Mermaz was not ont the list, I just reported the News here as this was the only thread from the main forum Where he was mentioned but you’re right En Passant, I said it myself in the past, this one thread should only be about french deathlist candidates and the « french speaking deathlist » about french deaths. I just mistake once

Not a shock at all, but still surprised in a way. A miss for the list, I always said Bardot would outlive him and he would die in august, it reminded me of Jeanne Moreau. At least this Time it was not just attention seeking… I was in the plane from Tokyo when receiving the News. My last big trip was in New York when the queen died and I thought to myself : « who’s it gonna be this Time ? ». Not the Same caliber but I’d take Delon.

Joan Collins ultra glamorous British actress and Hollywood star
Lafaucheuse replied to Gooseberry Crumble's topic in DeathList Forum
Just found out she was linked to the Ramfis Trujillo scandal. All the actresses that Trujillo frequented are born in 1933 and still alive : Collins ofc, Kim Novak and Debra Paget and he ultimately married Lita Milan. Wonder which one of them will be the first to go -

Glad I put him on my list, should really be considered for next year, he has the Same gaunt appearance as Bucharach and Newhart had one year before their demise

I predict the grim reaper is going to confound sceptics and be its most powerful yet like a super strong enema in 2024 moreso than recent years equalling or even beating 2020
Lafaucheuse replied to Gooseberry Crumble's topic in DeathList Forum
completely agree with that. What I was saying earlier is just that fame should be taken into consideration. I would loose all interest in deathlist if people like Jonnie Irwin, Theo Burrell, Tim BIlton and others were to be included over legends like Aldrin, Eastwood, Castro… There's a crosspoint to find between fame and health status. -

completely disagree. The aim of the list is to predict celebs who could die this year. Hence, A lister nonagenarians such as Aldrin, Van Dyke, Brooks and other should be on even if they don't have any known health issues. They're too big to miss and I couldn't explain why younger people with less notoriety but a terminal diagnosis would be on the list over them (i.e. Tim Bilton or Theo Burrell). It would simply not make any sense. -

that is indeed a very poor year. But, hey, two things : 1) the year is not out. I'd say either we'll have a busy autumn or 2025 will be a literal bloodbath. I still can't see Carter, Chomsky or Woodward reaching 2025. 2) We did have interesting deaths and prominent ones : A listers such as Navalny, O.J. Simpson, Shuterland, Shelley Duvall, Shannen Doherty, Hardy or Chita Rivera ; old forum favorites (Corman, Johns, Munro, Jewison, Newhart) ; ill Drop 40 picks (Frank Field, Derek Draper, Simon Cowell, Jonnie Irwin, Toby Keith) and even a few immortals (Zhang Lixiong, Ma Shitu, Shi Ping, Kabosu, Tin Oo, Manolic…). I wouldn't say the year is THAT bad, just the ones we were sure would score are still inexplicably going, hence the frustration… That said, I wouldn't be mad if we don't have any other hit for the remaining year. If we can't break the record for the most hits, let's break the one for the least hits. Also, from a French perspective, the year has been triumphal with only prominent A Listers names (lingerers or sudden ones) dying one after the other. -
appeared in a video with his son for the 83th anniversary of his late wife. The videos were taken a while back as they wear winter clothes. He seemed real frail back then, using a walker but still sharp of mind…

5th of July 2024 Hit n°14 Géminiani meurt à son tour Bicycle champion Raphaël Géminiani has died prematurely aged 99 to provide another quick score for our 2024 list. Géminiani was born in 1925 in Clermont-Ferrand from an Italian family escaping fascism. After having worked in a bicycle shop and practicing rugby, Géminiani began his professional cycling career in 1946, following the footsteps of his own brother. His first Tour de France was in 1947 and he won overall 7 stages of the Tour between 1949 and 1955. In 1953, Géminiani won French National Road Race Championships, becoming one of the most famous and successful racing champion of the time alongside the likes of Louison Bobet, André Darrigade or Raymond Poulidor. He also won the Mountains classification in the Giro d'Italia in 1952 and 1957 and earned the nickname of "the top gun" at this time. In the latter part of his life, Géminiani became a racing coach and became an avid entrepreneur and businessman. Géminiani was selected this year at n°35 and shows that not anyone who makes it to 99 makes to to 100… His death marks another quick success before a slow period for our deathlist who sees a lot of old and frail celebs dying recently…

3rd of July 2024 Hit n°13 Roland Dumas passe l'arme à gauche Former president of the Constitutional Council and minister of Foreign Affairs Roland Dumas has died aged 101 to score the 13th hit of our French common list. Dumas was born in Limoges in 1922 and became a resistance fighter in his home region after the death of his father was shot by the Gestapo for being himself a prominent resistant. After the war, Dumas studied law and quickly became a political lawyer, bonding with prominent political figure of the time such as Robert Badinter (with whom he worked for a brief period) and the young François Mitterrand. He stayed close to Mitterrand and became minister of European affairs in 1983. During Mitterrand's time in office, Dumas secured top political spots such as Spokesperson of the Government (1984) and Minister of Foreign Affairs for almost ten years (1984-1993). In 1995, Dumas became the President of the Constitutional Council until 2000, succeeding to his friend and fellow deathlist pick Robert Badinter. Badinter
