I feel exactly the same way, I saw her as worthy of a spot but just felt that my other wrestling entries were better. A miss for sure. That said, may she RIP.

    American Football Players

Longtime former NFL coach Greg Robinson, who was the defensive coordinator for the back-to-back Super Bowl-winning Denver Broncos teams in the 1990's and later became the head coach at Syracuse, has died at the age of 70.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2023

I wasn't aware of any Wikipedia vandalism, and it looks normal as of now. She doesn't seem like a controversial figure to me. As an owner, she's been hands-off, so she doesn't get any criticism from Chicago sports fans for the underperformance of the team for most of the past 30 years or so.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2023

Chicago Bears owner Virginia McCaskey (the daughter of George Halas) turned 99 years old today. She seems to be in good health, and as proof of that, she still attends games. Still, could be one to watch.

    Queen Elizabeth II

As an American, I genuinely laughed out loud when reading this. And you're certainly correct. But as George Carlin once pointed out, these cunts are the best that America has to offer, as scary as that is to think about. As he said, these politicians don't fall out of the sky, or pass through some membrane from a different reality; they come from American schools, churches, businesses, etc, and they are elected by American citizens. In other words, the public deserves a lot of the blame and sucks. As far as the monarchy is concerned, it would seem to me that Charles will likely receive a lot of sympathy from the British public when his mother passes, and I'm pretty sure that William is quite popular, right? Beyond that, who knows. Who knows what the sentiment will be as William gets older and we're into the next generation.

    Joss Ackland

I liked his small role as a Russian diplomat in The Hunt For Red October. He had some good scenes with Richard Jordan in that. Of course, Ackland has outlived Jordan by nearly 30 years now.

    11. Mel Brooks

I can't watch the clip since I'm not in the UK, but he doesn't look too bad to me physically. Old as shit, obviously, but doesn't look gaunt to me. I can't hear him so I can't offer an opinion on what his voice sounds like. He doesn't look close to as bad as, say, Bob Newhart.

    2. Dick Van Dyke

You are absolutely correct. I thought it was clear that Betty was slipping towards the end of 2020. Her voice was very raspy and she no longer left her house, I don't believe. Van Dyke is still very active. Look, at his age it can go downhill really quickly. But I just think there are far better picks that are likely to kick the bucket.

    Queen Elizabeth II

I had no intention of having her on my 2022 List before I saw that. I figured she was just too healthy and wasn't a good bet to die. But after seeing that, I think there's a much more realistic chance now. I still would say she makes it to '23 and I certainly hope that's the case. She's not a hit I want to get, frankly.

    37. Dick Cheney

I kept him on my list too. I agree that he looks good at the moment, but he still hits the 10-year mark of his transplant in March. Things can go downhill quickly. It's not like we're looking at 3-4 more years (in all likelihood), so I'm sure he'll just stay on the list until he croaks.

Has been on my list since last year. Approve of this pick!

For the sake of bookkeeping, I'm replacing Betty White on my 2022 List with Ted Kacynski, the Unabomber. Will be reflected on my sig by tomorrow. It's still only 1:45PM local time on the 31st, where I am. Happy New Year, folks. (The 2022 thread was locked, or I would've written this there.)

    Betty White

Never have I wanted a hit less. RIP to one of the beloved people on the planet, literally.

    Queen Elizabeth II

She still looks fine for a woman her age, sure, but I do think it's noteworthy that she is still noticeably thinner from even just a few months ago. And it's not like it's a "oh you look great because you dropped some weight" kind of thin. At least, not to my eye. I just hope she's not slipping.
  17. MrWonderful

    Queen Elizabeth II

Damn it, I'm going to put her on my list now after saying I wasn't going to just 5 minutes ago. She does look noticeably thinner, I have to agree. Damn. I've long admired the Queen. Long may she reign!

