    Dead Drummers

Bit of a shock about Alan White, because yesterday I saw the news that he won't be playing on Yes' forthcoming tour - which might seem paradoxical, but it didn't sound as if he was that ill. He'd been having back problems for a long time, so for some years they'd had a second drummer who did increasingly more of the playing.

I don't know, but I can imagine the headlines if it was confirmed: "IT'S MANTHEA!"

    Very Blue Peter

I was once told that at a party, Grant Bovey's ex-wife had loudly announced that Anthea Turner was a hermaphrodite.

    King Charles III

It will feel odd to say "The King" instead of "The Queen." And he'll be on the stamps and money.

Here it is, "Eve" from 1968. I remember watching it on Granada, late on a Monday night...

    Dead Pop Stars

The magpie looks as if it's vomiting out the show's title. Great theme tune though.

Marvel Comics / DC Comics / Others

Neal Adams was definitely a major figure in American comics, for his influence on other artists as much as for his own work. Also there really aren't many artists from comics' Silver Age of the 1960s left now.

The Next Piper At The Gates Of Heaven

The original Tangerine Dream line-up as of their first album, Electronic Meditation, are all gone now - Froese, Schulze and Conrad Schnitzler.

The Next Piper At The Gates Of Heaven

Apparently Berlin School electronic artist Klaus Schulze has died. An early member of Tangerine Dream, he went on to a long solo career.

    Leslie Phillips

He doesn't look bad for 53 or 54, as he was then.

    20th Century Americans Sitcoms

According to Kenneth Anger* you might have to wait till he's finished with "the fist-fuck set." *A good pick for future DPs, btw. He's about 94 and looks as if the forces of occult darkness turned up to collect.

He looks as if his head and upper and lower body have been taken apart, then put back together but not all the same way round.

    Bryan Ferry (And Roxy Music)

They're playing a 50th anniversary tour, with Ferry, Manzanera, Mackay and Paul Thompson. Not Eno, which might have been interesting.

    Films with entirely dead casts

Burnt Offerings (1976) which was on Talking Pictures the other week is a contender for this thread - of the main cast, the only one still alive is Lee Montgomery (b. 1961). There are also a handful of bit parts, mostly taken by obscure players who were adults at the time. Todd Turquand (b. 1964) played Oliver Reed's character as a child, his last IMDB credit was in 1978 and he seems to have gone into the watch business.

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Incidentally, if it's bad music you're after try his version of "Sympathy For The Devil" from the same album.

I wonder if Bryan Ferry knew back then that Lesley Gore was a lesbian?
