I met Mr. Lasorda in 1998 on a flight, when he was the interim GM of the Dodgers. He was very nice and signed a piece of paper for me and we chatted (very briefly) about the Dodgers. May he rest in peace.

    Tom Parker

Could see 2022. Will not see 2023. Just like Doleman. Could see one further calendar year than possibly anticipated. Not two.

    I concur.

Legendary former Dodgers announcer Vin Scully's wife of 47 years, Sandi, has passed away from ALS at the age of 76. Scully has endured a lot of tragedy in his life, as his first wife, Joan, died of a drug overdose in 1972. He then wed Sandi a year later. To see your wife of 47 years go before you do, particularly when she's 17 years younger than you are, I'm sure it has to be devastating. His eldest son, Michael, died in 1994 in a helicopter crash at just 33 years of age. As Scully is 93, you have to wonder if this could lead to a quick deterioration. I certainly hope not. I suppose this could have gone into the ALS thread, too.

    44. Ted Turner

Interesting. I thought it was a little too early to think he could go in '21, as he was diagnosed in Sept. 2018 and the usual life expectancy is 5-7 years. But perhaps he already was suffering from it for a bit and it went undiagnosed at first. Must be the case if he's already in the late stages, as the article suggests.

Oh no doubt. I think of him as the South African villain in the second Lethal Weapon film and as the Russian ambassador in The Hunt For Red October.

Little actually died on January 1, Westphal on January 2.

    Larry King

It would be in America, for sure. Yeah, he was already on borrowed time for his heart issues, but this will make it an even earlier death, assuming he does succumb to it.

When TMZ reported that his estranged wife was told by his doctors that he was "dying", I believed it. TMZ doesn't get crap like that wrong. He was probably fortunate to see 2021 as it is, and now you add this? Maybe he still has a miracle in him yet, but this doesn't look good.

Shocked he wasn't on the list.

Two hits for me already, and it's January 2!

    Going with 18.

    Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

I like it. Getting Daniel Arap Moi vibes with this one, like he could be dead before the end of winter.

    The 1st Death of 2021?

    The Ayatollah.
  15. Normally I would be all-in on the likelihood of death regression in 2021, but the more I look at it, I'm not so sure. There are so many quality picks who seem like solid bets, at least to me. We shall see. Perhaps we don't get 20, but I don't think it will be as low as 10, let's say. I'd set the Over/Under at 17.5.

Besides being very old, have you seen/heard anything specific regarding Severinsen's health? Norman Lear is even older, although he still seems mentally there at 98.

Made a few alterations, with one a necessity following the death of Pierre Cardin. Decided to drop Shannen Doherty, Ric Flair, Sandra Day O'Connor, Pele, and David Crosby as well. Barring any last-minute deaths or changes of heart by me, here's my Top 50 for 2021, as I come off a 20-hit 2020: Rush Limbaugh Floyd Little Bob Dole Larry King Bob Newhart Ayatollah Khamenei Carlos Menem Tommy Lasorda Yoko Ono Jimmy Carter Rosalynn Carter Murray Walker Prince Philip Jerry Lee Lewis Paul Westphal Harry Belafonte Betty White James Caan Bernie Madoff Burt Bacharach Joanne Woodward Linda Ronstadt John Madden Bob Cousy The Berzerker/Nord The Barbarian Tom Parker Sidney Poitier Desmond Tutu Beverly Cleary Nichelle Nichols Barbara Walters Ryan O'Neal Teri Garr Hal Holbrook Cloris Leachman George Shultz Mikhail Gorbachev Leon Spinks Superstar Billy Graham Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff Jake The Snake Roberts Alberto Fujimori Samu Necro Butcher Eva Marie Saint Bob Barker Pope Benedict Fay Vincent Tom Weiskopf Dick Cheney Just missed my list: Doherty, Flair, O'Connor, Pele, Crosby, Julian Assange, George Mitchell, Harry Reid, Lex Luger, Olivia Newton-John, Abdullah The Butcher

Hit #20 on my personal list, and hit #20 for the official Death List!

Yeah, the PED's/NFL/wrestling triple play. Was definitely a hell of a player, as SC said.

Should have included Beverly Cleary for my list. She'll be on it, assuming she makes it to 2021. I mean, how much longer can she have? I had a great aunt who lived to be one week shy of her 105th birthday, and Cleary will beat that for sure if she makes it to April 12th.

    Carlos Menem

    Perhaps not, but he's circling.

^ Regarding David Crosby, he's had multiple heart attacks, a liver transplant, and he has diabetes. He abused drugs. In 2019 he said he thought he'd have a heart attack within a couple of years, and this year he said he only has a few years left. Now, perhaps he does, but he's no healthy 79-year-old. He's also selling his music catalog, for whatever that's worth. He says it's because he can't work and he has bills to pay. Bob Dylan recently did the same.

Ugh, he sure is. Was looking at the wrong list; had updated one but not the other. Thanks. So now I need to put another name in. I'll go with Weiskopf, for now. If his pancreatic cancer is late-stage, he would be a strong pick. Of course, that's what I thought Harry Reid had 2 years ago, and he's still with us. Wonder if I should give Reid more consideration, actually.
