All Trump needs to do is leave the EU and he's got that money in a week.

The election will be rigged in one way or another, so I don't think that will be an issue for him. However what is more of a blunder is the US are wrangling over the aid bill for Ukraine (and other countries with security concerns), and incidents like this are more likely to tip the balance in favour of the bill passing.

All things considered it's a surprise to me he lived as long as he did.

The FT have done a graph of MPs standing down from each party and it's clear that many Tories believe they have no chance, and/or don't like the concept of being in opposition, so they are far ahead of other parties. If the Tories did manage to pull off a win with this setup, then they will have an even more inexperienced bunch to choose from (bearing in mind they believe appointing Cameron to the Lords to be Foreign Secretary was better than choosing from the 350 odd existing MPs).

Trump also campaigned on a platform of looking out for left behind areas, but proceeded to do more of the same from before, especially through pursuing big tax cuts and foreign interventions including killing that Iran general, striking Syrian Government targets and support for Israel included moving the US embassy to Jerusalem. While Biden has kept up some of the controversial foreign policy stuff, actions like the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS and Science act arguably are doing more to help those left behind areas than anything Trump did.
