Who will win the 2020 US Presidential Election?
ThePrematureBurial replied to Windsor's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I wonder if Trump will repeat George Bush senior's mistake from 1992. If he doesn't resist the temptation of raising taxes to pay for reconstruction after covid & riots, a fiscally responsible third party candidate like Ross Perot might steal his thunder. -
Ideas and Possibilities for 2021

I just found out that Gorbachev's chief ideologist & nr.2 in the politburo, Yegor Ligachyov (Ligachev), born in 1920, is still alive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yegor_Ligachyov He was the "brain" behind Gorbachev's failed anti-alcohol campaign & the one who recruited Boris Yeltsin as co-worker. He was also involved in Yeltsin's sacking in 1987. If he survives this year, he'll be one of the most famous centenarians alive. -

I think right now, that everybody except Sutcliffe, Marcos, Kissinger, prince Philip & Cheney are boring. Olivia de Havilland, for instance, has written an incredibly boring autobiography. Giscard d'Estaing has become a little bit less boring, after allegedly molesting this female reporter, though. -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berith_Bohm Swedish opera singer Berith Bohm died last week aged 87. Not really famous, but but her photo in the Wiki article is terrifying. This is how she looked in 1965, when she was just 33.

I predict, that the most boring persons on this year's deathlist will survive & that the committee will put their names on next year's list. -
Cold & rainy summer. Or drought & forest fires. More interference from the government, like tracing apps that enable politicians, employers & insurance companies to gain an insight into our medical histories. These apps will be "optional", but without them we won't be allowed to enter most shops. Higher taxes. Property taxes for the middle class. Abolition of cash. Everybody will be forced to pay with credit cards, like in Venezuela.

She didn't make a political statement. Old ladies like to talk about their health & old actresses certainly enjoy the attention from the press. If you believed, that a certain drug saved you miraculously, wouldn't you spread the message into the world?

Lovers of French films will never forget him. I have seen "Les choses de la vie" & "La grande bouffe" at least four or five times through the years. -

Famous French actress Mylène Demongeot (84, Fantomas), survived her illness thanks to cloroquine. (long interview in French). https://www.journaldesfemmes.fr/people/magazine/2631989-mylene-demongeot-coronavirus-diarrhees-poids/ She also said in another interview that, when she was making a film until the confinement, the technicians wore masks, the actors of course not. When they transported her to the hospital, she was nearly dying & the doctors refused to intubate her. She also survived cancer of the peritoneum & a chemotherapy.

I don't know if this BBC article counts as an obit, but famous French baritone Gabriel Bacquier (1924-2020) is a hit for me. (24 points). https://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/3a36b2b8-5450-4464-9bee-d7a0ab6dd255 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabriel_Bacquier

Conspiracy Theories
ThePrematureBurial replied to the_engineer's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
There are rumors, that the Chinese government plans to withhold the delivery of anesthetics needed for the intubation of Corona patients. Can't Western Governments simply buy the good stuff (made from opium poppy) legally from countries like Afghanistan & Mexico instead? They used to set opium fields on fire & this seems like such a waste right now. Would help these countries & us & administer a severe blow to the drug cartels into the bargain. -

Governments who threat their subjects horribly: MINE Tomorrow, our dear chancellor will force Austrians to download a tracking app on their smartphones. 2 million Austrians don't own one. They will get some tracking device for their house keys. Edit: The opposition voted against the surveillance state - for the time being. Looks like the poor French will get it before us, despite the fact, that 53% of the population are against it. https://www.bfmtv.com/societe/une-majorite-de-francais-contre-une-application-obligatoire-de-type-stopcovid-sur-leur-telephone-1892571.html- 26 replies

Best videos about making a simple mask. No sewing, no glue. https://twitter.com/fakerapper/status/1246177574398689280 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJaVBt8q6g8 -
Fans of old movies will certainly know Lucia Bosè, who worked with Fellini, Antonioni, Duras after she became miss Italy. And Terrence McNally wrote "Kiss of the Spider Woman" & "Master Class".
