    French speaking deathlist

Ma liste à moi ressemblera à quelque chose comme ça : 1. Edgar Morin 2. Roland Dumas 3. Micheline Presle 4. André Chandernargor 5. Jean Malaurie 6. Francoise Gilot 7. Philippe de Gaulle 8. Francoise Hardy 9. Bernadette Chirac 10. Jacques Delors 11. Catherine Laborde 12. Robert Badinter 13. Edouard Balladur 14. Jean Piere Serre 15. Helène Langevin Joliot 16. Jean Marie Le Pen 17. Laurent de Brunhoff 18. Marcel Zanini 19. Maryse Condé 20. Paul Barril 21. Genevieve de Galard Terraube 22. Marcel Amont 23. Charles Dumont 24. Philippe Bouvard 25. Laurence Badie 26. Marie-France Garaud 27. Pierre Nora 28. Emmanuel Leroy Ladurie 29. Claude Bessy 30. Pierre Joliot 31. Yvon Gattaz 32. Yvonne Furneaux 33. Anne Vernon 34. Helene Ahrweiler 35. Martial Solal 36. Anne-Aymone Giscard d'Estaing 37. Anouk Aimée 38. Just Fontaine 39. Helene Carrère d'Encausse 40. Genevieve de Fontenay 41. Hubert Reeves 42. Jacques de Larosière 43. Jacqueline de Ribes 44. Isabelle Balkany 45. Catherine Robbe Grillet 46. Claude Saraute 47. Raphael Gemiani 48. Judith Magre 49. Francois Cheng 50.

    French sweepstake

Another pool idea as I'm being generous these days. Post a French name who can die soon. One celebrity per person. The first one to die scores 1 point and the game start over which means you all have to choose another (or the same if you're fast) French name. The game starts now and end on the 31st of December 2022. You can join whenever you want. Good luck ! Standings : Drol : 1 point Hits :
  6. Found this amazing video of Olivia De Havilland presenting the former Oscar Winner at the 75th Oscar Ceremony in 2003 : A lot of them are dead now. I thought it would be fun to have a sweepstake with the remaining one. Here are the nominees remaining in order of apparition in the video : • Dame Julie Andrew (b. 1935) : best actress for Mary Poppins in 1964 • Kathy Bates (b. 1948) : best actress for Misery in 1990 • Halle Berry (b. 1966) : best actress for Monster's ball in 2002 • Nicholas Cage (b. 1964) : best actor for Leaving Las Vegas in 1995 • Sir Michael Caine (n. 1933) : best supporting actor for Hannah and her sisters in 1986 and The Cider House Rules in 1999 • Georges Chakiris (b. 1934) : best supporting actor for West Side Story in 1961 • Jennifer Connelly (b. 1970) : best supporting actress for A Beautiful Mind in 2001 • Geena Davis (b. 1956) : best supporting actress for Accidental Tourist in 1988 • Daniel Day Lewis (b. 1957) : best actor for My Left Foot in 1990 • Michael Douglas (b. 1944) : best actor for Wall Street in 1988 • Robet Duvall (b. 1931) : best actor for Tender Mercies in 1984 • Brenda Fricker (b. 1945) : best supporting actress for My Left Foot in 1990 • Cuba Gooding Jr. (b. 1968) : best supporting actor for Jerry Maguire in 1997 • Louis Gossett Jr. (b. 1936) : best supporting actor for An Officer and A Gentleman in 1982 • Joel Grey (b. 1930) : best supporting actor for Cabaret in 1972 • Tom Hanks (b. 1956) : best actor for Philadelphia in 1993 and Forrest Gump in 1994 • Marcia Gay Harden (b. 1959) : best supporting actress for Pollock in 2000 • Dustin Hoffman (b. 1937) : best actor for Kramer vs. Kramer in 1979 and Rain Man in 1988 • Anjelica Houston (b. 1951) : best supporting actress for Prizzi's Honor in 1985 • Claude Jarman Jr. (b. 1934) : outstanding child actor for The Yearling in 1946 • Shirley Jones (b. 1934) : best supporting actress for Elmer Gantry in 1960 • Sir Ben Kingsley (b. 1943) : best actor for Gandy in 1982 • Marlee Matlin (b. 1965) : best actress for Children of a Lesser God in 1886 • Hayley Mills (b. 1946) : outstanding child actor for Pollyana in 1960 • Rita Moreno (b. 1931) : best supporting actress for West Side Story in 1961 • Jack Nicholson (b. 1937) : best actor for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in 1975, As Good as it Gets in 1997 and best supporting actor for Tearms of Endearments in 1983 • Magaret O'Brien (b. 1937) : outstanding child actor for Meet me in St. Louis in 1944 • Tatum O'Neal (b. 1965) : outstanding child actor for Paper Moon in 1973 • Julia Roberts (b. 1967) : best actress for Erin Brokovich in 2000 • Eva Marie Saint (b. 1924) : best supporting actress for On The Waterfront in 1954 • Susan Saradon (b. 1946) : best actress for Dead Man Walking in 1996 • Mira Sorvino (b. 1967) : best supporting actress for Mighty Aphrodite in 1996 • Sissy Spacek (b. 1949) : best actress for Coal Miner's Daughter in 1980 • Mary Steenburgen (b. 1953) : best supporting actress for Melvin and Howard in 1980 • Meryl Streep (b. 1949) : best supporting actress for Kramer vs. Kramer in 1979 and best actress for Sophie's Choice in 1983 • Barbra Streisand (b. 1942) : best actress for Funny Girls in 1969 • Hillary Swank (b. 1974) : best actress for Boys Don't Cry in 1999 • John Voigt (b. 1938) : best actor for Coming Home in 1979 • Christopher Walken (b. 1943) : best supporting actor for The Deer Hunter in 1978 • Denzel Washington (b. 1964) : best supporting actor for Glory in 1989 and best actor for Training Day in 2001 • Catherine Zeta-Jones (b. 1969) : best supporting actress for Chicago in 2003 • Chris Cooper (b. 1951) : best supporting actor for Adaptation in 2003 • Nicole Kidman (b. 1967) : best actress for The Hours in 2003 • Adrien Brody (b. 1973) : best actor for The Pianist in 2003 Out of all of them, some are quite young (the youngest is Hillary Swank born in 1974) so not worth considering for now, others have been forum favorite (Michael Caine, Rita Moreno), others are not so much talked about (Joel Grey, Claude Jarman Jr.) and the oldest of them all is Eva Marie Saint born 1924. Of course some of them on the list won additional Oscars after 2003 but I didn't include them (Meryl Streep for example). Choose who you think will be the next nominee to leave the stage. One winner per person and you can't choose the same as someone else : be fast. New round every death. Good Luck.

