    HH. Jayapataka Swami Guru Maharaj
    My dear devotees,
Please accept my humble obeisances, best wishes, and blessings as appropriate.
    All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
    Homebase: Sridham Mayapur
    Camp: Chennai
Since I am experiencing an improvement in my health compared to the last fortnight, I would like to inform you briefly about my current health situation.
On the 21st of July, my servants noticed that I had a fever which raised concerns. The situation became alarming on the 25th of July when my Health Team diagnosed that I had a urinary system infection which was caused by an extended spectrum multi-resistant bacteria. In consultation with the Doctors in Rela Hospital, it was confirmed that it was very serious. According to their words, no antibiotic could treat this organism. So on the 27th morning, I traveled to Chennai and got admitted to Rela Hospital. I was feeling very fatigued and medical evaluation soon revealed a significant decline in my hemoglobin and white blood cell counts. And my creatinine levels were on the rise indicating that my kidney was not functioning well.
While in the hospital, I underwent a series of intensive treatments including dialysis and platelet transfusions. My servants informed me that I was not responding well to questions for 2 – 3 days and this was primarily due to deteriorating renal function and took a while to show a response to treatment. I was also unable to eat well for a few days. A dedicated team of specialists monitored my progress closely.
I do not feel that any hospital is a very comfortable place to stay and rest. There is a lot of noise, is generally cold and the lights are on most of the time. My health team recommends and insists that I should take a lot of rest for my quick recovery.
During the twelve days of hospitalization, I attended some important meetings and finally, I was discharged on the 8th of August. My condition has gotten better, and right now, I am staying at the home of Ajita Gopinatha Dasa and his family. I have to be in Chennai for a few more weeks to monitor my blood parameters.
A very renowned astrologer said that by the prayers of devotees, I can continue serving Krishna in this body and preach Krishna consciousness all over the world through my disciples. The more the devotees chant, the more my health will improve. I would like to express my gratitude to all the devotees who have offered special pujas, yajnas, chanted extra rounds, circumambulated Tulasi Devi, and offered different prayers to the Lord to let me serve Him as much as He desires.
A few weeks ago, my body was feeling very weak, and I thought I wouldn't be able to leave the hospital soon. However, since devotees from all over the world began praying, there is been evident progress, in both my health and physical strength. Therefore, I would like to request devotees to continue praying, so that I can fulfill the instructions that Srila Prabhupada gave me, while I am in this physical body.
I am also praying to Sri Sri Radha Madhava, Sri Panca-tattva, and Sri Prahlad Nrsimhadeva that I can please Srila Prabhupada and fulfill his instructions.
I hope this finds you all in good health and blissful Krishna consciousness.
    Yours in service,
    Jayapataka Swami

    Health update of

    HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaja

    Camp : Hiranandani, Chennai

    18th August 2023

Dear disciples and well wishers of

    H.H. Jayapataka Swami Maharaja

    Please accept our humble obeisances.

    All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

    All glories to Guru Maharaja!

Guru Maharaja had low hemoglobin so he needed to go to Rela hospital for getting iron transfusion. He successfully completed one session of Iron transfusion in Rela hospital on 16/8/23 without any complications. It was a day care procedure and Guru Maharaja was discharged as soon as the transfusion was over. He would require a few more such doses in the subsequent weeks, and we are hopeful that this would increase his hemoglobin level and Guru Maharaja's complaint of fatigue.

Guru Maharaja's platelet level has increased because of the new medications and the doctors are happy about this.

Guru Maharaja was visited by one of the Transplant Nephrologists, Dr Chandrashekhar. He evaluated Guru Maharaja at home and suggested some more tests.

The blood tests related to the kidney is slowly improving but is still not yet back to normal.

Guru Maharaja's Xray of the chest showed some water collection in the lungs, because of which his oxygen level had come down a bit and he has shortness of breath. The doctors have started medicines for removing this water collection.

We humbly request everyone to pray for the speedy recovery of Guru Maharaja's health back to normal.

    Thanking you all,

    On behalf of the

JPS Health Team and Seva Committee

    Mahavaraha das

I wonder if they can renew his kidneys and liver again. Last time it somehow worked.

Edit: also, if and when he dies, it'll leave only Giriraja Swami (75, liver disease?), Indradyumna Swami (74, critical in 2013, malignant melanoma in 2015 and 2019, very ill in 2020/2021), Bhakti Caitanya Swami (72, severely ill with three blood clots in his leg in 2021), Jayadvaita Swami (73, healthiest of the group), Mukunda Goswami (81, triple bypass + heart surgery in 2015), Ravindra Svarupa Dasa (~74, possible cancer sufferer and thinner each year, 5 missed events recently due to "health issues"), Romapada Swami (75, slightly decaying), Satsvarupa dasa Goswami (83, ill for a while, says he suffers from "various health issues" and they're now giving weekly health updates) and Sacinandana Swami (69, suffering from some chronic disease that causes abscess for the last 10 years atleast, hospitalised and very ill in 2016) the last disciples of cult leader A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Half of them have had massive health problems.

dasa Goswami and Jayapataka Swami however are the last standing of the 11 gurus who succeeded Prabhupaba when he died in the 70s. If you search around you'll find lots of interesting info about ISKCON and its gurus, for example one of the 11 gurus got his head hacked off while on LSD in the 80s.

And in addition to Faustao, another Brazilian tv presenter, Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega, hospitalised...with covid. Previous health history includes a hospitalisation in 2021 and semi-intensive care with respiratory infection in 2022.

