CNN is reporting that the 20-year-old man, a registered Republican, had also donated money to a Democratic-aligned organization. That's an interesting plot twist, potentially. I suspect we'll learn more about that in the coming hours. You have to wonder what the motivation was.

I agree with you and with Paul Bearer. Have thought this for a little while now. Yeah, he's obviously been obsessed with his image and he's changed his appearance drastically with the hair transplant and obvious plastic surgery on his face and the like. But I do think that he looks gaunt, rather than just losing weight to get in better shape, let's say. I hope nothing is amiss, as he's one of my favorite comics, but the thought absolutely crossed my mind that he could be dealing with some type of illness.

You mean to tell me that cops and prosecutors engaged in withholding evidence about the ammo? I am just shocked!

To make a long story short, if Biden drops out before the convention, then the delegates can vote for anyone else of their choosing. So the delegates decide it. However, if they wait until after the convention, DNC rules are that the DNC gets to decide who to put forth as the nominee, NOT the delegates. But that might bring up a whole slew of problems, such as the passage of more time and then perhaps you have issues with getting names on the ballot in certain states and a shorter campaign for the new candidate, etc. Bottom line, for me, is that if Biden is going to drop out, it would be best to do it ASAP so that the new candidate has a longer runway to campaign.

An Ipsos poll from today has Trump and Biden dead even. A hypothetical Trump vs. Harris matchup has Trump up by 1 point. Of course, if the popular vote were actually that close, it almost certainly means that Trump wins in the Electoral College. But I found one other piece of info very interesting: a hypothetical Trump vs. Michelle Obama matchup had Obama up...BY ELEVEN POINTS! She probably doesn't want to do it, but holy hell, when you see numbers like that, if I'm in the deep inner circle of Democratic power-brokers, I'm doing everything in my power to convince her to run with Harris (with Obama on top of the ticket). It is not hyperbole to say that the constitutional republic could be on the line.

Might as well get my list of 5 replacements in now, but I'll try to come back on the last day just to make sure one of my names here didn't kick the bucket. Replace James Whale with Sven-Goran Eriksson Replace Andy Taylor with Linda Tirado (U.S. journalist) Replace Julian Assange with Johnnie Walker (British radio DJ) Replace Bruce Willis with Georg Koch Replace Dolph Lundgren with Shelley Duvall

I didn't think Trump could win, and you can check my post history on that as to why. (I'm a moderate Democrat, for the record.) Well, after last night, we may have seen irreparable damage. It matters not that Trump was doing his usual lying-his-ass-off routine. It matters not that even some of my liberal friends are trying to make the argument that nothing changes as far as substantive discussion and policy. Um, they don't have to convince people like me to vote for Biden. They have to convince undecided morons in swing states, and this is about optics and perception. And they have made this intellectually dishonest argument that "oh, well incumbent presidents like Obama and GW Bush had off nights in their first debate, and they still won." Uh, those presidents didn't have this question dogging them: is he too old to do the job? This has been THE #1 issue for undecided voters as it relates to concerns about Biden, much more so than policy. Numero uno. So to look and sound like he did last night? I don't know how you come back from that, and I'm not one of those people just reacting to media-driven angst, either. It was a disaster, purely and simply, for the Democrats. And the "he had a bad cold" excuse insults my intelligence because he looked just fine less than 20 hours later. Seems like in a controlled environment where he can do his speech from the teleprompter, he looks much more "normal" (similar to the SOTU), but when he was asked questions and had to think about answers, well, we saw what we saw. I mean, I understand why they have to try anything to spin it to the general public, but I've had some liberals I know try to spin it to me in this exact same way, and I don't much care for that. Trump is so awful and has so much baggage that maybe, just maybe there's still enough to change the race, but Trump has now become the considerable favorite imo. Fuck me.

From around the same time, I thought his role as the shadowy, mysterious "X" character in JFK was one of the best parts of that film.

Well hell, I guess I have to rescind my strike-through. The mf'er lives!
-
I've already marked it on my list. No take-backsies!

Totally missed this before. Not in chronological order, but my 12th hit so far. And now I see from Lafaucheuse's list that Genevieve de Galard died too. Make that 13. Holy shit, I guess I need to keep up!

I'll have to post in this thread next year! I know I posted my list somewhere else on the forums, and I have it in my sig as well. I think I'm up to 11 this year now on my "top 50."

Joker points!

From MLB's Twitter account, a look at Art Schallock, who is apparently the oldest living former player at the age of 100.

These are Class E felonies in the state of New York, which lead to prison sentences only 30% of the time if the person is a first-time offender and a non-violent offender. Given who he is, it would be downright shocking if the judge actually sentenced him to jail time here, even though he was admonished 10 times for contempt during these proceedings by this judge. As far as the political ramifications, in and of itself I don't think this verdict is a huge needle-mover , but it could be a start. If he gets convicted on other cases before the election as well, I mean, at some point, you could understand if swing voters in the states that will decide the election just think this is way too much baggage. You know, on top of all the other shit lol. Sentencing is on July 11, just a few days before the Republican National Convention.

She's been on my Top 50 list for at least a couple of years now. She's had MS for something like 40+ years, I think, without going back to look up the exact details. I think I remember that she first began feeling different on the set of Tootsie or something. I mean, that was a long-ass time ago.

Sad news, he was a fixture on local morning TV here in the L.A. market on KTLA as an entertainment reporter. Didn't realize he was also featured on morning TV in the UK as well.

Will he obit?

I missed this last week during the Masters coverage but came across it tonight. In this tribute video for Verne Lundquist, who worked his 40th and final Masters, notice at the 2:15 mark how Nicklaus' left hand/wrist is purple with what looks like senile purpura. We've seen this with a lot of older folks like Mitch McConnell recently. Perhaps he has some cardiovascular issues? Speaking of which, you see a purple spot on Lundquist's right hand at the 3:33 mark. Mr. Lundqvist is quite obese, so he may not be likely to see 90. I'm guessing that neither of them do, and I'm particularly concerned for Jack. (Jack is 84 and Verne is 83, for the record.)

OK, perhaps not as gaunt!
-
Player looks absolutely fantastic. He's so into fitness that it's not much of a surprise. He looks and moves considerably better than Nicklaus. It looks to me like Jack has noticeably slipped in the last year or two. He's more overweight and he walks and moves a little less steadily. RoverAndOut is right, he walks to the tee partially on the arm of his wife, Barbara. I don't like the vibes I'm getting with him.
-
Nah, Clint doesn't look gaunt like this.
-
I guess I was fucking wrong, wasn't I? On the bright side, his ex-wife's killer is now dead.
-
Another outing in public, wearing the same clothes as last time. Still looks rough, but he's able to move around unaided. I suppose that's something when you're 94. Will still be going on my list next year if he makes it.
-
First time I've thought this: he has to go on my list next year if he makes it. He's looking VERY gaunt now. In those pics of him coming out of the convenience store, look at his right arm below the elbow. It's like skeletal. And the discoloration not only on his hands/wrists/arms but his face too. I suppose it's good that he can still stand on his own, albeit with the cane and his wife's assistance coming down those steps at the restaurant, but he does not look like a healthy person here, not even at his age. But I know, he's 94. He's alive and that's better than the alternative, I suppose, as long as he's not suffering.
