    Who are the immortals?

I forgot MM Lawrence from that CPIM list. Former CPIM central committee member, and Achuthanandan's friend/enemy/comrade, age around 93. He's been getting frailer and frailer for the last six years, multiple lengthy hospitalisations since 2021, bedbound and hospitalised in October 2022. Most recently he's been criticizing the current CPIM leaders and outlived his son (BJP member Avd. Abraham ML) two months ago. Alma Adamkienė said to be "stable" but Valdas says he "doesn't see that stabilization" as she doesn't react to anything in any way.

    Last appearances

Haredi Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, Prince of Torah, under 24 hours before his death at 94. In January 2010 he ruled that "time of death may only be determined when one’s heart ceases to function, without any connection whatsoever to brain activity" - he went on to live another twelve years and two months. On the 18th of March 2022 he collapsed at his home from a massive heart attack and died quickly despite CPR.

    The Happy Birthday Thread

Henri Konan Bédié, President of the Ivory Coast 1993-1999, 89 today! He succeeded longtime president Houphouët-Boigny a few hours after HB died from prostate cancer in December 1993, having been the President of the National Assembly. After years of worsening economic situation that started in HB's final years and a long political struggle with future president Alassane Ouattara, he was overthrown by the military on Christmas Eve 1999. He fled to Togo and then France, returning to Ivory Coast in 2001. He's still quite active in politics, was a candidate in the 2020 Presidential Election and that image is from March.

Kerala's #2 coffintease former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy hospitalised again with pneumonia. Suffers from throat cancer. Maybe this is his time to finally die? Rifat Rastoder, former Acting President of Montenegro (2003) dead at 72. Colombian politician Rodolfo Hernández Suárez "hospitalised urgently" but "in good health and strong as Tarzan" according to relatives.

Why no Indians ever in DeathList?

Indian politics & Cricket heavyweight Sharad Pawar quits as NCP President...but "not going to retire anytime soon". He's one of those people with impressive health histories...survived oral cancer two or three times, heart attack(s?), angioplasties and bypasses, gallbladder problems, mouth infections, ulcers, god knows how many surgeries and bouts of pneumonia. I'm also quite sure he thinks he'll never die. Quote from an ABP Live article last year: Taking a break from hospitalization to attend a political event is just a minor example for those who have seen Pawar doing greater feats. In 2004, when Pawar was diagnosed with cancer, doubts were raised about whether he would survive till the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The political pundits predicted the end of his public career as well. However, Pawar was not ready to give up easily. When a young doctor, after assessing Pawar’s reports, said that he would not survive over six months, Pawar, in a lighter vein, remarked, “I will outlive you.”

    Notable Coronavirus Victims

I expect more to die from that list soon. Covid in the CAE/CAS is over (I might post a longer list of the 90+ academics in the academics thread later) but lots of those people are very frail. I don't think Shen Yucun has made an appearance since she was visited in 2011 (already looked very frail back then). Zhong Zizhen had an early 98th birthday celebration in January and while he looked frail he wasn't on a hospital bed which usually with these cases means he'll live a year or two more. Song Ping's brother-in-law Chen Junwu is one of those CAS academicians never mentioned here, 96 and was apparently too ill to attend his sister's funeral in 2019.

    Wrestlers/actors

SuperBilly is according to his facebook page's latest post back in hospital & ICU from the rehab centre he was in, this time with acute kidney failure and other ailments, last time he had acute kidney failure was two months ago. Keep sending money to Jesus and praying for gofundme. Meanwhile, Abdullah the Butcher has set up a...gofundme too, but it's because his wife left and took the money.

    Political Frailty

Major Palestinian politician and former Fatah central committee chairman Farouk Kaddoumi not dead yet, but Mahmoud Abbas called him last week to check on his health and judging on recent facebook talk he's seriously ill. He's been in failing health for a while. Chung Ho-yong was in the US for treatment in 2021. He's now the last of those military leaders who violently suppressed the 1980 Gwangju Uprising. (Chun Doo-hwan and Roh Tae-woo died 2021 and minor names Lee Hee-seong and Hwang Yeong-si both died last year)

    Political Frailty

Soviet leader of Latvia Jānis Vagris died in January at 92. People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

Recent video of her (with Mama Ngina Kenyatta, Jomo Kenyatta widow and Kenyatta family matriarch who looks amazing): Reading on her I thought Kirima's been the last living major Mau Mau Uprising figure since the deaths of Rawson Macharia (who was killed in a motorcycle crash in 2008...an uncommon way to die at 96), Terence Gavaghan in 2011 and Ian Henderson in 2013, but seems like Mukami Kimathi is still alive, the widow of Dedan Kimathi, the commander of the rebels. Her age is somewhere between 94 and 102 and she's been in and out of hospitals for years, most recently in January with pneumonia.
