There's no evidence of systemic racism towards blacks by the police over previous decades, didn't you know that? LOL. In all seriousness, I don't know where Drol is from, and he's clearly exhibited a level of intelligence on other matters, but he's extremely ignorant about this particular issue. We are in an age of social media where it's so easy to have everything filmed at any time, and yet we've seen an explosion of incidents in recent years, with many of them caught on tape or on film. (We're also now in an age where police officers are supposed to have body cameras, although those seem to conveniently get turned off when some bad shit goes down, like with the murder of a Louisville man the other day, which got the police chief fired, but I digress.) The Floyd murder happened in plain view of everyone, with people recording it, the officer knew it, and not only does he continue doing what he was doing, but he literally mocks the people doing the recording. Seriously, just imagine what it was like pre-social media. How exceptionally easy it was for the police to get away with doing whatever they pleased, basically. Carte blanche.

I wasn't the only one that called you out. I suppose it's possible you're just an ignorant, highly-prejudiced twat, rather than a racist twat, but I nonetheless have nothing further to say to you. Your posts speak for themselves.

Thank you for identifying yourself as a rabid racist, you fucking twat.

Look, if you think that white people being killed by the police is comparable to what's systematically happened to black people in America at the hands of the police, I don't know what we're doing here. Of course there are going to be instances of white people being screwed over as well. It's not literally a 100% thing that only happens to black people. But you're engaging in some intellectual dishonesty right now.

I think we need to make a distinction between the people who are just protesting and those who are looting, though I realize that some may be doing both. And there is no justification for the looting, of course. I understand it, actually, but I obviously don't condone it.

Yes, it's disturbing and appalling to watch, and as bad as things are with the unrest going on right now, if this officer actually doesn't do serious jail time, or especially if he gets acquitted of all charges, it's going to be absolute chaos here across the country. We're talking mass unrest. Will make 1968 look like nothing. We're at a real tipping point here. All 4 officers deserve to go to jail for a long time, but at the very least, if Chauvin doesn't go down for this, we're looking at serious chaos here. There's no doubt in my mind. And I should note that what we saw on live television yesterday was coordinated police brutality, right before Trump spoke and in order for him to have a disgusting photo op. Just after 6PM local time yesterday, word broke that Trump was going to make a statement outside the Rose Garden, and a podium was set up. The local curfew in Washington DC was 7PM. There was absolutely no unrest or violence going on with the protestors; they were just standing in place. All of a sudden, police started up with the police brutality on the protestors, firing off tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowd. Again, this was well before the 7PM curfew. With the demonstrators dispersed, Trump made his statement which lasted about 7 minutes or so, and then he made the short walk to a church for his photo op. He managed to hold a Bible upside down and look about as awkward as you'd expect a man to look who is as unauthentically religious as Trump is.

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2021

While I don't agree with everything you're saying as it relates to the Democrats, of course I agree that all of the problems didn't start with Trump. In my view, my country jumped the proverbial shark a long time ago, and it's now becoming clear to most of the world. However, there is no question in my mind that Trump has essentially put more logs on the fire. He's exacerbated and accelerated everything.

As an American, I remember growing up and seeing "lesser" authoritarian countries commit atrocities, and I couldn't believe it and looked down on it. We are now one of those "lesser" authoritarian countries. There's no other way to slice it.
  11. I think he was going to pick Harris anyway, but, yes, Klobuchar's chances are pretty much done now. The obvious ace pick would be Michelle Obama, but with no indication that she would do it (unless this is the Democrats' surprise), Harris seems like the logical choice. Indeed, she is the clear favorite in betting markets.

We just don't know what kind of cancer it is. I saw it on another article described as a "treatable but aggressive form of cancer." Definitely needs to be put on watch lists.

I agree that it would be a mistake to drop her, at this point, as unfortunate as that is. I thought she was finally showing some slippage late last year, and I agree with Miracle Aligner that the story that was just put out there was by her publicist and essentially tells us nothing. I believe she's still somewhat active and isn't in a similar state as Barbara Walters, let's say, but at her advanced age and with the slippage I noted, I don't think she has a lot of time left. And I hate writing that. I love this woman!

I actually don't think he looks gaunt. I was expecting much worse. James Caan in that photo of him in the wheelchair, now that's gaunt.

Yeah, I believe the usual life expectancy with Lewy body is 5-7 years, but he also has Parkinson's. And when you look at those July 2019 reports that he was "dying", and when you combine that with Malone's public pleas yesterday, it paints a pretty grim picture. Maybe he sees 2021 (I'm guessing not, though), and if he does, he should be a popular joker candidate for teams next year.

After the Michael Jordan "The Last Dance" docuseries ended last night, and with both episodes last night featuring the Bulls' wins in the Finals over the Utah Jazz in 1997 and 1998, Karl Malone is asking for prayers for Sloan.

Former player and executive Bob Watson has died at the age of 74. He was twice an All-Star as a player, and compiled a solid career batting line of .295-.364-.447, good enough for a 129 OPS+. He was the first African-American GM to oversee a team winning a World Series in 1996 with the Yankees.

My ninth Top 50 hit this year. The fan mail nugget of info really got him onto the radar for me, more than he otherwise would have been.
