What Are You Listening To Right Now?
Slackhurst Broadcasting replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Here you are, as recorded in 1973... -
When it happens it's very unlikely that they'll be able to keep it quiet for long. More likely there'll be a few hours or days of announcements that the monarch's life is drawing peacefully to a close.

Not musicians, but Albert Goldman died on a plane in mid-Atlantic flight. And Carrie Fisher collapsed in flight, though she hung on for a few days in intensive care.

One for the Foreigners Who Probably Got Tired Of English People Laughing At Their Name thread: former Luxembourg cabinet minister and MEP Jacques Poos has died aged 86. (It's pronounced "pose", actually.)

Seen Any Good Films Lately?

Watched Godard's One Plus One (Sympathy For The Devil) in the small hours of yesterday morning. I really like the scene in the sleazy bookshop and the "interview" scene with Anne Wiazemski. Also noticed that the film's almost exactly at the halfway mark when "Sympathy For The Devil" suddenly starts sounding like its final form. -

I'm a bit surprised to learn that Jack Smethurst was still alive. Re Stephen Lewis, he was also in the film Staircase as a bit of rough that one of the gay hairdresser couple brings home. (I forget whether it's Rex Harrison or Richard Burton, both giving career-worst performances.) -
She looks youthful for someone of 110.

More like Leon Trotsky.

As for Andrew, I think somebody's decided that it simply can't be risked putting him on oath.

I remember once getting a £5 note on which somebody had given the Queen a goatee beard and glasses, and having some discussion about whether that was one of the things for which you could still be hanged.

If he did die of Covid it'd be somewhat embarrassing for the government.

Graham Nash is also an old boyfriend of Joni Mitchell's. -
I was surprised to see it as a lead story on the BBC.

There's a huge and fantastically expensive book about Muhammad Ali that's called GOAT and on its cover simply has the title in big letters. I remember thinking it looked silly.
-
Not saying it's likely, but imagine if Elvis did turn up alive now...
-
Well there are a few gone now, and in the next ten years or so they'll probably come down in a heap.

This thread's title always makes me think there should be a Fleetwood Mac thread.

The fact is that when Hazel O'Connor was launched with Breaking Glass and its soundtrack album, her new-wave vocal style was very obviously derived from Lene Lovich, who had indeed had a hit record the year before and was still around, if on the way down. Re George Michael, I'm not sure there's much credit in having sex with a man who was arrested in a public toilet.

More a pound shop Lene Lovich.

I think Boris might actually stick on.

Bit of an age difference! And he's survived her.... -
Wearing the resigned expression of a man who knows he'll never get to play a sex scene with Sharon Stone unless she murders him at the end of it.

In 1999 Stephen King was run over and nearly killed while walking along a road. That would have been a surprising death, for someone rich and famous.
-
The first track, anyway.

Robert Smith of The Cure. His sudden death would provoke a flood of self-indulgent reminiscences from media people who were goths in their young days.
