Bram van der Vlugt (86) was known for portraying the well renowned (Dutch) precursor to Santa Claus, Sinterklaas from 1986 to 2010, with occasional portrayals since then A great actor who was part of many a child's upbringing, also known for playing in TV shows like Dokter Deen and Willem van Oranje (1984). I thought he would live at least another five years and so did he apparently; his obit mentions he expected to reach the age of 95 - and his fear for getting COVID-19 RIP

J. Bruce Ismay, chairman and managing director of White Star Line, went down on this day 83 years ago, aged 74. Popular depictions of Titanic sinking tend to demonise him; when looking for a more nuanced look on his life, I'd suggest reading "How To Survive The Titanic Or The Sinking Of J.
