General Election 2024?
Philheybrookbay1 replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
If the local election is anything to go by, I’d expect a few Tories to get the push here in Devon and Cornwall. The most obvious is Johnny Mercer in Plymouth Moor View, with the whole City going Labour in locals and making strong inroads in the North wards he must be in serious danger. He’s a Rishi fan so that will go against him. Keep an eye on Devon with Totnes and Mid Devon likely to go Lib Dem and St Ives to go the same way. You can’t rule out North Devon either. Labour should hold Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, Exeter and gain George Eustice seat down in St Austell. -
Whilst I’m not a great fan of Mr Schofield, the main issue here is with the powers that be in ITV. It appears that the majority of the so called stars are managed by the same agent and they seem to be pulling the strings for a very long time. Factor in the ‘woke’ element as I’ve read and it all seems very distasteful. We’ve all made mistakes in relationships even non sexual ones and Phillip has been hung out to dry imho. Why him? You look at Ant McPartlin and the car crash when he was drunk involving a child and you’d say - that’s career ending stuff? But no. Because he’s young, brings in revenue and he’s with Dec. Equally dig a little on Holly Willowboobies and she’s not the paragon of virtue… but she’s got time on her side. Phillip is over 60, and would have probably left This Morning in this summer or next. So it’s an easy scape goat..

I’m guessing as it’s come out of Maidenhead registry - it was some days ago?

Is it standard for iPhones after 2 years to be permanently on charge? It’s more of a land line than a mobile phone at this point…

Genuinely a jaw drop on Paul O’Grady although it was known he had a duff heart. The story about the Met Police raid and police officers all wearing gloves because of the HIV crisis and Paul as Lily saying ‘ thank fuck we needed help with the washing up’ is the stuff of legends.

And to make the mess even messier… the leader of the Independents on PCC Nick Kelly collapsed with a medical emergency at a hustings on Saturday. Sounds like it took a defrib and two Drs to bring him back. The whole mess has become so toxic over these bloody trees..

And to make a weird situation even weirder, the local Tory MPs urge Labour to take control!

Plymouth City Council If you live in my hometown the good news story of City Centre regeneration has led to industrial style logging of over 120 trees overnight in Armada Way. They did a barely passable consultation on the development but it didn’t help the ‘Swampys’ or huggers much good as they came in overnight with scores of police and security to do it. Have a gander online. What’s most stupid is the Conservatives are in power (just) and it’s about to be… local elections. God help the poor Cllrs up for this. Labour arent coming out of this well either, having been very quiet. The only winners here? Probably the LibDems or any Green candidates. As someone who worked for PCC for 17 years and moved to another authority I’m stunned at the stupidity of doing this right on an election…

To be fair- she took Brian Conley take very well. And yes Septic Peg was also my first thought - proper ITV Saturday night staple in the 90s. There’s plenty of classic Septic Peg on YouTube which took the National Lottery bit of Meg to pieces. ‘The Big Dipper, The Bear and The Plough are all pubs I’ve been thrown out of…. ‘ Hick

As someone who dips in and out- I have to say the actress who plays Alice (Jenny Dahing daughter) played a blinder in the last year or so with her characters alcoholism and now her Mums death. Mind you Adam still wooden as telegraph pole. He’s just got no range in his emotions.

Although to be fair if you listen to Liza Tarbuck in Radio 2 she frequently makes reference to her Dad by mocking him. So I’d say all it pretty good at the moment

Yes a couple in Zante- the Ionian Islands sit on a fault line and Zante was flattened in 1950s. First one I was sat by the pool- and before it hit all the animals - dogs, cats went bananas. Then silence as it came through. Only in 4s but weird to be in as my foot literally moved forward by a few inches then it started! Second time- early one morning in a thunderstorm ironically and the room started shaking with the lampshade moving like a pendulum. All very safe but interesting! -
The best impersonator of Esther remains in my eyes is Pamela Stephenson from Not the Nine O’clock News. She had her spot on

First Celebrity Death You Remember

Earl Mountbatten of Burma. August bank holiday 1979. I was 5. A lovely summers day and as a family we’d been to Dartmoor and we’re driving home from Cadover Bridge towards Plympton. Daft how I remember the exact spot when the news came on the radio about 4pm and we heard. Mum cried that I do also remember. Same day as the Warrenpoint bombing I think? After that Steve McQueen the following year- although John Lennon passed me by totally. -
The sad thing in my eyes- is all families have fall outs and in many cases only come back together at a funeral. Clearly this didn’t happen when QEII passed but then if you’ve sold your soul to the Netflix devil prior to her death, you’re not exactly going to get a warm welcome by your brother and your Dad has just lost his Darling Mama and got the top job. What sits most uncomfortably is for a couple so scared of the press, they do rather seem to like it… And now of course today- we’ve a book to launch- hence ‘I miss my family’ line. If we are to have a slimmed down royal family then some are pressing the button towards that on their own right.

Or in simplistic words of one sentence ’We’ve shut the stable door now the horse has bolted’

Was an amazing player and manager in his time- bloody cancer- keep going Gianluca.

Legend was our Sparksy. Had the honour of meeting him at football and he was a great fella. Radio Devon will be much poorer as will Argyle commentaries. Heaven is bit greener today.

Very sad, represented the traveller community and was a NHS mental health nurse. Rest gently and rise in glory Cherry/George

Dating. What a shame you can’t give people a public review on sexual performance. Because the last one whilst being relatively good looking was a terrible experience. Mr I Win I Win. I didn’t get to win once…..

Sounds fine on BBC1 apprently…..

It’s when we get Huw Edwards on BBC channels going “This is BBC television from London”. Then we’ll know.