EDIT: Of note to dead poolers – Crossley is only the 2nd titleholder of Britain's Strongest Man (which started in 1979) to die. The first was Marc Iliffe (wiki), who committed suicide in 2003, aged 30. His death was widely reported because of the circumstances and the fact that he was the titleholder in 2002. Crossley had a long career, and yet no QO.

Worth considering for any future picks.

There's a recent interview of Geoff Capes, the initial Britain's Strongest Man (who was also the World's Strongest Man twice and has been mentioned on the DL Forum multiple times before) here. He'll be 74 in a few days and isn't really the picture of health.

Currently hospitalised: David Musuguri (diabetes complications), Saalumarada Thimmakka (ICU with spinal fracture), Zhu Rongji (Parkinson's), Mario Zagallo (UTI), Mangosuthu Buthelezi (pneumonia), Yang You, Zhang Lixiong (three months in ICU)

I'd add Hu Qili there. He was said (however not confirmed by any reliable source) to be seriously ill early this year shortly after his wife died and I think at this point he might be in a "permanent hospitalisation" state like Rongji and Yang You. How long has it been since his last public appearance? Thich Thanh Tu was ill a month or two ago but wasn't hospitalised and has now recovered to his usual state.

  5. Buthelezi apparently on life support, then out of ICU and back in ICU on friday. This article seems a bit outdated but mentions he is/was suffering from pneumonia on top of his other ailments. The most recent official update I've seen however said that he was improving.

Thimmakka was still in ICU and on IV meds three days ago but it's been radio silence since. I think the spinal injury she suffered was more severe than they originally said.

Anyways I think the drought won't last much longer. Most of the listers are already in 24/7 care and could die any day. Interesting how here the longest droughts and silent periods always seem to happen between the end of June and the start of September. For the DL May or June seems to be the usual quiet month from what I've seen and heard

  6. One I regularly keep an eye on is "Uncle Jack", that TikTok "celebrity" I mentioned in March. Currently at 1.6 million followers so I assume he's an acceptable pick on many pools. He recently reached 100 and has been in and out of hospital for some time now, hernia, sepsis, UTI, kidney problems, skin cancer, two ER visits in the last year the most recent one having been last month, but he always seems to recover quite well.

Baruch Mordechai Ezrachi hospitalised critical on ventilator and sedated a week ago, but currently stable and improving. (apparently he was in "unstable" condition when hospitalised, stabilized, went critical, now improving again)

Edit: It has also been mentioned he underwent CPR again.

Baruch Mordechai Ezrachi greatly improving and to be moved to a rehab hospital soon.

It's also revealed in the article he (age 94) had a tracheotomy last month and that tracheotomy is connected to a ventilator. However because nothing makes sense anymore, he's able to write and doctors are optimistic about his recovery.

Interestingly he's a protégé of the late Meshulam Dovid Soloveitchik who also underwent a tracheotomy...some weeks before dying at 99.

And Kuwait's Emir Nawaf back to Italy, another private visit

Nawaf, who'll be 86 this month, has been said to suffer from stomach cancer for more than two years now and has had five to ten of these trips since becoming Emir in 2020. They seem fully prepared for his death, the eighty-something Crown Prince Mishal (half-brother of Nawaf) fully took over his duties already over a year ago and Nawaf's son Ahmad Nawaf (who is around 67 and currently the Prime Minister) will likely become the Crown Prince after Nawaf dies.

Kuwait News Agency denies reports of head of state Emir Nawaf being in "emergency health condition". No smoke without fire?

Pictured in 2018. Interesting birthday as she's the first supercentenarian from Cyprus. Malta's first supercentenarian Maria Farrugia is also currently living, reached 110 in March this year

Milia Paidiou, Cypriot supercentenarian and possibly the oldest ever from Cyprus, dead at 110. (Yes, the article mentions another Cypriot who might've lived to atleast 113, but seems nothing much is known about that woman)

  10. Fully recovered, both he and his wife (who's only 97) have gone voting and both walk without aid:

Edit: I'd make a joke about him becoming the Prime Minister again in four years, but I think the old bigot might just die any day from sudden heart problems.

  11. Some old NK leadership at Kim's concert to impress Shoigu a week or two ago:

I think that might be atleast Kim Yong-nam and Choe Yong-rim in the second image but I'm not completely sure. Not sure about any of the others. If you want to check the whole thing here's a link to the hour-long video. Lots of people there but the old elite is shown for only a few seconds at some parts.

Looking at the front row seems to me that there's former Premier Pak Pong-ju (84) and former propaganda dept head Kim Ki-nam (88 OR 93 OR 94) next to Yong-nam. Could be former minister of defence Kim Il-Chol (89/90) in the back row. Judging on the few four-second clips of them, Yong-nam is definitely in the worst health, clearly confused (doesn't clap at one point, looks like a zombie in many of the parts that row is shown in) and very thin. I don't think he'll see 2024.

That's atleast a Nutricia Flocare Infinity feeding pump in the background. He looks...decaying in this image but looked great and lucid in the video that's been posted on Chinese social media (which suprises me as he was apparently suffering from major memory loss in 2018). Even though this is from two months ago I'd be very suprised if he made it to his 110th. I doubt someone in that condition can be kept alive for a very long time. Doing very well for someone who was in coma in 1936 though.

Zhang Lixiong was visited some days ago (possibly on Monday), seems like his condition is pretty much the same after more than five months in ICU:

    lixiongimg1.png.f4639277c99fb02eaa322f5867113202.png

However I would still be very suprised if he made it to his 110th.

Edit: Apparently "ministerial-level care" that he, other generals and ministers receive means that he has a medical team of up to 25+ people caring him 24/7. There's also "cadre-level care" that's not as "extreme" that for example Feng Zigen is getting.
