Just checked and I put Lansbury at #20, will probably not be my last hit as the #21 spot belongs to none other than Rolf Harris

I've never told people close to me I'm visiting this site or participating in pools, however I am often the one who breaks the news of famous people's deaths to family and friends. If I'd tell someone about the DL, it'd probably be my partner and maybe some friends.

Maggie Smith Robin Williams (or at least he was) Jim Cummings Bill Nye Jimmy Carter (while there's enough about his presidency to criticize, I've never heard people who actively dislike him personally) And Attenborough indeed.

Karin Hazelhoff Roelfzema, widow to Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema (1917-2007) has passed away. She was 93 years old. As you might know, Erik was a Dutch student who became a resistance fighter during WW2, eventually sailing to London and becoming one of Queen Wilhelmina's main assistants. He became well known as the "Soldier of Orange". Besides being an editor and advisor to Erik during the writing of his autobiography (which was made into a film by Paul Verhoeven in 1977 as well as a musical which has been on stage since 2010), Karin was an interior designer and one of the founders of Ulu La'au, the Waimea Nature Park in Hawaii. The couple married in November 1958 and had been living in Hawaii since the 1970's, which Karin continued to do after her husbands death.

The grand Old Duke of Kent
ThereWillBeDeaths7 replied to Octopus of Odstock's topic in DeathList Forum
Could see either of the Duke and Duchess of Kent appear next year - regardless of health. Another possibility is after the first of the pair passes away, the surviving one will be selected the year after. Anyway, the Duchess will be 90 next February and the Duke 88 at the end of next year - even loads of healthy elderly people can decline very sudden at that age, certainly after the death of their longtime spouse. As for Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, I could only see them added to the list once the older Kents have passed away or it becomes known they have an acute ilness. -

How come this years deathlist is doing so poorly?
ThereWillBeDeaths7 replied to Charles De Gaulle's topic in Dead Pools
There are currently thirty (!) breathing nonagenarians on this years list, a couple of which weren't even expected to see 2020 (Phillips, Barker etc.) let alone mid-2022. Same for Pelé who would undoubtedly be seen as a big miss had he not been selected this year. Just goes to show you can shove as many elderly famous "too big to miss" people on a list as you want, people will go when they go, with no certainty of a high hit count end of year. -
