    Olivia De Havilland

Oh my. I thought she would live forever. Best American actress of the late 1940ies. The dark mirror, the heiress. And she made two great thrillers during the 1960ies: Lady in a cage & Hush hush sweet Charlotte. It would be a sin to remember her only as Melanie. Perhaps Renée Simonot & Norman Lloyd are the ones who will go next?

Nina Andreyeva (1938) has died. This Soviet history teacher was at the center of the so-called Nina Andreyeva affair in 1988. There has always been a rumor, that her letter "I cannot forsake my principles" has been manipulated by Gorbachev's chief ideologe Yegor Ligachev, before being published. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nina_Andreyeva N.B: Ligachev himself is still alive & will celebrate his 100th. birthday in November.

He won't get a British obituary, but it's not very likely that popular German singer Tony Marshall will survive this year. He was diagnosed with Diabetes a couple of years ago, went into a coma, lost 35 kilos & undergoes dialysis three times a week.

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2021

There has been a growing number of reports on the long-term physical & psychological damage from Covid 19. I think that some famous people on Deathlist's Covid-thread won't survive Covid 20. Especially those who have not just been diagnosed, but hospitalized: Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, Mylène Demongeot...

Yesterday evening. He broke his ankle two years ago, but his accident did not lead his wife to the idea of wearing sensible shoes. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-8556401/Michael-Caine-87-cuts-dapper-figure-joins-glamorous-wife-Shakira-73-dinner.html

I was curious to see how Arlene Dahl (1925) is doing. One year ago, she did not look too bad for her age: https://fabiosa.com/ctclb-rsafr-auimk-pbadb-phpvg-the-golden-age-of-hollywood-star-arlene-dahl-is-over-90-but-still-mesmerizes-with-her-graceful-beauty/ But now her home is on the market: https://hvmag.com/home-real-estate/properties/mgm-actress-arlene-dahls-rockland-home-lists-for-6-5-million/ French actor Robert Hossein (1927, photo from March 2020) looks far better than Jean Paul Belmondo (1933, photo from June 2020), but everything is possible at his age, of course.

If the Soviet Union managed to survive three cadaverous general secretaries during the early 1980ies, it ought to be a cinch for the mighty United States to weather the rule of a self-pitying, senile or bipolar president. If my prediction is incorrect, I hope at least that Gorbachev is still around to enjoy the view & die with a smile on his face.

It's just Sputniknews, but since the rumors about John Lewis came true... There are apparently people on social media who claim that Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko (1954) was hospitalized after a hypertensive crisis. https://sputniknews.com/europe/202007191079931666-belarusian-presidents-spokeswoman-refutes-rumors-of-lukashenkos-hospitalisation/

    Ruth Bader Ginsburg

She's very old & had a fulfilled life. No reason to wail because of her. Trump can nominate whoever he wants, but time is running short & the Democrats will delay the procedure, if necessary. Besides, Trump's judges did not exactly vote the way he hoped they would. So Democrats have no reason to tear their hair out.

    Crew Of USS Enterprise

When you look at season three, don't forget Mariette Hartley (1940), the most beautiful woman who ever appeared in this series. (in "All our yesterdays). She's a founder of the "American foundation for suicide prevention". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariette_Hartley Edit: After writing that Hartley is involved in suicide prevention, I found out, that two very young celebrities took their lives today. A twenty year old Russian Olympic skater jumped from a window & a thirty year old Japanese actor was found hanged in his closet. Very sad. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ekaterina_Alexandrovskaya https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haruma_Miura

Could be a great addition to next year's list, if he survives this year. Who could ever forget that George Bush Sr waged a war, because this Emir wanted his gas station country back?

    Opera

I just found out, that Antonietta Stella (born 1929), one of the last great divas, is still alive. She looked very healthy last year, when she celebrated her 90th anniversary, but one never knows... Edit: Met star Lucine Amara (1924), who sang with Corelli & Richard Tucker is also alive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucine_Amara ...and so are Grace Bumbry (1937), Martina Arroyo & Gwyneth Jones (1936).

This is another heavy blow for John Travolta, after the death of his son. Very sad news. I always enjoyed Preston's performance in "The Experts", a funny and original film, though few critics will agree.

Glad to see, that this news wasn't Olivia's death. When will they pull "Lady in a cage"? I remember, that one of the thugs who terrorized her in this film was jewish (James Caan), and another one was non-white. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onNOyPIbP48
