It is true and it also applies to actors and so-called sports "personalities". Lots of them, including many obscure nonentities, are "remembered" at Awards Ceremonies every year. The big problem is when aging or forgotten "stars" inflict their "singing "on us (notably at Royal concerts) and expect us to be grateful for being tortured. Tom Jones, Rod Stewart and even Robbie Williams should follow Elton's belated example and leave us in peace.

British householders are forced to pay the BBC tax, aka the television licence fee. If they don't, they will be fined or imprisoned. Edwards has been paid around £500k per annum over the last decade.
