Moi aussi. C’est pour ça que je l’ai enlevé de ma liste cette année, elle avait l’air en pleine forme… mais à son âge tout peut aller très vite… un peu déçu de la réactivité des médias aussi : pas de notification du monde ?

Hélène Carrere d’Encausse, president of the Académie Française dead at 94 ! An amazing and brilliant woman and a FABULOUS MISS FOR MY FRENCH LIST damn, her and De Fontenay were on it last year -
Hélène Carrere d’Encausse est morte !! +1 pour ma liste je crois ?

that's what being french turns you into…

As mentionned by @La Tombe, french author Maryse Conde (b. 1937) looks absolutely awful. She left Guadeloupe in 2007 for « health reason » and is still alive 13 years after. Will probably obit in UK. Such a prominent figure in France

Which A-list celebrity would receive the biggest media coverage if they died tomorrow?
Lafaucheuse replied to Hartnell 1999's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I’m not saying he’s not famous, but if you ask someone on the street who is the most famous footballer, Péle, Maradona, Beckham would come before him imo. I doubt he’ll receive the media coverage of Pele for example -

I doubt Charlton and Lloyd-Weber would get the Same coverage as the others. At least worldwild it would definitely be a little less significant. Beyoncé and Madonna on the other hand would get the media crazy for a whole month I think -
Over all the candidates of the official list since the beginning, Who are you considering the top immortals ? Gabor and Suharto ? Who else ?

Tbh she doesn’t look at death door on the video: she looks way better than the wheelchair photo a few weeks back. Ofc she’s frail and probably lost but she jokes about the aye at the end of the video and can still talk properly etc.. will probably make it to 2024.

among the list of The Greatest Frenchman (list here) from the eponymous show of 2005, the whole top 20 is dead. Here are the survivors from the top 100 : - 21 : Zinedine Zidane (footballer, 1972) - 41 : Michel Platini (footballer, 1955) - 45 : Michel Sardou (singer, 1947) - still active and all over the media to spread his conservative bullshit - 51 : David Douillet (judoka, 1969) - 53 : Jean Jacques Goldman (singer, 1951) - 56 : Yannick Noah (tennisman, 1960) - 60 : Nicolas Hulot (politician, 1955) - 62 : Alain Delon (actor, 1935) - we know his health scares… - 63 : Patrick Poivre d'Arvor (presenter, 1947) - convicted of sexual assault and harassment by numerous women. Seemed to have aged in his last appearances. Leukemia survivor when he was 12. Lost three of his child, Soleen from suicide and anorexia in 1995, Tiphaine at 2 months old and Garance from traffic collision. His wife died a month ago aged 81. Might finish him. - 64 : Aimé Jacquet (footballer, 1941) - looked a little frail in his last appearances and quite tired but probably has a few years left - 65 : Francis Cabrel (singer, 1951) - 66 : Brigitte Bardot (actress, 1934) - as for Delon, no need to explain here - 73 : Renaud (singer, 1952) - The french Shane McGowan. former alcoolic, chainsmoker (3 packs a day), drug addict, open heart surgery in 2021, hospitalised after a fall in 2019, again in 2020 for pulmonary emphysema, looked frail for years, in his last appearance he could hardly stand still and was constantly shaking. He'll be dead in 2 years max. - 74 : Bernard Kouchner (politician and humanitarian, 1939) - said to be on his last leg - 78 : Michel Drucker (presenter, 1942) - constant hospitalizations this last 2 years, 3 heart surgery since 2020 and possibly a heart attack a few years ago. Looked really frail in this last photo. 2 years max. - 87 : José Bove (politician, 1953) - 89 : Lionel Jospin (former PM, 1937) - said to be in poor health - 91 : Luc Besson (film director, 1959) - 97 : Catherine Deneuve (actress, 1943) - might have a few years left (has good genes based on her mother's final age) but a heavy smoker, stroke survivor and looked frail recently. She'll be 80 in october. Though still performing as Bernadette Chirac for an upcoming movie in october. A friend of mine had her multiple times in his shop in Paris and said that she was the only person who was allowed to smoke inside, his directors were aware and told him "It's Catherine, we can't say anything"… Quite a funny story ! - 99 : Gerard Depardieu (actor, 1942) - obese, alcoholic, smoker and from when I saw him in concert last year, he couldn't stand still (was always sit on his chair) and was short or breath. But still able to perform so not a risk for now. Renaud, Drucker, Bardot and Jospin are the upcoming deaths here

Looks worse than a week ago imo : thinner, paler, and the nose tube is new which is not a good sign. I’d be surprised if he is discharged anytime soon, he looks horrible. Also, is he on the immortal list ? If not he might deserve a shot for 2024…

De Fontenay yahoo obit. A unique DDP hit for my Drop Dead Diva theme team. Still baffled that Claude Sarraute didn't get one

Pope Francis has arrived at the World Youth Day of Lisbonne in wheelchair and has lost a ton of weight according to first pictures. Should be included in 2024.

She was quite controversial and made a lot of bad buzz when she refused trans women participation in the Miss France contest. She was quite conservative and was quite a joke for people around me. Still she was inimitable. -
Geneviève de Fontenay est morte ! Not a miss with Genevieve, +1 pour ma liste ! edit… je l'ai enlevé de ma liste cette année… un grand loupé, je m'en veux !

De Fontenay dead at 90 !! huge huge news in France
-
And while am at it, Piaf’s sister Denise Gassion (b. 1931) is supposedly alive at 92. Nothing new since a video of her from 2013. As for Richer (and maybe even more) I think if she were dead, we would have heard of it ?
-
Ginou Richer (b. 1927), Edith Piaf secretary and friend Who wrote a book about their relation is supposedly still alive at 96. She was interviewed a lot back in 2015 when the movie La Môme came out and she looked good but can’t find anything else since. I think her death would have been reported on Piaf’s fanpages… if anyone cares to investigate Here in 2015 with Marion Cotillard.

When I joined the forum a while back now (was it 2017 or 2018 ?), people were already talking about him being hospitalized and "not having long left". I added him to my AO list the year after thinking he would score some points. It has been 5 years ago...
