General Election 2024?
The Old Crem replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Blyth Valley has gone now. Ian Levy the winning Tory is running in the new notionally Labour seat of Cramlington and Killingworth which I expect will count quickly and on current polls should be a Labour hold for their candidate Emma Foody. Blyth town itself is now in the seat of Blyth and Ashington where Ian Lavery who held the now abolished Wansbeck for Labour by under 1k votes is running against Maureen Levy (Ian’s wife). Should be a fairly comfortable Labour hold this time. You Gov MRP has for these seats Cramlington and Killingworth - Lab 54% - Tory 19% - Reform 14% Blyth and Ashington - Lab 64% - Reform 15% - Tory 14% Swindon North - Lab 43% - Tory 33% - Reform 12% Broxbourne - Tory 37% - Lab 36% - Reform 15% Rayleigh and Wickford - Tory 41% - Labour 28%- Reform 16% -

Also Voter ID is bound to knock 0.5-1% off with people without ID forgetting to apply for the free one in time and people arriving at the polling station haven forgotten to bring their ID and not then coming back when reminded they need to have it. -

If the Tories really collapse he could beat the 62 seats Kennedy got in 2005. -

I think there is also a growing feeling that everyone is as bad as each other which will lower turnout. In safe labour seats in particular it could be very low. -
Another 4-6 appeared at the Royal Albert Hall event shown on ITV yesterday but filmed on the 6th itself so they couldn’t have travelled to Normandy. Included two of the older surviving ones at 104 and 103.

Turnout is going to be a big factor in the result. -
But I would have thought Salmond himself had a bit of popularity to get a bit higher in the polls.

This election will be sandwiched in between the two rounds of the French legislative election. -
Snap election in France on a June 30th/July 7th Marine Le Pen might be prime Minster by Bastile Day on current polls. I have a feeling her dad might then die just after she becomes PM (or the power behind a proxy PM).

It’s actually quite surprising just how bad Alba are still doing in the polls. Even with the SNP struggling they not benefiting.

Labour had a fantastic result there in the local and PCC elections - helped by the backlash to the Tory run council going bankrupt but Labour are right to feel they can win it. -

It be whatever time Richmond and Northallerton declares. He won’t speak publicly before that - just as Starmer won’t speak publicly until Holborn and St Pancras declares. The main two party leaders never give interviews on election night. So it will be up to people like Dowden and Cleverly to give the main Tory interviews. -

I’d be amazed if the Tories lose Hutingdon but Basingstoke is less surprising as Labour got close in 1997 and very close in 2001 and there is a feeling Labour will do well in the Home Counties seats they targeting. -

That was a big win for Labour Through his seat would have voted for the Tory candiate going by the figures for the North Yorkshire Council area and the fact it contains two proper Labour key seats in holding Selby and winning Scarborough and Whitby -
They wanted to put something in the manifesto as the lords can’t block anything in the manifesto in practise. I suspect through the Lords like always will hesitate when debating it’s own reforms.

Very much so. Could be a shock reform gain.
