After the first round officially came to and end earlier this month with the sacking of Lee Johnson, lets get cracking with Season 2. With confirmation that the Premier League will start on the 12th September and that the Championship will start between 29 August or 12 September and the .... To avoid a bunch of easy pickings with the season ending firings that are bound to come after the Championship and Premier League final days, the round 2 submission deadline will be on the 1st August 2020 at FA Cup KO (usually 17:00 possibly 17:30) so I can compile a master-list while watching it Rules Submit a team of 20 names. Please please submit as many substitutes as you possibly can - as we're in end of season especially if you are entering early! You need 20 names still managing the club you selected them for as of game start. Ask @msc if you want to know how easy it is to fall foul of this rule. (I recommend anywhere from 5 to 15 substitutes!) The first person to have all 20 names they chose leave their club (this can be due to resignation, termination, mutual termination or any other form of sacking) wins. It's as simple as that. A club competing in these leagues or due to be promoted to or relegated from a valid league as of the cut off date is valid regardless of if they get relegated or promoted (a quick glance suggests with the exception of the Championship that will be settled before the FA Cup final and the Championship doesn't really matter for eligibility as it relegates and promotes to valid leagues). Valid Leagues are English Premier League English Championship English League One English League Two English National League English National League North English National League South Scottish Premiership Scottish Championship Scottish League One Scottish League Two Welsh Premier League Welsh Cymru Alliance League Northern Irish Football League Premiership Northern Irish Football League Championship Good luck.

I swear we had one of these but can't find oy, a snooker equivelant for the football thread in EC. Discussion of snooker, the sport, as we enter the World Championship as we head into the new season. I'm really looking forward to O'Sullivan vs Thepchaiya Un-Nooh. Should be good.

Lets have a go at a new dead pool. Enter a team of 20 names who have appeared in a soap opera. They can have appeared in any radio or television soap opera, broadcast in any country in any language. Basic Points Number them from 1 to 20, you will receive 20 points for No 1, 19 points for No 2, 18 points for No 3 etc. To encourage people to pick names that have actually been soap actors rather than appeared in an episode of a soap bonus points will be available for: Any actor who has appeared in more than 500 episodes of a Soap Opera +5 points Any actor who has appeared in more than 1000 episodes of a Soap Opera +5 points Any actor who has appeared in more than 2000 episodes of a Soap Opera +10 points Any actor who has appeared in more than 3000 episodes of a Soap Opera + 10 points Any actor who has appeared in more than 5000 episodes of a Soap Opera +20 points Any actor whose soap character has been a murderer +15 points Any actor whose soap character has had more than 5 marriages +10 points Anyone who was on a single soaps cast for 10 continuous years + 5 points Anyone who was on a single soaps cast for 20 continuous years + 5 points Anyone who was on a single soaps cast for 30 continuous years +10 points Anyone who was on a single soaps cast for 40 continuous years + 10 points Anyone who was on a single soaps cast for 50 continuous years + 20 points Anyone who was on a single soaps cast for 60 continuous years* +30 points Any actor who has appeared in more than one soap opera +10 points for each soap opera Anyone involved in a car crash +10 points Anyone involved in a boat crash +20 points Anyone who was a pub landlord/landlady +30 points Anyone who reappeared as a ghost in a subsequent story line after there character died +50 points Soap stars who are still regularly appearing in a soap opera at their time of death +75 points For each decade they are away from reaching 80 +5 points (i.e 60-69 year old 5 points, 50-59 year old 10 points, 40-49 year old 15 points.) *For our purposes continuous years is classed as playing the same character without a break exceeding 12 months between broadcast episodes. Point Stack (So an actor whose appeared in Coronation Street and Emmerdale and 1000 episodes of each placed at no 1 would be worth 50 points [ (20 + (5 + 5) + (10+10) ] If there person is not a household name in the United Kingdom a brief description is encouraged for example William Roache (Ken Barlow, Coronation Street from 1960-Present) Entry Shite 1. Send your team via PM no later than 23:59 on the 31st May 2020 2. Competition will run from 00:01 1st June 2019 to 23:59 31st May 2021 3. My ruling on whether someone is a soap star is final. 4. Lowbrow obit requirement - anything in any language that says there dead from a local rag or higher in the food chain. Entrants Bibliogryphon CaptainChorizo

Has the secret service finally realised you've tipped above their age limits? Sorry I couldn't resist that one (you don't how disappointed I was when you said you were a chemist, that said - perfect cover).... anyway in all seriousness, I hope things work out for you looking for another job - it must be serious for them to be letting people with that much service go. -
The evening session begins in 10 minutes and Slowby has just won 13-12.....