    Ideas and possibilities 2022

OK so of my 2021 List, 18 died, so that leaves 32 names. Of those, I think I'm going to drop Caan, Bacharach, Necro Butcher. and O'Neal, though I really do think O'Neal doesn't have a ton of time left. So 28 are still in. That means we need 22 more. I'll start with my 28 holdovers and go from there... Bob Newhart--frail enough that I'd be surprised if he makes it to '23 Ayatollah Khamenei--conflicting reports about how ill he might be, but I'm keeping him Yoko Ono--hanging on for now Jimmy Carter--extremely, extremely frail, and quite frankly I'm shocked he's still with us Rosalynn Carter--have to play the Carter daily double Jerry Lee Lewis--tick tock Harry Belafonte--old and frail enough to keep, although he's still doing video messages Betty White--she hits 100 next month; let's see if she can hit 101 Joanne Woodward--has been in the end stage of her dementia for a really long time Linda Ronstadt--playing the odds of her PSP diagnosis in 2013 Bob Cousy--is 93, not a lot of info here but I'll keep him on my list The Berzerker/Nord The Barbarian--the first of my ALS entries Tom Parker--would have to live 4 calendar years with glioblastoma if he sees '23, so I'll keep him Sidney Poitier--very old and frail Nichelle Nichols--seemingly in the end stages of dementia Barbara Walters--the end seems near Teri Garr--sticking with this one, as she's likely had MS since the early 80's Mikhail Gorbachev--surprised he's still alive, will keep him until he dies Superstar Billy Graham--none of the wrestlers should be a surprise, really Jake The Snake Roberts--COPD and other health problems Alberto Fujimori--survived the year but still very frail Samu--had stage 4 liver cancer and had a transplant Eva Marie Saint--Hollywood legend is 97 Bob Barker--longtime Price Is Right host just turned 98 Pope Benedict--could have another year or two in him but he's very frail and 94 Fay Vincent--former MLB commish said he was dying in '19, so damn it, be a man of your word and die! Tom Weiskopf--looks like he'll make it to '22 but the likelihood of '23 is not good Dick Cheney--going to keep him on my list until he croaks; '22 marks 10 years since the heart transplant With that, I have two returnees from my 2020 List, so this gets us to 30 names... David Crosby--got through another year, but he can't have a ton of time left, so back on he goes Olivia Newton-John--at some point, the treatments are unfortunately going to stop working, a la Valerie Harper with stage 4 cancer OK, so we need 20 more. I unveil these names for your reading pleasure... Pele--from everything we can gather, seems like a dire situation. a must-add. Jiang Zemin--honestly, I don't know anything about this guy other than he's old and he's a drol must-pick. OK, then. Tony Bennett--my favorite of the old crooners, it seems like he's deep in the throes of Alzheimer's now Charley Trippi--NFL Hall Of Famer just turned 100 Steve Gleason--has suffered from ALS for longer than normal and is extremely gaunt in pictures Jacques Delors--96-year-old missed a dinner in his honor due to poor health recently Robert Solow--going with him over Greenspan since Solow is 97 and Greenspan doesn't appear to be overly frail for his age Shannen Doherty--is relatively young, but the whole stage 4 cancer thing Kris Kristofferson--get the sense he's in grave health, we'll see Leslie Phillips--I mean, he's 97 Don West--when brain cancer returns, that's obviously no bueno James Lovelock--at 102, too good of an opportunity for a hit Philippe de Gaulle--is 100, so another great opportunity for a triple-digit hit George Alagiah--another whose cancer has metastasized Estelle Harris--former Seinfeld and Toy Story actress is now 93 Stanley Baxter--many of y'all seem to be shocked he's still alive at 95, so I'll go with it David Graham--the actor is 96 and appears quite frail June Brown--looks like a female crypt-keeper Henry Kissinger--turns 99 next year, and although mentally still there, is overweight and a bit frail Imelda Marcos--is wheelchair-bound and 92 There you go, there's my list for 2022, although I reserve the right to make changes in the next 24 hours or so as more info becomes available. I couldn't bring myself to add Queen Elizabeth II or Angela Lansbury because I simply don't think it's their time. EDIT: After seeing how the Queen looked in her Christmas message, I'm putting her on the list in place of Imelda Marcos. Begrudgingly, also. What can I say, I'm a fan of the old woman's steely resolve.

Damn, a recurrence of brain cancer is no bueno. Would seem to be a great pick for 2022 now.

Oh man, as a huge Dodger fan, this would be tough, but I can't say it's without logic. He just lost his wife in January of this year, too. Tommy Lasorda was a much easier call at this time last year though, as it was clear that he was hanging on by a thread and very frail. Scully is obviously very old but is still well enough to Tweet video messages and the like. He wouldn't be a bad pick but I don't think he is ready just yet. That said, a lot can change in 12 months when you're that age.

    Harry Reid

Yes, King was easily the biggest miss this year.
  22. MrWonderful

    Harry Reid

Had him on my list last year but not this year, was going to have him on my 2022 List. Big miss by me! Almost like trying to sneak a player through waivers and he got claimed at the last second!

    John Madden

Had him on my list, hit #18 for me. Last year during a Sunday Night football broadcast, the announcers mentioned him and it seemed like more than just a "we miss you and hope you're doing great in retirement" thing. I got the sense that he was in a bad way. Had nothing more to go on than that. Put him on my list because of that sense. Anyway, yes, he was a legendary football figure in America. He was one of the great coaches of the 70's, was the most well-known broadcaster in the game after his coaching career, and the video game that bears his name is of course a huge deal. A massive legacy left behind. RIP, coach.

Yeah, I thought she was a good pick last year (or was it the previous year?) when she had recently had a transplant and her son had died, but she got past that and she does look good for now, I think. I won't be adding her to my 2022 List.
