    Alex Higgins (And Snooker)

RIP Willie Thorne - Willie was a true snooker obsessive and fan as well as player, I'm not old enough to remember him playing but I've listened to thousands of hours of him talking about snooker matches and providing valuable insight over many years. I'll miss his commentary. It's a shame his life has ended at a relatively young age and been somewhat marred by off table problems - but it's always been clear he was a damn good player and damn good commentator.

It was a joke on the thread of LFN's cottaging reference - it's less funny if you explain it..... At 50p (the cost of a public toilet if you really have nowhere else to meet) being cheaper than the club (£3.00-5.00 on the door or £3.00-£5.00 for at least one drink)

    The World of the Snowflake

They chose the wrong way of phrasing the actually problem.... It's 'where are you from' 'town both parties live in' 'no where are you really from' 'you mean where are my parents from?' I've heard that one a million times aimed at friends/acquaintances. I'm not sure why they've chosen England as the answer when in reality it's normally the local town. This is something that should be stamped out.

Heresy. The point was more that EE is completely dropping off a cliff ratings wise and while Corrie is obviously nowhere near that state all it would take is a few bad producers and it could be. Hopefully it never happens though, obviously. If they want to do any talking heads features about the really early years of the show for the 60th anniversary they have a limited number of surviving cast members to choose from. These are the folk who were introduced in those years and remain alive. (Although it's worth being absolutely clear her that Barbara Knox appeared in a single episode in the 1960s here and were it not for her 1970s return would not be included on this list). Highlighted anyone of relative note in the era of 60-65 in bold. It's one of the most watched shows on telly, I accept that; but I still don't think it can maintain that position indefinitely (look at what's happening to EE for a worst case scenario). Although I appreciate you were probably around to listen to the first episode of Front Line Family never mind watch the first episode of Corrie and have heard unnecessarily worrisome folk like me crow about it being near to cancellation for decades. I think at some point it's going to be an unviable product for ITV - there desperation to crank it back up 6 episodes is worrying in that it shows they're keeping it on air for da monies rather than out of love for the show.

The number of such families must be getting smaller and smaller, what with PCs etc. You can kind of see that by the estimated viewer numbers going from 15-20 million a mere 20 years ago to 5 to 8 million now, that's the 12 million bairns that had nothing better to do in the 90s but are now sat upstairs playing COD or Minecraft while the parents watch telly. I mean there's 12 million pensioners - 2/3rds of that lot is 8 million - which is the highest rating Corrie gets nowadays.

I couldn't see ITV being willing to sell the rights to it across to the BBC, they've only given the BBC permission to show 3 episodes in it's entire history. I reckon if it's figures ever really really dipped it would head off to ITV3 for that afternoon slot currently occupied by the Classic Corrie re-runs (misnamed if you ask me - the 90s is not classic corrie, and you don't start a classic corrie re-run from 1986 - yes I'm just bit the 1960s have still never being repeated or added to a streaming service - the ones that have been added to Britbox are a mere 32 episodes from the shows entire run). It certainly doesn't seem to be in imminent danger with it comfortably sitting in the upper echelons of the Top 10 with around 6 to 8 million viewers during the lock down period, but the likelihood of it sustaining those figures as we ease out of lock-down into summer is probably lower - although it was doing similar numbers over the winter. It would need to shed a mammoth amount of viewers to start rivalling it's lowest rating ever of 5.175m viewers on the 20th February 2015. Was getting 6.9m for w/c 25th May but we all know there's less folk stuck indoors now. Until it dips below 5m it's hard to even think it's in any imminent danger, but at some point the viewership must be due to decline again - don't think it can afford another fallow patch like 2015 where it's edging close to such numbers. It'd be interesting to see if the 60th anniversary episode in December can scrape over 10m viewers on 7 day 4 screen- after all it was only 10 years ago 14.9m tuned in to watch the anniversary episode. @msc as I know you don't see my posts for a long time after they go up.

I had no idea you weren't going to update it? I'm not bloody telepathic am I? If you're spending years updating a list that can be updated in a couple of hours it's you whose wasting your time! It's my list anyway, I'm the one who created it originally, as you'd understand if you had the common decency to take me off being blocked.... it's not about trolling you. The list was MPs over 70, you've claimed ownership of a list that belongs to another member for no good reason other than you're own sense of self importance and not even asked the member for permission to take it over...... It gets updated a little while after every GE - of MPs over 70 and will continue to be updated in that manner. I think everybody knows whose wasted their time, and it's certainly not me. You might also want to make others aware you've claimed eternal ownership of their lists so they don't do it they way they originally intended to do it - post-election updates within 6 months....

To be frank he can hardly say I didn't try to inform him, I even went to the effort of PMing other members (realising he probably had me blocked) to try and pass the fact it had been done on given I couldn't PM him myself. If he wants to waste countless hours doing things that have already been done because he's decided to block someone then he can be my guest. Although I would at least request he spoiler tags the info so those who've just read it a few weeks ago don't have to read it again....

Hello. I updated it on the 26th May 2020 - if you unblocked me - you'd have noticed. Can somebody who YW has not had blocked perhaps explain to him the list was updated on the 26th May 2020 - i.e 26th May of this year by the creator of the list, and there is absolutely no reason at all for him to post an update on it a mere three weeks ago - which is what OoO is politely pointing out? And especially not to post it unspoilered and across 5/6 posts making it impossible to scroll past if someone isn't interested. You don't need to keep it updated, I'm doing it - it's my list after-all..

I would agree however YoungWillz clearly doesn't. He has me blocked and if I was to be polite I'd suggest he didn't see my updated list on the 26th May of this year. I trust Willz enough to respect the fact he probably has done the research rather than C+P'ed my Mp list, but the reason he's decided to it a mere 3 weeks after it was updated is unclear? I couldn't PM him to inform him I'd done the list however I posted in this thread to inform him I'd updated the list as well as PMed another member who he hasn't blocked to pass on that fact via PM. So I'm really not sure why he's felt the need to post the same list again... (especially as so few MPs have died in the past 3 weeks) It's about 3 weeks since it was last updated. And at least I had the courtesy do it in one post and spoiler tagged.
