I remember this local "beware of thin ice" PSA scaring me quite well: -
Good riddance, a welcome death. From the quote, Steel Warrior Mai Xiande is still alive, although not such a big name he has a very interesting story and is even slightly likable. During the Battle of Dong-Yin (1965) he was an electromechanical engineer on frigate and was hit by a shrapnel from a torpedo, but despite a massive damage to the brain (see below) he allegedly stayed at his post for 3 hours. No idea how that is survivable, but he'll be 80 next year.

Orthodox Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia looks unconscious here, two days ago:
-
Stjepan Mesic hospitalised with serious leg injury, will be in hospital/rehabilitation for weeks but "doing fine".
-
South African gospel singer Solly Moholo gravely ill with multiple organ failure, prayers asked. I saw it earlier and didn't decide to post as it was originally a "minor stroke"...and Dilon fucking Djindji, 30 years older, is still alive despite similar health issues.
-
Daniel Bisogno allegedly hospitalised in critical condition today, just days after he was discharged.

Video taken this month on facebook (of Pappammal). They admit she's suffering from "an illness", but whatever illness it is, she's in late stages, looks horrible compared to the quoted image.

Could we start using this thread again for some of these cases?: There are a few groups of very different bodybuilders or "bodybuilders". 1) The classic, natural bodybuilders (Samson Burke, Joe Weider, Manohar Aich, Len Sell, Peter Lupus, Clarence Bass...many others) 2) The modern ones who aren't natural, but are actual bodybuilders of IFB/NABBA, etc. (Arnold, Ronnie Coleman, Dorian Yates, Bertil Fox, Ritva Elomaa and nearly all the current ones...more borderline cases include Craig Titus, Miloš Šarčev, Rich Piana, Ernie Taylor and Gregg Valentino, but they still are/were actual bodybuilders too) 3) Synthol freaks/Instagram Hulks/YouTube monstrosities (Valdir Segato, Ronny Rono, Kirill Tereshin, Moustafa Ismail, Romario Dos Santos Alves, Arlindo de Souza, Bostin Loyd...and these Golem Yefimchyk and Matheus Pavlak) The two first groups fit into this thread. My personal opinion is that modern, self-proclaimed bodybuilders who have never competed and/or are only famous on social media should not be posted here.

Chinese media is reporting that four new Medals of the Republic have been awarded for the first time since 2020, making the total amount of inductees 13. These four are: Wang Yongzhi (1932-2024) General architect and designer of China's Shenzhou program (China Manned Space Program) Li Zhensheng (1931-) Geneticist who specializes in wheat. Wang Zhenyi (1924-) Pathophysiologist who discovered the cure for acute promyelocytic leukemia. Huang Zhongde (1931-) Korean War hero -
The top ten newcomer is Laurina Sangenito, who underwent six months of chemo last year. Never heard of a supercentenarian undergoing chemo before.
-
General Moses Ali annoyed at death rumors, asks for prayers as he'll travel to Munich for a "medical review".
-
MK Rasgotra, former Foreign Secretary of India has turned 100, looks great: As far as I know he's the oldest living Indian member of government by more than six years. Here's a two-hour interview from last month.

Seems that LK Advani has already been discharged: https://m.economictimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/bjp-chief-jp-nadda-visits-lk-advani-murli-manohar-joshi-renews-their-membership/articleshow/113102276.cms Jorge Lanata's improving more and seems he might somehow make it. They want to discharge him to a rehab center with 24/7 monitoring and ventilator support at night through tracheotomy. His worst problem currently is multifactorial encephalopathy. Sitaram Yechury "critical but stable" which atleast previously has been Indian for "he's fucked, but hanging on"
-
Nritya Gopal Das discharged.
-
Mustafa Monwar improving, but the article mentions he has suffered from prostate cancer "for a long time". Jorge Lanata improving again, somehow. South African former Finance, Public Enterprises Minister and anti-apartheid activist Pravin Gordhan hospitalised. He was in ill health a couple of times last year and retired from politics a couple of months ago due to failing health.
-
Kitanofuji Katsuaki absent from commentary again, which has previously meant he's in very poor health...Probably a goner this time.
-
Mizoram Governor Kambhampati Hari Babu "in severe ill health".
-
Yuriko Mikasa out of ICU after three weeks. Two strokes and pneumonia apparently aren't enough to kill a 101-year-old who has suffered from heart failure for atleast four years.
-

I can't find any mention of this, but Osamu Nishimura who was Funk's partner in the match has stage 4 esophageal cancer.
-
Critical in ICU. Doesn't sound too serious. Edit: "Doing fine", but according to his vice-mahant. The CM will reportedly visit him tomorrow.

My pick Alfredo Karam has died at 99. Here's an obituary in Portuguese that says he died on the 6th of September.
-
Not the death I expected when I saw the notification. He had been in quite good health in recent years.
