Same problem as the others seem to have is that Kundera rarely showed up for such events, mainly because of health reasons and a complicated relationship with the Czech Republic. Here's his Czech translator (didn't think he'd need one?) Anna Kareninová accepting the Franz Kafka Prize 2020; which was awarded to Kundera. (Likewise, I could see why this doesn't count but here's for trying)

Quite a short thread considering she was such a popular pick in lots of different pools on here for years. Anyway, she had a long and impactful career in politics, especially on the topic of Scottish independence. RIP Winnie

As Surinamese-Dutch resistance fighter Anton de Kom (1898-1945) received official apologies by the Dutch state this week for the way he was treated by the Dutch authorities in the 1930's, it came to my attention he still has two living children. They are Ad de Kom (96) and Judith de Kom (92). Both of them appeared in public for the occasion and were handed an official letter of apologies by the minister of foreign affairs. Ad seemed to be confined to his wheelchair, Judith could at least walk for a short distance with assistance of a walking stick and a caretaker. -

The Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin Rediscovered this one as it was played during a funeral service I attended this friday. The man that passed away lived in my village and had been enjoying his retirement since about five years. Knew him as a friendly, interested and witty person who was still full of plans and ideas, and while he'd had lingering health problems for some years, his death came as a surprise to everyone, including his wife, children and young grandchildren. -
In a wonderful schizophrenic turn of events, I put Kaczynski on my list for the Inverse as well as on my shadowlist (#43) for the year. Luckily I didn't totally bomb my chances as he's only at #21 here.
