my case clear. If you wanna argue then do, I still stand behind the creation of this thread (which is not the case with the Chirac couple one, I was young and unaware)
  17. Lafaucheuse

    Bernadette Chirac

I created it When I joined the forum in 2018 and wasn’t accustomed to its functionment. This Chirac couple thread was a mistake and as you just said it, it was highly vandalised. Don’t get Why some of you are so irritated by the thread of a non english figure. Famous, ill, old enough to have her own thread. Period. If you do not care about her, it’s up to you, move on.
  18. Lafaucheuse

    Bernadette Chirac

What’s the point of closing the thread ? It’s created and if you don’t care about her, then just move on. We’re not gonna argue all day about wether she’s famous enough, it’s irrelevant. For all the french out there, this thread is relevant. The end. And even for you brits, she’s not unknown. I’ve seen far more useless thread being created and never shut down. If you wanna close the thread because there is already a first lady thread, then I suggest you also close Rosalynn’s one, Mary Wildon and Clarisse Eden.

    Bernadette Chirac

That’s Why I’m talking about him : nowhere to meet the fame criteria of DL standards… and still, a welcomed hit ! Chirac is, I think, more famous right ?
  20. Lafaucheuse

    Bernadette Chirac

I completely agree. I think in terms of notoriety, there are better french names and I can understand that Bernadette is not that well known outside of France. However, Chirac is a safer bet than Delon, Bardot or even Polanski : Delon is a drama queen, Bardot is so hateful that it can carry her for some years (Cf. Le Pen) and she stills publishes things on her twitter etc, and Polanski is still active despite his age. Chirac on the other hand is a death cert in one year time, and this is not only according to me. I can't help but think that if the committee wants, they can have a easy hit with this one and if Bill Gates sr. made the list, then I don't see why she couldn't…
  21. Lafaucheuse

    Bernadette Chirac

Two of them being « neo-nazi » (yes, Bardot too) and Chirac quite conservative… talk about good image of France
  22. Lafaucheuse

    Bernadette Chirac

Famous enough, discussed enough here, picked enough in several pools, plus it’s not because you’re retired that you don’t deserved your own thread : if so, I’d say Al Fayed, Barker, Belafonte or Kundera didn’t deserve their own one. The point is also here to push her onto next year list (which, I know, is unlikely to happen but you never know !)

    Ideas and possibilities for 2024

Quebec writer, actress and journalist Janette Bertrand (wiki) must be one of the most healthiest 98 years old woman ever : she looks and sounds 20 years younger in this video from a month ago, that's impressive !

    French speaking deathlist

Je l’avais enlevé cette année car je n’étais pas sur qu’il soit assez connu. Apparement si au vu des nombreux hommages et articles sur sa mort. Dommage !