I think Ding could. Ronnie really hates the Worlds, I can't imagine a best of 25 is any less boring (surely even more so) with no crowd?
-
Ronnie v Ding as a second round match still feels ridiculous. Also qualifier now guaranteed in the semis with Maflin's win.

Higgins makes first 147 at the crucible for 8 years since Stephen Hendry in 2012. Bringing the all time total at crucible to 11 (3 by Hendry, 3 by O'Sullivan and one each for Ali Carter, John Higgins, Cliff Thorburn, Jimmy White and Mark Williams.)

To be honest a lot of northerner's would be more than happy to be transitioned to being part of Scotland -
I don't think we'll ever find out what actually happened here. A hezbollah factory going up and then setting off the nitrate seems the most likely.

Looks like he's already dead. Convinced he's having 'young blood treatment' -

So the first round is almost over and the second round is almost upon us. Due to the way crucible matches are scheduled (to guarantee at least 8 frames a session for viewers or more normally ticket paying audience) we won't know 2 of the second round players until after the first 2 round matches are underwater. In addition there's still 1 match to be finished tonight, I'll update as we get clarity. So the draw for the second round currently looks like..... (Best of 25 over 3 sessions - 8 frames, 8 frames, 9 frames) Judd Trump v Yan Bigtao (6 & 7 August) Martin Gould v Kyren Wilson (8 & 9 August) John Higgins 3 v 5 Kurt Maflin (5 and 6 August) Anthony McGill v Jamie Clarke (7, 8 & 9 August) ------ Mark Williams 5 v 3 Stuart Bingham (5, 6 & 7 August) Ding Junhui v Ronnie O'Sullivan (7,8 & 9 August) Mark Selby v Noppon Saengkham (6 & 7 August) Barry Hawkins v Neil Robertson (8 & 9 August) What an exciting second round. But the standout match is of course that Ding v Ronnie match, the kind of match you'd expect to be a quarter or a semi, not a second round.

Oh. Is that how the twitterati think it is. Going to be a more than a bit embarrassing for gov, although at least he was a minister under a different prime minister! He hardly came across as a nice guy tbf.

The Vatican should sue him for misrepresentation for resigning on ill health. He's clearly been granted immortality by God.

An incredible match between Jack Lisowski and Anthony McGill tonight. McGill eventually winning 10-9 with an excellent pot on the blue from about 10.5-11ft distance from the blue to the white with just the blue, pink and black on the table and both players needing blue and pink to win..... Now that's a good close match.... On the opposite spectrum Ronnie beat Thepchaiya-Un_Nooh 10-1 in a crucible record of 108 minutes for a Best of 19.
-
Yan Bigtao narrowly avoids getting the bottle-job champion of the world award by winning 10-7 after being 9-2 up at one point.....

Spelling the names in 1337 5|>34|< won't protect you from a libel claim.

It's brilliant is it. Some old school antics from Kurt Maflin tonight after losing position on a 147 attempt
-
Neil Robertson has won through to next round...
-
No it wouldn't, because these threads are in Extra-Curricular deliberately to avoid that issue....
-
Covered under the Motorsports thread that was literally started a few hours ago.... And this thread isn't about likeliness of death, it's about the matches. Robertson in a commanding position 8-5 up and 40 points to the good.

Neither of those sports are anywhere near as popular as motorsports or snooker.
-
It's pretty clear what the intention of this thread is - a bit like the footy one - talking about the sport rather than those who once played and are now dead, unless your going to merge football with Time Added you don't really have much case to lock/merge this one with the Alex Higgins one....
