Some folks turning/have already turned 90 this year Amartya Sen - Diagnosed with throat/oral cancer and given an 15% survival in 1952. The radiation he got during the treatment had severe effect on his bones and in 1971 he suffered severe bone necrosis. In 2018 he had prostate cancer and was still undergoing radiation therapy in 2020. Also has been decrepit for years now. William Kahan - Computer scientist looking more and more frail Cormac McCarthy - I tend to forget he's still alive. Bill Hayden - Former GovGen of Australia. Suffered a massive stroke in 2014 that put him into hospital for more than seven months and suffering from complications since. Ben Nighthorse Campbell - US politician who retired in 2004 due to prostate cancer and other ailments. Itzhak Fintzi - Bulgarian actor who seems to live in poverty but in local news a lot. Looks frail H. D. Deve Gowda - Former Indian Prime Minister who has had covid twice and suffered from some unknown ailment that made him look half dead around mid-2022. Recovered mysteriously. Rubén Darío Paredes - Panama military dictator who was born before and came before Manuel Noriega. Also a bit fat. Abel Pacheco - Former Costa Rica president. History of heart problems. Paul Biya - Demented despot. T. Cullen Davis - Oil heir/murderer. Looked pretty frail already in 2016. Philip Zimbardo - Stanford prison experiment guy. Doesn't look very great. Ilia II of Georgia - respected religious leader of Georgia (country) Suffering from parkinson's for more than a decade, heart ailments, everything! They even tried to kill him because he's dying too slowly. Bertram Turetzky - Ancient contrabass master Rein Taagepera - a bit frail but hasn't been mentioned here in eight years. Bob Cole - Canada's hockey announcer, allegedly suffering from dementia

Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa mentioned above ends his 8-year hunger strike. He's been in a hospital since June 2016 and fed through a NG tube because he's, until now, refused to eat anything via his mouth.

From what I understand Mamdouh is a pretty minor name and also in frail health. Saudi Arabia doesn't currently have much major older Sheikhs/royals. Kuwait's got that one very frail guy in his late 90s but also many others and former Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Saad's widow Sheikha Latifa (Arabic wiki) is still alive, 86 this year. Bahrain has a few, Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa and someone a bit older who I can't remember right now. UAE has multiple nonagenarians/octogenarians, Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan the oldest at 96/97. One interesting Arab royal name is Buthaina bint Taimur, half-Japanese Omani royal.

Also...Jayanta Mahapatra, 94, major Indian poet with a long health history (already suffering from a "serious illness" in 2006) and DL Cup pick 2021 & 2022 has again been a bit ill, here's an image from earlier this month: He's attended some events since this image was taken but looks decrepit.
-
I wonder how old he actually is. He suffers from "severe bilateral pneumonia" but they say he'll be discharged soon, looks fine in all the images. My bet is that he's between 75 and 90, but another question is that do his pals Vaiko, N. Sankaraiah and others know he isn't 97? Probably.

For those low requirement pools Hannu "Enzo" Pulkkinen, Finnish pop/dancepop guy who stole the boozes of Take That in the early 90s, suffers/has suffered from lung cancer x3, prostate cancer (x2?), COPD, diabetes, splenic vein thrombosis, liver failure, heart failure, pancreatitis and other ailments.

Interestingly this pretty much says he has some form of dementia in addition to ALS. Must be a horrible combination “Many people come every day and take his blessing. This man with his silence says more things than he said perhaps when he spoke. With his smile he reveals the strength of soul he has and the spiritual work he has done within him. And now with the redemptive significance of his illness and what he has been going through for two years now with his tracheostomy and gastrostomy, he has not lost his smile. His clarity has not left him, except for a few hours. He has the problem in his memory. The condition is such that it does not help him. He remembers faces. Communicates with faces. He is the father of us all. For me, Archbishop Irenaios is a daily check on my conscience," he said. He's bedbound in recent images.

This video has spread on Chinese medias recently and some a-holes have claimed it's a video of "Zhu Rongji meeting Song Ping on Chinese new year 2023". Actually this is a video of Zhu Rongji meeting Yuan Baohua (1916-1919) in 2018. But it makes me even more amazed that Zhu Rongji is still alive, looks barely alive here. Filipino immortals Joseph Estrada and Cesar Virata have made some appearances recently. Estrada looked a bit corpse-like, making me wonder if the dementia rumors are in fact true, and they clearly edited some of the pictures. His wife wasn't in them, she's probably too ill to make any appearances now. Virata looks as frail as always, we might see him at JPE's 99th birthday bash. Edit: Here's Virata this week:

Another 20/20 possibility - Rev. William J. Byron is still alive, 96 this year

As far as I know this is a recent image of Genichiro Tenryu: (Still in a rehabilitation centre/hospital due to the spine illness he had five months ago and other ailments)

Philippines Chief Presidential Legal Counsel/immortal thing Juan Ponce Enrile to hold a 99th birthday bash in three weeks. From one article: Enrile has started sending out invitations for his birthday party, which will be held on February 14 at White Space Manila, an events place in Makati. Part of the invitation read: “It’s my birthday on February 14, 2023. Will you spend your Valentine’s evening with me? Wear your dance shoes and let’s party!”

Haile Selassie's granddaughter Princess Seble Desta died on the third of Janury at 91 according to this. I love that awkwardish image of her with Marlon Brando and Haile Selassie. Le'ul Ras Mengesha Seyoum, the widower of her older sister Aida Desta, is still alive and 96 this year. (And also has a septuagenarian child with a wikipedia page)
