Summer Olympic Deaths/Dead Medallists
DoorSlammer replied to Stayin Alive's topic in DeathList Forum
Dutch football icon Kees Rijvers is definitely still alive and Cees Gravesteijn was still alive in 2019. And I personally doubt that unsourced edit on Klara Post's wiki page from January 2022 wasn't legit, too. -

That's not too uncommon with our A-listers. Willem Drees, Drs. P, Rutger Hauer, Pierre Kartner (Father Abraham) and Marga Minco are other examples of people who were already buried before their deaths were announced.
-
Dutch former PM Dries van Agt dead at 93.
-
Belgian footballer José Reynaert (Dutch wiki) dead at 102. Now his death itself isn't that interesting (although I'm sure some bored Wiki editor will give him an English page soon), but what I do personally consider interesting about him is he was already a player before WWII and there can't be too many of them left at this point. Especially the ones who played in a country's top division.

Thanks, everyone! The first time I've ever won anything in my life.

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...
DoorSlammer replied to Vaagheid's topic in DeathList Forum
It's fake. Because it's an Italian IP, I checked his Italian wiki page. Same IP added his death on there, with the place of death being Glasgow, but also that Baxter and his wife got two children. -

One of those guaranteed death types, he announced last July he had a brain tumour and only 6 to 9 months to live. Pleasantly surprised he made my obit rule. My 2nd hit of the year.

Swedish speed skater Carl-Erik Asplund (wiki), bronze medalist in 1952, dead at 100.

No. In fact, the only time there has been an earlier hit in general was Helen Wills Moody in 1998, who died on New Year's Day (her death wasn't announced until the next day). That was her 5th appearance on the list, however.
-
Shortest debut on the DL since Gerry Rafferty in 2011, who also died on 4 January.
-
Oh yeah, him too.
-
If she (Saint) survives the year, she might get picked. In recent years the DL likes their '100-year old who turns 101 that year' picks after all. Schultz in 2021, Lear in 2023 and Johns in 2024.

André Hissink dead on New Year's Day at 104.
-
Thanks. I replaced them with Marcel Ophuls and Claire Maurier.

No Attenborough again is surprising, they must really not want him as a hit. Dropping Ono is risky. Solid list otherwise. The new generation is here and it's a damn good one.
