Marvel Comics / DC Comics / Others

As said elsewhere, Denny O’Neil was a key figure in comics’ “Bronze Age”, especially at DC, where he was a leading writer of “relevant” stories in which superheroes tackled racism, pollution, drugs etc. All extremely dated now, but nonetheless fun to read. -

What does Rose West look like now? Has there been a picture taken of her since 1995? -

I’m guessing the above was about the late Denny O’Neil.* Perhaps there should be a thread for Comic Books and Strips? (*Who was a very notable figure in his field - one of the definitive writers in American comics’ “Bronze Age” of the early Seventies.) -
I’m surprised no one’s objected to the major’s talk as being funny about senility.

Same birthday as the Marquis de Sade and Charlie Watts. -
The woke police point the finger rather than the gun, but they use their weapons viciously, with or without probable cause. They charge people and find them guilty “because they can and because of what they (the accused) look like”. And they think intervention is always required - so they’re always willing to spend time, say, prosecuting dead people for using the word “poofter” forty years ago.

The woke police would have anyone who released that song today.

With the death of Steve Priest the Sweet are down to their last survivor, guitarist Andy Scott. Presumably it also means there’ll only be one version of the band still playing live. -

Ian Hunter will be 83 next year and has outlived at least two other members of Mott. At the very least his odds are getting longer. -

I assumed he'd be playing guitar at Buckingham Palace today. -
That keyboard player’s afro would probably protect him from a blow over the head with a lead pipe. But a great record.

Re bands with many members, The Fall are counted as having had 66 different members. Only 3 of them are now deceased (including 2018 Death Lister Mark E. Smith). With the later members having been born in the late 80s/early 90s, it could be a very long time till there’s a last survivor. -

Incidentally Caravan are still going. Their drummer Richard Coughlan lived till 2013, and all the other members past and present are still alive. -

There's the Arrows ("Touch Too Much" and "I Love Rock And Roll"), whose guitarist and singer Alan Merrill died of coronavirus the other week. The other two members of the original trio had died within the last decade or so.
