Too tired to attend the opening of an exhibition on his life in Antibes (south of France). His son went on his behalf. Might be worth to keep in mind.
-
Well, It may be nothing, but all of these recent concerns make me believe he deserves a spot on next year’s list, along with Berlusconi (considering they both reach 2024)
-
Both I think
-
I was supposed to see her… it’s been 4 years since I got the tickets, I already saw her once but I doubt I ever gonna see her again… poor woman does she deserve a top 50 place next year ?
-
I tend to be a little less impressed by Lawson than the other two tbh : the guy was into his 90´s anyway so that’s a fortunate coincidence but not a stroke of genius for me. Turner was though. Also, JLL wasn’t that impressive when you put in perspective how frail he looked prior to making the list and his ailments. I wouldn’t say hits that appeared in few list are more impressive than others. What is impressive with Tina is she could have died a few years ago or in a few years and on their 2 prediction one of them was right which represents 50% success. Carter on the other hand…

Agree. An interesting pick indeed, only two appearances and a drop, that’s a great job. If she had died while not being on the list, I wouldn’t have considered her a miss which, on the contrary reasoning means she was a great pick.

Oh god that’s another big one in France ! Singer Jean Louis Murat dead at 71. He was one of my parents favorite singer, a really talented guy both in performance and lyrics. A niche name though since he didn’t reach the stardom he deserved. -
What was her illness though ? Except from the stroke I can’t find anything about the « long illness » she supposedly passed away from
-
Yeah, i agree but some or them are younger + I don’t feel like they have the Same fame as Diana, Dolly, Cher and Tina. The four of them are legends that everybody knows in some ways whereas the ones you mentioned are more « niche » names for music enthusiast I feel. I can be wrong though
-
Yes that’s What I said, they are the last of this generation
-
I think she had another stroke which finished her off, hence that turnaround…
-
Well, Tina Turned down… which means Mel Brooks jumps right in as sub 2 and you still need another sub
-
Congrats on that quick and unexpected success. New round opened !
-
She was one of the very last greats from that generation along with Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Cher, Dolly Parton and hum… who else ?

Not years. Weeks. Maybe months. I reckon he’ll go somewhere in early october, but that’s maybe too long from now

A few words by his UN ambassador Andrew Young makes me think his health is not as bad as it sounded at first : he said that he can still talk, laugh and « he greets everybody, it’s amazing to see how many names he remembers. ». It doesn’t sound like he is bedridden and fed through a tube like what was said about Rolf Harris 6 months ago… of course it could just be a friend trying to hide the sad truth but I do believe he has still weeks to live.
-
I understand your frustration but it wouldn’t change anything : the date of annoucement is the only one that matters in this Game as I can’t go backward and add someone Who was on your sub list after his/her death. Don’t know if I’m explaining myself well but Clarke was announced dead before Harris so he wouldn’t have score any point. on another hand, I do agree that I should have allowed him, didn’t realize he was famous enough. For next year’s game, I may bring the obit rule as for DDP to avoid any frustration

Rolf in Hell ! The paedo was a popular pick ans ends up being a hit for Charles de Gaulle, ladyfiona, Summer in Transylvania, khtonia, theoldlady, wannamaker, WEP, Perhaps, handrejka, gcreptile, Torva Messor, Captain Chorizo, Sean, Book, Great Uncle in Bulgaria and me ; and a miss for @BuffaloPhil (Dignam in) @Insane Who thus need to provide a New sub. great job to everyone, one point each : when thé game started, everyone added Harris to their subs list saying he would never make thé official list : 6 months later, he’s only a miss for 2 people ! @Charles De Gaulle : Ted Turner in. It’s your last chance to submit 3 subs, if you don’t, then I’ll remove you from the Game. @ladyfiona : Frank Field in and Nolan on the sub bench @Summer in Transylvania : Esther Rantzen in and Glynis Johns as sub 3 @Khthonia : Roberta Flack in but I’m afraid Barczyk doesn’t qualify for this game. Please choose another sub. @theoldlady : Paul Hogan in and Katie Keltie in @wannamaker : Jonnie Irwin in and Michael Tilson Thomas in the waiting line @WEP : Roman Kostomarov in and Christoph Daum as new sub @Perhaps : Daniel Ellsberg in and Patrick Murray as sub 3 @gcreptile: Mike Sertich in, a sub to choose @Handrejka : Yvonne Furneaux in Roy Meadow in the waiting room @Toast : James Whale in Christy Dignam on subs list @Torva Messor : Jimmy Carter in (that was close) and Christy Dignam as sub 3 @CaptainChorizo : Carter in, Rosalynn that is, and Black Bart as sub 3 @Sean : Esther Rantzen in and Patrick Murray on the bench @Book : Nick Anderton in and Nolan as new sub @Great Uncle Bulgaria : Glynis Johns in Christy Dignam added Hope I didn’t make any mistake, I’ll update the scoreboard later as I spent one hour to sum up this on my phone !

Who's next ? Kundera for me
-
Who’s next ? didn’t realize that list was so good and interesting. Good work.
-
As I love random facts, I noticed there is a pattern of 2-3 and 4 spots between each hits from bottom to top. In order to continue this trend we either need Rollins or Kundera to go. I can see that happening. anyway, want with random Newhart
