The idea of Dylan songs turning up in ads and lousy films is sickening, somehow. You can just see some twat remaking the "Subterranean Homesick Blues" clip.

She was doing all right if she survived till 1939, never mind the 21st century.

Who Should Make The Deathlist In 2021?

It's hard to foresee a surprise celebrity death. Unless you feel like going the Mark Chapman route. -

There are two Marsha Hunts. One is a white actress born in 1917 and yes, she is still alive aged 103! Perhaps her best- remembered role nowadays is in the Outer Limits episode "Zzzzz" as a woman whose scientist husband is seduced by a bee. The other Marsha Hunt is a black singer born in 1946, best known now for having a child by Mick Jagger. At 75 next year maybe not a bad pick? -

Godard deserves a place on the list. He could go any time, he is possibly the world's most influential film-maker now living (and his death will surely be followed by much discussion about whether his films were any good or not), and he's an "icon" of the 1960s. -

Reminds me of how frankly pornographic newspaper coverage of sex crimes used to be - not least in the Daily Mail. -

There's a priceless moment in Granada's "Manhunt" Ripper documentary (made c.1999) where Dick Holland talks about why police took the Ripper letters seriously: "It said the next one would be an old bag in Manchester, or words to that effect. (Dramatic pause...) "The next one was." -

The obesity might be caused by his medication and/or his illnesses (circulation problems = water retention, etc). It's not surprising if he doesn't keep physically active. I wonder what goes through his head. Before his trial he's supposed to have told someone that he'd get put in a nuthouse and let out in ten years. Did he really believe that? How must he have felt when he realised he wasn't getting out in twenty years, or thirty, or ever? -

Re people dressing as Wombles, Jimmy Savile is said to have assaulted two children, a boy and a girl, while wearing a Womble costume in his dressing room on Top Of The Pops.

It would be quite interesting if Biden dropped dead shortly after being inaugurated to see the wokesters trying to restrain their urge to congratulate themselves on getting a woman president. I'm sure there are some who'd openly say "He was an old white guy, who cares?"

When he does go, I wonder will the media find the person heard shouting "Die you bastard, fucking die," on the news footage of him being brought back to Leeds from Sheffield? -

There’s a Led Zeppelin bootleg recording from the Seventies, and the tape machine is near to two people who for some reason are talking about Gordon Haskell, with one of them saying what an asshole he is. -

The Rolling Stone list mixes the predictable, the dull, and the laughable. It’s not improved by an obvious terror of including too much by old white rockers. On a practical level, it’s far too long. With 500 choices there’s bound to be some ridiculous or embarrassing ones. Also I don’t think such a list should be “representative” or “inclusive.”

Bollocks to “I Am Woman,” but “Angie Baby” was an odd, rather creepy record that deserves to be remembered.

The Brookside "set" was a group of real houses that now have actual people living in them. Incidentally, the guy who played Jimmy Corkhill was in real life a very wealthy man thanks to his investments in property. He was also gay and, so I was once told, in a relationship with the Granada weatherman Fred Talbot. -
