    Who are the immortals?

Enrile's facebook is amusing. Each to their own, but if I'd live to 100 I'd try to not spend my remaining months debating randoms online.

    From Cleric To Relic

Divaldo Franco (97-year-old Spiritist leader) begins cancer treatments (radiotherapy with small doses of chemo). For some reason I doubt his cancer is actually survivable.

    World's Oldest

Gunnel Stenbäck, oldest in Finland and former head of the Helsinki Deaconess Foundation dead at 110. Oldest in Finland now I believe is Arvi Hämäläinen, born in January 1917. Quite a drop. I mentioned Hämäläinen here some months ago, he's a (very slightly) locally notable costume designer and has had multiple hospitalisations since 2021.

    Deathrace 2025

Deathrace Form Guide #14 Luigi Manocchio The 97-year-old former boss of the Patriarca crime family has been said to be "close to the end" for multiple months now, starting from August when there was a "living funeral" type of event for him and Eddie Lato. Manocchio allegedly suffers from quite advanced prostate cancer and was erroneously reported dead back in September. A very low-hanging fruit.

    Hospitalised!

Álvaro Noboa, controversial Ecuadorian businessman (Bonita bananas), current president's father and politician hospitalised following heart attack. Either critical in ICU or "just undergoing checkups" depending on who you believe. Suffers from Parkinson's and other ailments.

    Missing In Action

Kimmo Kiljunen, 73-year-old Finnish Member of Parliament and Foreign Affairs Committee chair missing according to wife following controversy on comments about opening the Eastern border. While it doesn't sound serious (atleast yet), I recall he's had some troubles with alcohol use before. Hoping he hasn't offed himself. Edit: He's back and has resigned from his position as Foreign Affairs Committee chair.

    Advent Avalanche 2024

Advent Avalanche Form Guide #2 Archbishop Irenaios of Crete The 91-year-old Eastern Orthodox Church cleric has been suffering from motor neurone disease (+ mild dementia) for more than 4 years. He has proven to be tough, but respiratory infections are on the rise this season. Back in 2022 Irenaios' successor said he "daily educates us with his holy patience and exemplary determination in his illness". Will he conveniently run out of holy patience and exemplary determination at the beginning of December?

    Slavs

Larisa Luzhina hospitalised in ICU with heart problems, but "doing well", "stable" etc. Apparently she has been "very shocked" about the death of actress Svetlana Svetlichnaya who died two weeks ago at 84 from multiple organ failure due to advanced oropharyngeal cancer and had also suffered from unrelated brain cancer and advanced dementia. I'd have been a bit less shocked.

Who Should Be On The Deathlist 2025?

Going through the names suggested here: Kinsella for some reason doesn't feel like a "traditionally famous" celebrity to me, but she is pretty fucking famous to the extent I've seen her books in supermarkets here. Violeta Chamorro has been very close to death for a very long time but feels like someone the DL would never pick. (Manmohan Singh is another. I have more hopes with Mahathir, although that time might've passed already too) Ditka, Mujica, Plowright, Goodyear, Sir John Williams, Hedren, Antonia Fraser, Johnnie Walker, Richard Wilson all feel like very good bets. Disagree on Giorgio Armani and Mamie Van Doren, as far as I know they're both in great health. Bruce Willis feels like an initially "overhyped" pick that'll drag on for much longer than anyone thought, the same for Paul Biya unfortunately.

2016: Ken Helcher 2017: King Michael of Romania 2018: Chris Bradley 2019: Karl Kiefer 2020: Zafarullah Khan Jamali 2021: Anthony Sher 2022: Nick Bollettieri 2023: Juan Pablo Adame As you can't find that much info on the winners of 2018 and 2019 online and they have no Wikipedia pages: Bradley was an Ohioan (WBNS) Chief Meteorologist with leukemia. Karl Kiefer was a local US football coach who'd been in hospice following a heart attack.

To name a few Mahathir Mohamad - 99 with enormous heart problems Sidney Cooke - Extremely old, hit to celebrate Rupert Murdoch - turning 94, large health history, cunt Ruth Buzzi - Enormous health history, dementia Tom Lehrer - Seems frail, forum favourite Geoffrey Boycott - Cancer, heart problems David Irving - Was dying at some point of this year.

    Advent Avalanche 2024

Advent Avalanche Form Guide #1 Andrew Bruce, 11th Earl of Elgin 100-year-old overweight and frail Scottish peer. He very recently outlived his wife of 65 years, making him a decent contender to beat "yesteryear sportsman with terminal cancer" and "Indian MLA with multiple organ failure" by dying right at the start of December.

    The Dead of 2024

A bit niche, but Kari Wahlroos, one of the main perpetrators of the OneCoin crypto scam, Finnish businessman and alleged billionaire has died at 56. Started off as a local colostrum salesman inspired by fraudsters Trevor Lock and Petteri Jussila, made atleast an estimated four billion euros with OneCoin and bought hundreds of apartments in Dubai. This year there'd been some media investigation on his wealth and businesses, and for the first time he'd started claiming he was "not an OneCoin insider". He never regretted anything, kept being involved in other crypto scams and never kept a very low profile. Anyways, he died in a Malaysian hospital from a combination of streptococcus, diabetes, heart problems and stomach cancer after having an amputation earlier and spending two months in coma. Sometimes karma does catch up to you.

    Who are the immortals?

I can't see any of these recently mentioned people dying in the next two weeks atleast. None of them feel that near to death, but three deaths here in two months just feels like too few. I'd say it's much more likely that one of the following dies soon: Zou Yu: 104, pulmonary oedema somewhere around five years ago and not able to make any appearances in recent years. Yu Miu-lin: 87, pulmonary fibrosis and leukemia combo. Remarkably stable, but could realistically die any day. Violeta Chamorro: 95, suffering from brain tumors, advanced dementia and had a debilitating stroke in 2018. Paulo Maluf: 93, prostate cancer for years and now suffering from advanced mixed dementia. Zhu Rongji: 96, advanced parkinson's. Khamtai Siphandone: 100, massive stroke in 2016, heart problems, not seen since 2021 when he was already extremely frail. Chiam See Tong: 89, multiple strokes and so far gone with parkinson's that he did not react to anything around him in 2019. Jayapataka, Nakamatsu and Mahathir make no sense to me. You'd think the ailments they've had in the last years would've killed them or atleast slowed them down somewhat, but all three are regularly attending events and active on social media almost daily.

    Who are the immortals?

Silvia Pinal out of ICU. They were asking for prayers yesterday but apparently she has greatly improved since. Also, interesting article on Dr. Nakamats here. He had a brain stem stroke (caught early) in 2021 and a heart attack late last year (some articles say it was his third one), but is preparing to run for Governor of Tokyo...in 2028.
