Not saying this is the case, but many spouses that were married long periods of time have been shown to die within a short time frame of each other. Some famous examples are Johnny Cash (Sept. 2003) and his wife June (May 2003) or George H. W. Bush (Nov. 2018) and his wife Barbara (April 2018). I think the Queen seems extremely healthy for her age, but there could be many things behind the scenes we do not know about. One could be her heartbreak over the death of her husband Phillip and the desire to rejoin him.

thing is, this usually happens way more often to Men who's wives died, not so much the other way around

I've been going through the UN General Assembly speeches, some things that I noticed:

Lebanon's Michel Aoun, Equatorial Guinea's Teodoro Obiang Mbasogo, Djibouti's Ismail Omar Guelleh, Zimbabwe's Mnangagwa and Palestine's Mahmoud Abbas are in a better shape than I expected. Mbasogo and Abbas have both been "at death's door" years ago, Mnangagwa sounded bad at Kaunda's funeral and Guelleh is a fat septuagenarian who recently went on a mystery trip to France.

Nigeria's Buhari sounds frailish. Kiribati's President Maamau looks and sounds fifteen years above his age. Uganda's Museveni seems to read everything from a paper including the "Thank you for your attention". Tanzania's new president Samia Suluhu Hassan sounds okay but breathes in loudly every other or every third second.

    All speeches here: https://www.youtube.com/c/unitednations/videos

not sure if it was just his mic, but Hun Sen of Cambodia also didnt sound very healthy

At this rate, QEII will outlive every other Cold War (1947–1991) leader of the Western and Eastern blocs. Fascinated to know how many are still around. Perhaps a list for another day. Would require a lot of work though.

Well Germany still has a lot, 4 in total, 2 of whom were communists of East germany: Youngest is a woman in their mid 70s

I wondered whether it's necessary to recycle exactly 25 people? Just noticed that this year the committee did go for the maximum number and can't be bothered to look up the previous year. I wouldn't mind them going more than 25 newcomers sometimes, especially after a year like last one.

the rule is 25 at most so that this list doesnt get boring with the same people being on the list forever

here is what I found so far about him

    - two separate certificate of birth : he was declared in the city hall of the 16th district of Paris on the 27th of November 1902 but was born on the 24th.

    - several death certificate which seem to be reliable as they were delivered by the competent authorities he seemed to have died in Bobigny (93) near Paris on the 7th of April 2021, as shown on the death certificate delivered by Bobigny's city here

in addition it seems like every other Paul Roger Henry's certificate of death that I found on internet are the ones of other namesake because none of them were born in 1902.

What do you all think ?

where do you even find this sort of stuff

Now that I remember, one that could be a WWII vet:

Rolf Steiner (3rd of January 1933-)

Steiner claimed to fought as a Jungvolk volunteer in the Volkssturm (militia) in the last days of World War Two, but no evidence exists to support this claim outside of his own memoirs.

A 1968 article in Time stated: "In the final days of World War II, he fought as a Hitler Youth in Germany’s last-ditch defense against the advancing U.S. Army."

Later fought for France in the First Indochina War (since around 1951) and the Suez Crisis. During the Algerian War he became active in Organisation armée secrète, in the late 1960s he fought for Biafra during the Nigerian Civil war and during the First Sudanese Civil War he fought for Ananya. Mentioned in Forsyth's novel The Dogs of War among with a small group of others, including Mad Mike Hoare.

this guy must hold a record for most wars participated in which he all lost

  8. Damn he actually made it to his 98th Birthday. Pretty impressive feat given his health conditions.

Found one article on his birthday but its more like a compilation of quotes from recent years, not much new stuff

She is the longest reigning monarch still alive. (reign: 69 years 157 days)

She will become longest reigning monarch ever (overtaking Louis XIV of France) on 8 May 2024.

She is the oldest monarch currently alive. (age: 95 years 84 days), holding that position since 2015

She is the oldest monarch ever alive.

She is currently 15th on the list of oldest state leaders still living.

She is the oldest state leader still living and still in office.

Well she isnt the oldest Monarch ever alive yet, the 97 year old Sultan of Brunei still holds that record
