    Shirley Bassey

Holy shit, I got scared for a second when I saw activity on a Shirley Bassey thread. Had no idea who she was until I watched the 2013 Oscars. At first I was like, wow, this lady has amazing presence and a great voice, especially for someone older. Then I saw exactly how old she was at the time, and to still be able to sing like that? Mariah Carey's voice basically left her at 35, and this woman is still belting it out in her 70's? I was blown away. Since then I've certainly familiarized myself with who she is. What a legendary performer. Don't you fucking dare fuck with Shirley Bassey, 2020!

I agree with you. If they hypocritically try to replace RBG like that after what they did to Merrick Garland, a Democratically-controlled Senate would have no choice but to pack the Court, and McConnell knows it. He's ruthless but he's not stupid. They are better off just keeping their current majority and letting the Democrats replace RBG with another liberal justice.

Damn, I have to agree. It's going to suck when it's his time. One of my absolute favorite actors.

I think it's worth pointing out that Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama will be in attendance at John Lewis' funeral later today in Atlanta, with Obama giving the eulogy. You know who won't be there? President Carter, who only lives about 2 and a half hours away from Atlanta. Not a good sign, if you ask me.

I am in genuine disbelief. He looks nowhere near ready to go!

I still think he can make it 5+ more months to see 2021, but things can deteriorate rather quickly. I hope he can return to host Jeopardy for one more run of tapings before he falls too ill.

I disagree. If the Republicans so blatantly and hypocritically pushed a Justice through like that, you have to respond in kind. You just have to, assuming you control the chamber. I also question whether or not Schumer would be the majority leader. Plenty of Democrats aren't exactly thrilled with his leadership. Regardless, I think it would happen, I really do. I could be wrong but that's my feeling.

If RBG dies before Election Day (or even after that but before the inauguration), in the event of a Biden win, and if the GOP pushes through a conservative Justice to SCOTUS--in light of how they blocked Garland--the Democrats would have no choice but to pack the Court if they control the Senate. I think McConnell would probably be better served to just keep the 5-4 conservative majority as it is. Yes, I want Biden to win, but I'm trying to objectively think about what makes the most sense. McConnell is a lot of things, but he's not a stupid person.
  14. I noticed something interesting on Bovada. While Biden is -150 to win the election with Trump at +135 (they have others listed like Hillary Clinton and Pence), they have a separate prop where the Democratic Party is at -180 and the Republican Party is at +135. I guess they are building into the party odds the possibility that one or both of them may not make it to Election Day. Biden's poll numbers still look pretty strong, with sizable leads in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Florida. Arizona is neck-and-neck, and even Georgia and Texas look like swing states. If you believe the polling, anyway.

Surprised to see this posted here in this thread. She was an actress in her own right, after all. Anyway, this is very sad. I was definitely a fan of her work. RIP.

I'll say it again: he looks alright, all things considered. I wouldn't doubt that things could deteriorate quickly given his affliction, but for now, he continues to defy the odds.

Feldman actually accused Charlie Sheen of sexually abusing the then-13-year-old Haim on the set of the film Lucas, which was released in 1986 (the year before The Lost Boys).

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2021

This is my first time learning of his health troubles, so this is a good bit of info, thanks. Maybe he's not at death's door right now, but he's had several recent health issues other than the breathing issues that the article talks about. I came across this on his Wikipedia page: In July 2018 Benny underwent DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) which minimized the tremors, but unfortunately complications from the extensive surgeries created numerous other balance, stability, confusion, and pain issues. After surgery, Benny suffered multiple falls including one that dislocated his hip and shattered his pelvic bone. Continued dislocations and several surgeries later, Benny spent a long time fighting various infections. His hip replacement surgery was completed in January 2019. Since then, he dislocated his hip again and recently had another surgery to fix that. So, to recap, this is a 73-year-old man who has had Parkinson's for 20 years, very recently had pneumonia and still has breathing difficulties because of that, has suffered multiple falls, and has had multiple hip dislocations and two surgeries for that. Oh, and he was a cocaine addict for years and also suffered from alcoholism. Might not be a bad choice on 2021 teams.
  23. Biden moved from -140 to -170 over the course of 3 days this week. Trump is imploding. I guess the only "good" part of the terrible poll numbers for him is that there are still over 130 days to go.

    David Crosby

I believe Crosby said last year that he thought he only had a couple of years left to live. He's had a bevy of health issues (he abused drugs and alcohol for years) including hepatitis C, a liver transplant in 1994, and he also has type 2 diabetes. I don't think he should be removed from the Deathlist if he makes it to 2021.

A bit more info on Floyd Little. His wife says he's responding well to treatments for stage 2 NET cancer. He's going to undergo chemo every day for two weeks, wait two weeks, and then do the chemo again every day for two weeks. From what I could gather, chemo on this type of cancer is not generally very effective, unless it's anaplastic metastatic disease, or SSRS-negative tumors. He could very well be one to watch for 2021, despite this seemingly-positive update.
