Was going to include him on a Pittsburgh-area theme team but decided to scrap the whole team at the last minute. Sad day, though, as he was an area institution. One of those guys who you thought would just be around forever. Back when he hosted a PGA Tour event at his resort he always treated everyone, including us volunteers, like kings.
-
Don't worry, he'll be 63 next year.
-
or, you know, not been included on the list, at all.
-
Perhaps they're correcting a mistake. Phelan shouldn't have been accepted.

I imagine it's probably easier to get uniques by picking random olds, these days

2023 Main Team Entry (and some thoughts): The Salmon Mousse Rob Burrow - JOKER - his look reminds me of Marian Cisovsky's right before he went. Rhod Gilbert - basic stage 4 pick Kate Keltie - hate breast cancer picks but her age and the dire reports made her unavoidable Denny Crum - certain to go in 2023, certain to only get me 6 points. Should've changed him out but just couldn't resist the somewhat underground name. Jonnie Irwin Frank McGarvey - already a hit Michael Tilson Thomas - honestly, have major doubts he'll go in 2023 Simon Cowell Steve McMichael Frank Field - this guy bugs me. Surely this is his year, right? Gianluca Vialli Johnny Ruffo - have the same doubts about him as I do about Thomas but I'm also still feeling the sting of dropping Parker last year Jeanette Lee - ESPN's recent 30 for 30 about her solidified this pick Janey Godley - the last person in. Was between her and Kerri Parker but Godley will probably Drop 40. Steve DiMeglio - in the mid-500s with his chemo treatments, thin as a rail, but fighting. Bit of a QO risk but given that he received well-wishes from every top pro when his cancer was announced I feel he'll find one. George Alagiah Ryuichi Sakamoto David J. Linden - a major QO risk but he has been mentioned in The Guardian in the past and last year's ultra-safe lineup ended in disaster James Whale - surely it's his year, right? Shannen Doherty - just seems to be fading out
-
Please please please tell me you didn't use him in your DDP lineup
-
Waiting for the final update but I don't believe my two late hits were enough to move ahead of the ultra-imaginative really-really-old-people team in the Theme Team League
-
If he were a picked man Ya ba dibba dibba dibba dibba dibba dibba dum

Mark Pilgrim - removed at the 11th hour after it struck me that there was no shot in hell of him receiving a QO. Definitely isn't seeing 2024. Had I not misread the rules page a couple years ago, and knew I could have more than 1 non-theme team (to quote a famous golfer: "What a stupid, I am"), he would've been in a secondary, more dangerous, lineup. Kerri Parker - hopped in and out of my lineup over the last couple of days. Describes her cancer as "aggressive" but she's still very active. Decided on Godley over her when I removed Pilgrim and I'm sure I'll regret it. Rolf Harris - seems to be the most popular man on this website but, even with Drop 40, he's light on points. Still, turns out I should've used him over Denny Crum or probably Frank Field. Malachy McCourt - just no room for old timers who are thin on point potential Teresa Taylor - was firmly in my lineup before my holiday break but came back questioning her QO potential and 8 points didn't seem worth the risk Dikembe Mutombo - just not enough information about the severity of his cancer Non-returning survivors from last year's embarrassing effort: Tim Bilton - his twitter gives the appearance of a vital, active, man. was a bad pick last year and remains one this year. Linda Nolan - firmly believe she'll be around for the 2030 Deathlist. Larry Pressler - definitely won't see 2024 but just no point potential.
-
My 5 rejections: - Slim Borgudd - F1 driver/ABBA drummer - Abdul Thompson Conteh - Sierra Leone soccerist - Steve DiMeglio - Golfweek senior writer/also writes for USA Today - Rick Joslin - martial arts hall of famer - Chris Stone Surprisingly accepted: - Daisuke Sugaya - Nippon TV announcer

Golf: The 19th Hole
Salmon Mousse replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList Forum
Slapped together a golf theme team, again this year, but he was not on my radar -
Anita Pointer a last second hit for my squad. Given that the exercise here, for me at least, is to create a list that's legitimately famous enough to replace the main death list 22 hits seems to be a big success.
-
Knew about both but only picked Crum... so, at very least, we've screwed each other out of a possible 4 points there. Figured Crum would end up a relatively useless 6-pointer but I just couldn't let go of him as a pick. Will post and analyze my full team after the morning workout.

With Walters, Benedict, and Pointer not making the starting gate Walter Mirisch, Antonio Gala, and Rolf Harris go in.
-
This last minute death has exposed a colossal error I made on my subs list. Oh well
-
Well, damn. I've been undercutting myself. Certainly could've used a secondary lineup this year.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you only allowed one regular team?
-
My thoughts are: *shrugs* Honestly, does anyone look at the actual Deathlist past the day it comes out? (I mean, aside from it's use in the Inverse game)
-
Quick, someone give me a theme to slap a last minute team together with

After way too much overthinking, maneuvering, shifting, googling, and re-googling my 2023 main team entry email has been sent. Not sure if I'll be submitting a theme team this year as all I want to do now is sleep for the foreseeable future. Also, I cannibalized the best name from one of the themes, I was thinking of using, to use on my main team.
-
Well, I guess Walter Mirisch just cracked my starting lineup
-
Almost done... just have to decide whether it makes sense to use two 8-pointers who absolutely will die in 2023, but possibly won't obit, or to use a couple who are worth a bit more but who I don't trust to actually keel over.
