It wasn't a good weekend for Trump. There was the much-hyped rally which turned out to be poorly-attended, the awful speech where he spent 15 minutes talking about the water and ramp "incidents" from his West Point visit a few days prior (not to mention calling the coronavirus the "kung flu"), and the Bolton interview on Sunday night. And now on Monday morning, Biden has taken his biggest lead of the campaign in betting markets, at -140. -
A wonderfully talented actor. RIP.

Back To School is easily my favorite Dangerfield film. RIP.

A big hit for the DL, as this makes 3 of the top 5 and 4 of the top 7 who have died this year. And we're only in June. It's another hit on my Top 50 too, although picking someone 103 years old isn't exactly a brilliant pick.

U.S. House Rep. Ilhan Omar's father has died from complications of COVID-19 . Apparently their relationship had been frayed since her divorce from her first husband.

He doesn't appear to be well. There's a lot of speculation going on that perhaps the reason that he was rushed to Walter Reed hospital last November is because he had a stroke or a mini-stroke.

The Economist is pretty bullish about Biden's chances. Of particular interest is that they consider Florida as "likely" for Biden right now, as opposed to "uncertain." If Trump doesn't win Florida, realistically he has no path to winning the election. That's a must-state for him. -

I don't know about that. Is Trump really capable of doing anything other than playing to his base? Biden is up by 14 points in both CNN and Fox News' latest polls. Now, granted, the lead will come down from that, and I'm sure he could get a little bump from the rallies, but for an incumbent, Trump is in a horrific position right now. Doesn't mean the race is over, mind you. But he has a lot of work to do. At least 175-200K Americans are going to be dead of COVID-19 by Election Day, most of them older people, and it's hurt him a bunch among voters 65 and older, particularly in Florida. And since Biden isn't a woman like Hillary was, more white Independents will be able to stomach voting for a Democrat who is a white guy. Again, it's not over, a lot can still happen, but Trump has a lot of work to do at this point. He's lucky it's not just a straight popular vote here because he would have absolutely zero chance of winning that. -

Bro, he's not going to win 16%. I didn't say it wasn't possible to maybe get more than 8%, but 16%? Look, if it happens, congrats for getting a far-out prediction right. But I don't see it. -

I'm not the betting type, my friend. Not as an internet fake tough guy, anyway. But seriously, there's no chance that any Republican candidate in 2020 garners 16% of the black vote, let alone DONALD TRUMP. -

Biden now to -130 as the favorite. Also, just for some context, Trump won 8% of the black vote in the 2016 election. And his press secretary touted that as an accomplishment earlier today. She also lied about Romney getting 2% of the black vote in 2012; he got 6%, or 2% less than Trump did. -

Uh, yeah, and Trump is not winning the black community. Perhaps Kenny meant he may do better than typical Republican candidates, I don't know, but yeah, black people are the most reliable voting bloc for Democrats. -
I found a social media post from Jerome Young (via Reddit) that is apparently at least 4 months old where Young states that Necro Butcher is ill and won't get any better, and asks for prayers. He obviously looks very rough, and only 46. Damn. ,

Biden became the betting favorite on Thursday, the first time that Trump has not been the favorite since the start of the Democratic debates last year. -
Looks like a scene from The Omen or something.

Beat me to it. Seems like there have been a lot of Hall of Fame deaths lately in basketball and football. -

There's no evidence of systemic racism towards blacks by the police over previous decades, didn't you know that? LOL. In all seriousness, I don't know where Drol is from, and he's clearly exhibited a level of intelligence on other matters, but he's extremely ignorant about this particular issue. We are in an age of social media where it's so easy to have everything filmed at any time, and yet we've seen an explosion of incidents in recent years, with many of them caught on tape or on film. (We're also now in an age where police officers are supposed to have body cameras, although those seem to conveniently get turned off when some bad shit goes down, like with the murder of a Louisville man the other day, which got the police chief fired, but I digress.) The Floyd murder happened in plain view of everyone, with people recording it, the officer knew it, and not only does he continue doing what he was doing, but he literally mocks the people doing the recording. Seriously, just imagine what it was like pre-social media. How exceptionally easy it was for the police to get away with doing whatever they pleased, basically. Carte blanche.

I wasn't the only one that called you out. I suppose it's possible you're just an ignorant, highly-prejudiced twat, rather than a racist twat, but I nonetheless have nothing further to say to you. Your posts speak for themselves.
-
Thank you for identifying yourself as a rabid racist, you fucking twat.

Look, if you think that white people being killed by the police is comparable to what's systematically happened to black people in America at the hands of the police, I don't know what we're doing here. Of course there are going to be instances of white people being screwed over as well. It's not literally a 100% thing that only happens to black people. But you're engaging in some intellectual dishonesty right now.

I think we need to make a distinction between the people who are just protesting and those who are looting, though I realize that some may be doing both. And there is no justification for the looting, of course. I understand it, actually, but I obviously don't condone it.

Yes, it's disturbing and appalling to watch, and as bad as things are with the unrest going on right now, if this officer actually doesn't do serious jail time, or especially if he gets acquitted of all charges, it's going to be absolute chaos here across the country. We're talking mass unrest. Will make 1968 look like nothing. We're at a real tipping point here. All 4 officers deserve to go to jail for a long time, but at the very least, if Chauvin doesn't go down for this, we're looking at serious chaos here. There's no doubt in my mind. And I should note that what we saw on live television yesterday was coordinated police brutality, right before Trump spoke and in order for him to have a disgusting photo op. Just after 6PM local time yesterday, word broke that Trump was going to make a statement outside the Rose Garden, and a podium was set up. The local curfew in Washington DC was 7PM. There was absolutely no unrest or violence going on with the protestors; they were just standing in place. All of a sudden, police started up with the police brutality on the protestors, firing off tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowd. Again, this was well before the 7PM curfew. With the demonstrators dispersed, Trump made his statement which lasted about 7 minutes or so, and then he made the short walk to a church for his photo op. He managed to hold a Bible upside down and look about as awkward as you'd expect a man to look who is as unauthentically religious as Trump is.