    15. Jean-Marie Le Pen

Akihito staying on the list is strange as it has been for these past 3 or so years but now that he will be 90, it makes more sense. le pen is a must for the list yes. Top 5 should be Carter, Kissinger, Barker, Bennett and delors in that order (maybe greenspan could replace bennett or delors)

Not just that but the story about her communion dress for exemple is so precise that I don’t think her own daughter could have invented it. People investigated and found the exact same couturier who did it
  15. Lafaucheuse

you're right but the details that Calment gave about her life in the last interviews of her would be hardly known by anyone even by her own daughter (her meeting with Van Gogh, the name of the person who made her communion dress, the name of her piano teacher who wasn't even in the region when Yvonne was in age of playing piano herself etc…). It can happen true but an old people (sometimes quite frail as Calment in her last years and loosing his/her mind) would have been tired of this lie or would have made a mistake. She never did so I don't think your theory is working

I remember reading in this book that in the insurance world, Calment's age was known to be fake. Apparently (but it's just gossip coming from who knows who) the insurance that was supposed to pay her rent until her death discovered the truth about the switch identity and noticed it to the French government which asked them to not tell anyone and to continue paying her the rent. Apparently it was a common example of insurance fraud but don't know what that's worth tbh.

also, just found this new article about the case of a french man named Juhan Russeil, supposedly born in 1484 and dead in 1608 at the age of 124. This case first came to fame in 2000 but was quickly forgotten until recently when a genealogist from Deux Sevres department found this case. Probably fake but there is a death act and I just found it funny.

plus, there is no goal in doing so. her taxe inheritance were really slow apparently and people proved it. I don't think she faked it tbh. But I can understand why people think so. Anyway, we can all agree that this Russian study is bullshit as the writer wasn't a researcher at all and was linked to the Kremlin which tries to diminish the health and scientist progress of western countries what I don't understand is why French government don't want to exhume the bodies of both Calment ladies and have an ADN test. It would fixe the thing once and for all.
