If I am reading the list/descriptions correctly, that would mean there is only one veteran left from a country other than Spain (that being Italy). Assuming we can add no more names, whether from not finding them or this group actually being the last living survivors, that is a significant event.

Can argue on the semantics if you wish. This game has clearly been dead in the water for months. No winner is considered legit in my mind, but I'm just one opinion. Considering you likely have the most points, I do see why you might think differently.
-
Declaring a winner penalizes those who stopped picking players due to the game obviously being dead. Any winner from this round or game in general should have a giant asterisk, as it obviously wasn't fair.

MLB Pitcher (Wiki) Bob Locker died August 15th at the age of 84. He played for 5 different teams in the big leagues for around a decade, from 1965-1975 + part of the 1972 WS winning team Oakland A's.

Looks the same.... -
All the names from my list were from the Forbes annual billionaire list. Seemed anyone mentioned there was nearly a lock for a QO, which was kinda one of my points. That being said, seeing all the names not mentioned is interesting. I appreciate that other's also found some interest in the topic!

Only a few more months left to go! It's been a close one, anyone's race! Who am I kidding....I'm ready for this disappointment to be closed

It is interesting to me how old some of the richest people on our planet turn out to be. I've decided to make a few lists about that. We have a few thousand billionaires in the world, I am going to list the Top 5 by a few different countries + everyone else The 5 Oldest Billionaires August 2022 in the United States 1. (Wiki) George Joseph, age 100, Insurance 2. (Wiki) Charles Munger, age 98, Berkshire Hathaway 3. (Wiki) David Murdock, age 98, Dole food products 4. (Wiki) S. Daniel Abraham, age 97, Slim-Fast 5. (Wiki) Ted Lerner, age 96, Real-Estate In the U.S there are an additional 20 billionaires between age 96-90 and 114 between age 89-80. The 5 Oldest Billionaires August 2022 in the United Kingdom 1. (Wiki) Bernard Lewis, age 96, Fashion 2. (Wiki) Bernard Ecclestone, age 91, Formula One 3. (Wiki) Robert Miller, age 88, Retail 4. (Wiki) Joe Lewis, age 85, Investments 5. (Wiki) David Reuben, age 83, Real Estate In the U.K there are an additional 3 billionaires between age 83-80. The 5 Oldest Billionaires August 2022 in the rest of the world 1. (Wiki) Robert Kuok, age 98, Palm Oil (Malaysia) 2. (Wiki) Ana Cafferata, age 97, Mining (Peru) 3. (Wiki) Stephen Jarislowsky, 96, Money Management (Canada) 4. (Wiki) Stef Wertheimer, 95, Metalworking (Israel) 5. (Forbes) Traudl Engelhorn, 95, Pharmaceuticals (Germany) In the rest of the world there are an additional 18 billionaires between age 95-90. It is crazy to me how many old billionaires the U.S has! A majority of them are a QO cert.

If it is true, which we will find out one way or the other eventually, we lost 2 out of 3 remaining silent era actors in the same year. That would be quite unfortunate.

(Wiki) Julian Robertson has died at the age of 90. A billionaire hedge fund manager and investor, at one time the hedge fund he founded was among the biggest and successful in the world.

(Wiki) Jamey Rootes has died at the age of 55. Wording on the death notice points to suicide. Mr. Rootes was the former President of the Houston Texans from 2005 until retiring in 2021. He was also a former GM/CEO of multiple soccer teams, both MLS and NWSL. The Houston Texans would not exist as they currently do today if not for this man and his work. -
I agree with everyone on your list, but Clint Eastwood. There is no more reason for Clint to be on the list than Dick van Dyke. At least DvD is quite a bit older. They may add Eastwood onto the list eventually, but honestly there is no reason too other than old. There are plenty of old people we could put on the list. Is Clint Eastwood worth missing a hit on vs having him as a bed-blocker for 5-6 years?

Tom Weiskopf anyone?
-
The names mentioned: 1. Donnie "Beezer" Smith, 97 (Sept. 17, 1924) 2. Mildred Kornman, 97 (July 10, 1925) 3. Gary Watson, 93 (Sept. 27, 1928) The bottom two are well known, first has been debated.

She'll be on my personal list for next year. It may take 3-5 years though honestly.

A bit early for this conversation, no? We still have people alive from the 1900-1910 time period.... *granted all known dead before 1904* Spanish Civil War participants will die out first. That's more interesting to me currently IMO

How is that ironic?
