Speaking personally, no, I just don't like it very much, it's a pretty boring down to mid tempo disco song. Some of his early to mid-70s songs, (e.g John I'm only Dancing, Drive on Saturday, Life on Mars, Rebel Rebel) I think are really good but I just don't care much for anything of his thereafter (see also Elton John, Rod Stewart). It's just that some people have different tastes to you - as they do to me. Book and TheOldLady have been consistently downvoting my favourites - currently the Jam - since we started with the early 1970s but they're perfectly entitled to their opinions, as I am to mine, we just have different tastes.

Rogers & Hammerstein will be happy to learn of your opinion ya tin-eared twat. The song itself is tolerable, especially if you like Rodgers and Hammerstein (which I don't particularly) But, whatever his other talents, Captain Sensible can't sing. It's an unfunny novelty record, harmless enough but undeserving of survival in this company.

Why? If we were doing the 60s would you have downvoted every Beatles no 1 after She Loves You if the latter had won 62-63? I think it's a shame The Winner Takes it All wasn't supported partly because other Abba songs had qualifed previously as (along with The Day Before you Came) it's one of their best.

Still prefer it to Ashes to Ashes though.
