    Ideas and possibilities for 2023

These three will also all celebrate their 100th birthdays this month, Chen-Ning on the 22nd, Gordon on the 24th and Leuchtenburg on the 28th. All semi-large names (atleast compared to nearly all of the people on Wikipedia's living centenarians list) especially Chen-Ning, all mentioned on this forum multiple times before

    Military commanders

Baike isn't easy to search but I could find one more ancient General: Xiong Yukun 熊玉坤 (8 Nov 1919-) General, unknown rank, wounded seriously three times during the Long March, including a shrapnel injury on his head and a bullet that pierced through his stomach and intestines. Not in great health.

    Political Frailty

Cesar Virata (former Prime Minister of the Philippines, was in ICU after covid + pneumonia + stroke two years ago) appeared at some event this week, looked pretty horrible (but seems like he always looks miserable): Out of the remaining Marcos cronies, who's next, Virata, JPE, Rodolfo Cuenca? Does Imelda count?

    Death Anniversary Thread

King Tāufaʻāhau Tupou IV, Prime Minister 1949-1965 and King of Tonga 1965-2006 died on this day 16 years ago at 88. Here with Queen Elizabeth II. During his youth he was a keen sportsman, but by the 1970s he was the heaviest monarch in the world at over 200 kg (440 pounds or 31 stone) and also quite tall at 1.96m/6ft5in, his height being a much less known fact. The German government even made special chairs made to support his weight during visits. He was (arguably) an absolute monarch who held a massive amount of power. In the 1990s he lost a third of his weight. Despite getting into records books due to his obesity he did not die on the DL (one appearance, 2003), but a year before he died a DL forum thread was made for him (later also used for his sons and the Tongan monarchy), the first pages are quite a read:

    Deathlist On The Net

The Daily Star strikes again... SICK DEATHLIST CELEBRATES QUEEN'S DEATH WITHIN MOMENTS OF PALACE ANNOUNCEMENT!! ... A disgusting website celebrating the deaths of celebrities in a quasi-hit list has announced the passing of Queen Elizabeth II just moments after Buckingham Palace issued a statement, describing the tragedy as "From Sceptre to Spectre" A sick website predicting the deaths of celebrities has celebrated the passing of Queen Elizabeth II just moments after her death was announced. ... The DeathList, at deathlist.net, has a list of 50 celebrities they expect to die in 2022 and proudly proclaims that her Majesty is now the seventh in the morbid list to have died. The sickening website read "From Sceptre to Spectre", adding that more details were to follow.

    From Cleric To Relic

Russell M. Nelson celebrated his 98th today: Could be the youngest-looking 98-year-old I've seen. Another major religious leader, Yusuf al-Qaradawi celebrated his 96th today, but can't find any new pictures of him.

Why no Indians ever in DeathList?

I think I've seen the name possibly once before. Kamal Narain Singh seems to have been a pretty minor name, only served under a month and I can't find much anything on him on the internet. The oldest and earliest living Chief Justice of India is now M. N. Venkatachaliah, 93 next month.

    12. Queen Elizabeth II

Here's my bets on the Asian ones over 70/ill - if invited (and a lot of the Asian royals were invited in 1952): Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei: now the longest-reigning monarch in the world, he's grown frailer during the last years, but will be there. Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain: Not that frail. Will be there. Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia: Flies to China frequently for medical treatment and "checkups", most recently was there three weeks ago. My bet is that he'll be there. King Salman of Saudi Arabia: He's still somewhat capable of attending events in his homecountry, but I doubt he'll be there because of his dementia. Vajiralongkorn of Thailand: Playboy king of Thailand, spent time in ICU last year. 2009 US cable leaked by Wikileaks said "Vajiralongkorn is believed to be suffering from a blood-related medical condition (varying sources claim he is either: HIV positive; has Hepatitis C; is afflicted by a rare form of “blood cancer,” or some combination which leads to regular blood transfusions)." if he won't appear he's probably very ill, my bet is that he'll be there. Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait: From what I understand he's in very ill health, spends time abroad for treatment, has mostly transferred power to his 81-year-old half-brother and Crown Prince who is also quite ill. What about former monarchs? I wonder if there'll be any there, I could imagine Constantine II, last King of Greece there, but he'll be too ill to attend.

    12. Queen Elizabeth II

Massive formspotting opportunity. I'm especially interested on who'll be there from European and Asian royals*. There were atleast 7 foreign monarchs at the funeral of King George VI. *Hassanal Bolkiah, Salman and the Emir of Kuwait (both could be represented by the crown princes as both are very ill), Harald V, Vajiralongkorn.

The Cardinals Of The Roman Catholic Church

Cardinal Wamala five days ago: His hands and face seem very bloated. Out of the cardinals, who are known to be ill/very frail? Julius Darmaatmadja was already too ill to attend the 2013 conclave. Severino Poletto? Ex-cardinal, pedo Theodore McCarrick looked very frail a year ago. Luis Héctor Villalba and Duarte Langa rarely appear anywhere but I have no idea if they're actually ill.

    12. Queen Elizabeth II

A couple of ones internationally remain, Raif Dizdarevic, Giorgio Napolitano and Valdas Adamkus participated in underground movements during the war. She was possibly the last living royal WWII veteran. Last meaning last, as far as I know no other living royal anywhere could be counted as a WWII vet. *Thailand's Prince Bhisadej Rajani who died in July at 100 seems to have been the penultimate one. Probably the last royal combat vet, Rajani was a British Army spy and soldier.

Most Significant Death Of Each Month

Atleast to me the Popes wouldn't be as large deaths as QEII. Neither would any other even somewhat expected death. The news here called her the "most known living person alive before she died" and I agree. The only thing that would "outdo" her as the death of the month for me would be the death of one of the world's top political leaders: Putin, Biden, Xi or Modi.

Don't think I've ever posted this. The Queen visited Finland in 1976, was taken to a logging site in a forest, offered a lumberjack helmet and vodka. Not sure if she ever visited Finland after this
