Was talking to my boss about voting intentions today. Our constituency is a straight fight between the incumbent Con and the LibDem leader of the local council. He's voting Con because the LibDem lady used to work in the sandwich shop where we work, and once fucked up his sandwich.

I always like to have a look at Vote For Policies to see which parties I actually align with (before tactically voting to get the Tories out, due to our antiquated electoral system.) As I expected, I came out mostly as a mix of Green, Lib Dem and Labour, with Green being the closest match to my views. I was interested to see the results of their amalgamation of everyone who's gone through their test so far : I wonder how many people would actually vote Green if they didn't feel it was a wasted vote.

Quite honestly I'd be amazed if that wasn't the end of their road. But I just hope, if it is, that they go out the way they've approached the tournament thus far - they've been an absolute breath of fresh air. It's interesting that while a large number of vocal English fans have been loudly proclaiming that we have no chance against any half-decent team, the bookies (who generally are pretty good at these things) still have England as favourites. Certainly that's going to be in part because we have an "easier" half of the draw, but how often do we see teams starting tournaments slowly, improving once we get to the knockout stage and ultimately winning it. Remember Argentina losing to Saudi Arabia at the last World Cup - whatever happened to them?
