Mirtha Legrand underwent a surgery to get a pacemaker this month, and just made her first appearance since the surgery. Looks amazing for 96 despite having some health history (survived cancer atleast twice, gallbladder operation in 2005, acute gastroenteritis and intestinal obstruction in 2019, emergency heart surgery in 2021 and this recent surgery)

  3. Leaves us with two people who lived in Theodore Roosevelt's USA - Maria Branyas Morera and Edie Ceccarelli.

That's also half dead from my November 2022 list of the remaining people born in the 1900s.

    New list:

    1. Maria Branyas Morera (1907) WOP

    2. Fusa Tatsumi (1907-2023) Very frail for ages.

    3. Edie Ceccarelli (1908-2024) Suffers from dementia

    4. Tomiko Itooka (1908) As discussed before, quite a medical miracle for surviving a stroke and a minor brain surgery at 110. Looked frail on her 115th.

    5. Inah Canabarro Lucas (1908) Atleast two hospitalisations in the last year or two? Looks quite good for her age though.

    6. Ushi Makishi (1909-2023) Seems very frail.

    7. Juan Vicente Perez Mora (1909-2024) WOM, has been in the same condition for atleast five years.

    8. Elizabeth Francis (1909) Looked very frail last year.

    9. Ethel Caterham (1909) Last subject of Edward VII. Looked fine last month.

    10. Okagi Hayashi (1909) Very health conscious and could well end up being the last living from these 15. Wheelchairbound on her 113th.

    11. Pearl Berg (1909, claims 1910-2024) Has been on oxygen again.

    12. Tane Matsubara (1909-2024) Very frail.

    13. Masa Matsumoto (1909) Fall at 108, but "had no previous health history" at the time. Not seen since 2021 apparently.

The two youngest are the only ones of this group not verified by GRG or LongeviQuest:

    14. Charlotte Kretschmann (1909) Was able to walk a bit in March.

    15. Concepcion Alarcon Vega (1909-limbo, 2021) Frail at 109, not seen since.

There are of course loads of claimants, Albertina Alves de Albuquerque has been recently removed from the "official" list as she's seemingly considered a likely fraudster now. The other claimants/fraudsters who've been kicked off the lists for failing to provide proper proof of their age I mentioned in March (list on page 147).

Not dead - and not recent news (September 2022) but never mentioned here before. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Prime Minister of Malaysia 2003-2009, has dementia and it's progressed to the point he can't recognize family members and is permanently wheelchairbound.

Recent update says Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (Abdullah Badawi) is "doing well".

Same wheelchair type that King Bhumibol, Queen Sirikit, Prem Tinsulanonda of Thailand and Laos' dictator Khamtai Siphandon have used.

Paris Hilton’s chihuahua dead at 23. Quite old I think for a dog, especially a chihuahua

Am I the only one who doubts that age? That's an extreme age for a dog and would have made that chihuahua one of the oldest dogs alive. TobyKeith the chihuahua was crowned "World's Oldest Dog" at 21 last April before four other dogs (that owners claim are even older - Pebbles who died last year at 22, Spike who's 23, Bobi who's 31 and another one that's 22) surfaced.

Reading on her I thought Kirima's been the last living major Mau Mau Uprising figure since the deaths of Rawson Macharia (who was killed in a motorcycle crash in 2008...an uncommon way to die at 96), Terence Gavaghan in 2011 and Ian Henderson in 2013, but seems like Mukami Kimathi is still alive, the widow of Dedan Kimathi, the commander of the rebels. Her age is somewhere between 94 and 102 and she's been in and out of hospitals for years, most recently in January with pneumonia.

Mukami Kimathi, widow of Dedan Kimathi, dead. Apparently died on 4th of May, six days after my post.

Japanese Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danshirō IV and wife dead in suicide pact, son Ichikawa Ennosuke IV apparently survived.

Japanese sources say the "chief mourner" is legendary Kabuki actor and widower of Murasaki Fujima, Ichikawa Ennosuke III, older brother of Ichikawa Danshirō IV. However it's not sure how the funeral will be held as Ichikawa Ennosuke III has apparently been in the late stages of Parkinson's for years.

Đặng Văn Thân (1932) Former Central Committee member. Suffered what seems to have been a severe stroke years ago.

My 2021 list suggestion, Vietnamese politician, former central committee member and one of the fathers of Vietnam's postal services Đặng Văn Thân got the Communist Party 70th membership award today. He's said to be "in declining health" (only a corner of his hospital bed is visible in the images) but "still expressed his joy and honor"

Perennially ill Vietnamese politician Đặng Văn Thân finally dead at 90.

Our favourite Taliban supporter Munawwar Rana on life support.

Kidney failure, throat cancer, gallbladder problem on top of more or less 50 other chronic ailments. Will he make it to June?

He was one of that exceptionally large group of people hospitalised in May last year who survived ICU/critical conditions...others of those still living include T. Rajendar (who "completely recovered" from cardiac arrest and internal hemorrhage), Thomas Markle, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Giorgio Napolitano, Kong Nay (how's he still alive?), Juha Väätäinen, Sukri Bommagowda (still alive and quite frail), Stefano Tacconi, G.N. Saibaba and Bonda Mani.

  11. Saalumarada Thimmakka (Indian woman who planted a lot of trees and got some international fame for it, Padma Shri, immortals lister, claims to be somewhere between 104 and 114 but is actually "only" 94 or 95) visited by Karnataka CM who wishes her good health

I wonder if this is just a random visit or if she's ill. She had multiple ICU visits between 2012 and 2021 but has been relatively stable for the last two years. However she has apparently suffered from COPD for more than a decade.
