    Little Richard

Gotta get a younger actor, at least to play him in his younger years when he first became a superstar. Maybe someone like Trevor Jackson. Dude has gotta be pretty lol.

    Little Richard

I have to agree with you.

    Little Richard

My ninth Top 50 hit this year. The fan mail nugget of info really got him onto the radar for me, more than he otherwise would have been.

    Political Frailty

Absolutely. You never know. Of course, it's still wise to play the odds game, in general. If you're looking for deathlist-y picks, someone suffering from glioblastoma for longer than 12 months is going to be a strong pick for any upcoming year, and if it's been more than 18 months the odds go up even more.

    Political Frailty

Yeah, as someone who had Chris Doleman in his #1 spot on his Top 50 list, this was just an oversight by me. It's now been two years since her glioblastoma surgery. Would be a big statistical outlier if she sees 2021.

    Hospitalized.

Just two losing seasons in 33 years as a head coach. Legend. Also becomes my eighth hit so far. RIP.

    Harrison Ford

He's had 4 plane mishaps since 1999, including 3 since 2015. Somebody take this dude's license!

Do you think she's more likely to die before the others I listed, just curious? I think I'd have Samu at the top of that 4-person list but I don't really know where to place Matilda.

    Wrestlers/actors

Yep, Matilda The Hun is 71 and lives within a 20-minute drive from me in Seal Beach, California. (Not that I know her personally or anything.) According to Wikipedia, she has wrestling-related spinal deterioration. I didn't have her on my list for this year, but perhaps I should have; do you think she's as strong of a pick as people like Mr. Wonderful or Kamala or Samu?

    The Dead of 2020

I think about that whenever I see Chrissy Metz. She obviously struggles with her weight, and though she's lost weight at times, I thought she looked huge at the Oscars this year.

    Yeah, he looks good.

I had him last year in my pool too, as I thought he had a good chance to go in '19. I remember seeing something on this site back in 2018 that led me to do so. Picked him again in my Wrestling category earlier this year (we do our draft in early January) when I had the chance. This site has been instrumental in how I try to make educated guesses on certain people, so in that sense I have too many people to thank. I have huge blind spots in many areas, especially as an American, but I did put Honor Blackman on my Top 50 for this year. I didn't feel comfortable entering into any pools on this site, but perhaps I'll change that in the future. I'm sure most of my picks will continue to be USA-centric, but you have to get a Daniel arap Moi in there when the points are just staring you in the face! I guess some of that goes both ways, though. For example, those of you in the UK should have all had Chris Doleman on your lists this year. That was free money.
  15. I think there are some good indicators for Biden, but I am never dismissing Trump's chances again, and there are still a lot of factors that could be in play, such as voter turnout if stay-at-home orders are still in place, to name one. Still, I think Biden will unquestionably do better with non-college educated white men than Hillary did.

Just texted my buddies "THIS DEATH IS SCHEDULED FOR ONE FALL!" And I heard it in his booming voice, of course.

Yeah, he was great at what he did. This becomes another hit for me, not just in my Top 50 but in the biggest pool I have among my buddies. So he died doing a good deed.

    Baseball

I remembered him as being a good-hitting second baseman. And he did win a Silver Slugger once. His .283 average is solid. But his OBP was horrific at .309 and he only had 36 HR in his entire career. He hardly struck out though, never more than 55 times in a season, and he once stole 54 bases (203 total). If a second baseman was putting up sub-.700 OPS's now, though, they'd be at risk of losing their starting job. It was just a different era then, of course. Contact hitters were valued by managers, particularly middle-infielders who could "handle the bat."

Hmm, I had written that he was a very good player, and that was my recollection (he did make a couple of All-Star teams, as was noted), but his career stats paint a different picture. Regardless, RIP.

https://www.cancer.org/cancer/stomach-cancer/treating/by-stage.html I'm obviously not a doctor, but given the info in your previous link with the article about his initial diagnosis, and combined with this info in my link, it's an educated guess that his cancer was stage 2 or 3. I don't think it was stage 1 because of the "fight of your life" phrasing by his doctor and the fact that he has apparently had both surgery and chemo. If it's stage 2, the 5-year survival rate is 35%. If it's stage 3, the 5-year survival rate is 25%. Unless he had stage 4 (5% 5-year survival rate), he's probably good for this year and even likely to survive 2021. If there are people here who want to offer up a more expert opinion, I'm all ears.

    Golf: The 19th Hole

Ha, Kim's missed putt is the worst missed putt under the circumstances I have ever seen, but van de Velde's choke is the biggest collapse I have ever seen. It was just so unnecessary. All he had to do was hit a couple of mid-irons, hit a short iron onto the green, and two-putt for a simple bogey. And he still would've had a shot to spare.

    Golf: The 19th Hole

I'm still giving that "honor" to Scott Hoch, whose missed putt to win the 1989 Masters was from just two feet away...Hoch rhymes with choke! Now that I think about it, if you really want to see a choke, it doesn't get much worse than the 2012 Kraft Nabisco Championship, where I.K. Kim missed a 14-inch putt to win.
