Pierre Simonet, a World War II French liberation hero and one of three surviving soldiers decorated by Charles de Gaulle for his role in the liberation of France, has died. He was 99. Marguerite Littman, a socialite and founder of the AIDS Crisis Charity, has died. She was 90. Littman met a number of celebrities, including writer Truman Capote, who is said to have based the Holly Golightly character in Breakfast at Tiffany's after Littman. Jim Neilson, who played over 1,000 games in the NHL from 1962 to 1978, the bulk with the New York Rangers, has died. He was 78. That's two former Cook Islands Prime Ministers to die in just over three months. Considering there have only ever been 10 PMs in its 55-year history, I'd say that's somewhat unusual.

Michel Auger, a big name in Quebec journalism, has died. He was 76. Auger's speciality was crime reporting, something that didn't endear him to the local underworld. Jihadd, the son of Philadelphia rapper Freeway (Leslie Edward Pridgen), has died. He was 19. No cause of death was given. I had Freeway in the 2019 AODP, as he was awaiting a kidney transplant at the time. He received it in February 2019. Preston Jowers, a Tuskegee Airman who served in the US Army Air Forces during World War II as an airplane mechanic, has died. He was 105.
